  • There is if there not controlled by the government like they are now in Ireland

  • You don't have to ask for the right to organise. YOU TAKE IT!! There is power in a union!

  • :)

  • ....it all amounts to nothing if together we don't stand.

  • ffs stop the fucking socialism/communist arguement and realise that we are fighting for the working man...but in different states. Come on Brothers. Fight the people who laugh at you when you fight each other. We should be fighting them.

  • This is really nicely done, HonestConor32. Thanks!

  • Have a great Labor Day!

  • Union forever!

  • I like the vocals better on this version, but I like the instrumentation and the tempo better on the Street Dogs version.

In an unrelated, who or what, is "the black leg"?

  • @mowgli2071 the black leg is a scab

  • @mowgli2071 Same thing as a scab, Mowgli: a person hired to break a strike.

  • @mowgli2071 A Scab.

  • the union forever!

  • @joshiret.....dude, there isnt enough food to feed the already overburdened population and you're worried about the winners and losers of capitalism...give me a break. Do some research on your "one world utopia"....it is gonna suck for everyone, unless of course you're George "almighty" Soros...sic.

  • @tarhnished Some studies, one quoted by Sir David Attenborough conclude there is enough to go around, however it's disproportionately shared. But I do agree that will probably become a problem in the future. There is literature from the pre greek times complaining about over population so it's difficult to tell. I don't know whether humans will ever be able to solve those problems, but I don't think ignoring them well help at all, and as I stated before I don't *think* capitalism will help.

  • @Karlbonner1982... Get your head out of the sand...Its people like George Soros and Liberals that fleece the system, get mules like you to propagandize for them, and then complain that somehow you are entitled to something you never contributed or worked for. If any of you potatoheads invested in the very markets you demonize, you would quickly realize the only people driving us into recession are the very ones who claim capitalism doesn't work. That means you, the lazy and weak.

  • @tarhnished

My god! I haven't read such a retarded comment since I stopped checking out neo-nazi videos. You are my idol!

  • @tarhnished Does that mean we are all born into equality...? That's a blatant fallacy. Capitalism in it's current form won't work because there are problems on earth (famine, lack of suitable education, rising oil prices, perhaps global warming...) and capitalism gives no incentive to solve these problems. I believe it does quite the contrary.

  • @gussydaddy....please tell me how the recession is effecting you...what no more freebies...?

  • @ahumancertainty...I wonder why...can you say Unions in Detroit or Buffalo, or perhaps that the liberals in CA. ? Dont be confused, the social democrats, communists, socialists, are the selfish and the problem. They dont create, they are just a cancer.

  • @tarhnished Reaganomics Republicans are the real cancer. They're the reason wages are stagnating and bankers are wrecking the economy and corporations are running roughshod over the campaign system. END REAGANOMICS NOW!!!

  • as long as right wing politicians can't work together with left wing politicians we won't come ahead. they say we are all equal but act selfish. together we will stand, untide we will rise. Billy Bragg is a voice for all times even if you don't like what he says. he is a true and honest man. only a few can say that.

  • You commies are sick. Capitalism works in our country, why should i care about yours.

  • @tarhnished it works so well that we are in a recession ! how may will it take before you learn it dosn't work?

or are you to self involved to take note of the plight of others? you must realise the world as you know it is coming to an end ? you can surely see that the internet has allowed the masses to comunicate at the click of a button ? the greatest comanders will tell you , comunication is everything !

    and now we have it!!

  • @tarhnished It doesn't work in Detroit or Buffalo or South Central L.A.

  • @tarhnished im no commie im a hard left socialist you scab. capitalism is doomed to fail as it already is, you live in your coffee froth lifestyle whilst your country feeds itself till its fat and economicaly bloated mess. capitalism is like a vampire it gorges itself until a point where it can no longer feed then pop goes your economy.

  • @sgbigsby1989

Yoiu don't seem to know the difference between socialism and communism.

  • One person is a greedy boss.

  • @gioDKM Why arent you a Communist then?

  • Death to neoliberalism

  • Rock on Wisconsin Be brave fight em till the grave unite behind the "Wisconsin 14"

  • Solidarity Wisconsin, solidarity Greece, solidarity Egypt, solidarity Libya, and Tunisia.

Solidarity from Arkansas! There's power in a union!

  • POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have visions of this being played in bars across the land and when it comes on everybody drops what they are doing and starts singing. But... the bars are full of crap music and silly people.

  • he makes some very good points and they make sense. you just need to pay attention to lyrics

  • not sayin we need to go socialist, but a bit of control wouldn't kill anyone. no more down sizing and price gouging while reporting huge profits and CEO's getting massive bonuses.

  • The best answer is Capitalism With A Conscience. Things have gotten very "master and Peasant" lately....Time for a change.

  • @crary007

Capitalism cannot have a conscience. Any CEO who tries to run a corporation ethically will send its share price through the floor, and be replaced with one who has fewer scruples. Any company which focuses on fairness above profits will go out of business: justice is not competitive. The abuses and unfairness are part of capitalism working properly, not some deviation. We need a system that structurally supports fairness, equality and justice, not one that structurally opposes them.

  • Organized workers are the only hope left in a world dominated by corporations. If we do not stand together, we will surely be enslaved. We are seeing it in the USA as wages are driven down by economic uncertainty and off shoring of jobs. Unfortunately those unaffected are often indifferent to the struggle for social justice.

The term social justice does not play well with conservatives, it implies that we all have a stake in this world.

    Work for peace and justice.

  • I love the video with the awesome Billy Bragg song - Thank you so much!

  • all of you anti socialist assholes need to wise up and realise that stalin is hated by many socialists as well. stalin was a fascist and a murderer however i follow the teachings of Lenin, Trotsky and the great KARL MARX!

  • @2doctoma Thank you Comrade.

  • @2doctoma

Fascist and a murderer? Go suck one. You are not a socialist, you are a social democrat. You can sit there with the rest of your Trot hippies blathering on about how there can be a peaceful revolution (which, incidentally is completely impossible in the REAL WORLD) and leave the actual revolution that will make a difference to the real communists, OK? Dick.

  • @ourhandsaretied This is coming from a former trot and a current anarcho-syndicalist... trots don't talk about peaceful revolution. They talk about empowering the worker and building on the struggles of the working class to spread consciousness, while awaiting and advancing the inevitable revolt of the masses themselves. Only ignorant, misidentifying trotskyists talk about peaceful revolution. Solidarity, bro.

  • @Marcownz747

Now I feel bad for (virtually) yelling at him :P Yes comrade, solidarity of course :) Big demo in London on Sat, should be a million ppl marching.

  • @ourhandsaretied Organising in the states, myself. We've got a march in Albany this wednesday against budget cuts, and a march against the war a few saturdays from now. The former is mostly centrist and reformist ideologies, but they'll be students and workers nonetheless. The latter demonstration, however, is primarily socialist-based and taking place in NYC. Good luck with your demo (is it against the royal wedding, by any chance?)

  • @Marcownz747

ah very good- didn't think they had a great deal of that sort of stuff in the good ole US of A, but I guess it just doesn't get a great deal of media coverage.

Lol no its against the goverment's horrendous cuts agenda, however there will be mock weddings held on the day I think. But almost everyone here loves the damn royals and the wedding (apart from socialists/communists of course) and even the leader of the Labour Party called it 'appalling' that unions want to strike then.

  • @ourhandsaretied Well, we all know that the Labour party is pretty much just as bad as the Democratic Party, in that they tend to be far more centrist, and supportive of neo-liberal doctrine. But there isn't much here. We haven't seen any protests over any of this... our people are so apathetic that they only protest when we're looking at destruction... and then its too late.

  • @Marcownz747

Oh yes definitely, Tony Blair is a Conservative, who continued most of Maggie Thatcher's policies (as did Brown). Obama promised to close Guantanamo but has gone back on his word (what a surprise) and has made concession after concession to Beck and O'Reilly's crew. But can I ask one thing... is it me or is politics all backwards in America- i.e. you have loads of people (especially in the south) who think the best political position for the working man is the right wing???? :s

  • @ourhandsaretied Nope, its not just you. We're about as backwards as possible. There are a large number of socialists, but percentage-wise, we're being beaten out by working-class people who don't want to see corporations taxed in order to pay for their schools, benefits, and whatnot. 2/3 of our top 500 corporations don't pay taxes, and MOST US citizens would fight to the death if taxes were implemented against them. We're so close to fascism it's scary.

  • @Marcownz747

I just don't understand what they actually think is so bad about the welfare state? God almighty! Wait, maybe thats it...? ;) Beck- "eternal justice"

not just randomly plugging my videos but take a look on my channel for the video 'retarded anti-healthcare republicans'. It's scary. There's not a single sensible argument between them. From the same set of interviews (tho not on my vids), one nutter yelled at the cameraman 'KILL ALL COMMIES! ARE YOU A COMMIE? ARE YOU A COMMIE?'

  • @ourhandsaretied are you a retard? i never said that communism could not be achieved without force. what i said is that STALIN is a fascist. if you actually did your research, you would know that stalin murdered the entire of the remaining bolshevik party. stalin slaughtered many who did not deserve death and should not be considered a true communist in my eyes. get your facts straight before you mouth off to me.

  • @2doctoma

No I can safely say I am not a retard. I think it's you who should get your facts straight actually; do you not realise that Stalin was almost solely responsible for the defeat of Naziism and Fascism? And you're saying he was a fascist? Don't make me laugh! Stalin's Soviet Union lost 27 million men to DEFEAT fascism!

  • @ourhandsaretied yes i admit he did defeat a fascist. but he also caused his own fascism. he defeated an evil and created another evil. when you think about the people who dispise commism, do they badmouth lenin? or do they badmouth stalin? the soviet union was only viewed as truly evil after lenins death. if you need to know more, then look up one word. GULAG!

  • @2doctoma

Yes, people do badmouth Lenin, plenty of people do. Wrong too.

Fascism means ultra-nationalism, communism is internationalist.

Listen, Stalin dragged Russia, Georgia etc. out of the stone age and into the modern world ,and was forced into using some pretty harsh measures to do it, but most of the stuff you read in the capitalist world is pure propaganda. Note that Russia is now in the stone age again.

Just think about it like this, if Trotsky was in charge, Hitler would have won.

  • @ourhandsaretied Doubt it. Trotsky was a ruthless military commander and he wouldn't have shot all his generals. If anything he'd have fared better.

  • Comment removed

  • @ourhandsaretied yes that may well be true, but of course it is possible to be both good and evil at the same time. stalin did some great things, but at the same time he caused the deaths of almost the entire of the bolshevik party, and the deaths of millions of working class people. both evils are unavoidable, if trotsky came to power, hitler may have conquered russia, but at the same time, the people under stalins rule met horrible ends. stalin was good to begin with but he was corrupted.

You know what, It's thanks to Socialism that Education is free in this country.

But you even take the piss out of that.Your spelling is an abortion and you have no knowledge of political definitions. Your a child, who finds enjoyment out of following my comments, whilst putting silly thumbs down on my videos about dogs.As I predicted , as soon as you ran out of Red Top Tabloid buzz words and the usual Right Wing rhetoric, you would eventually be out of gas .

  • Workers of the world... UNITE!

  • We don't want to go back to the days of Frampton.......... proud to be related to Hammett.

  • This makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up everytime I hear it, last time was at ULU in March. There's nothing like a Bragg gig to get a socialist heart thumping.

Remember the 80s, don't vote Tory.

  • brilliant! great slides too

  • but it is big difference between social democracy and socialism, and also it strongly depends on culture of country and people there, I am from country which used to be part of socialist block 20 years ago and we all experienced what devastation such social system could bring to people, and we have learned that such system can`t withstand economicaly, for me the best system is capitalism with emphasis on social aspects ...

  • @Malevolus68 I understand that living under the thumb of the "Soviet' Union might have tainted your perception of what socialism is, but "the best system" is certainly NOT capitalism. I don't know what your socio-economic background is, but for about 80 percent of the population of the world, capitalism is a terrible system. Capitalism has given us bad labor and working conditions, the unequal distribution of food and other natural resources, starvation, and famine.

  • @BreakYourChains Well, if not the best system, capitalism is certainly the 'least bad'.

  • @Slapbass13

lol holy shit this is wrong

  • @Slapbass13

What you are effectively saying is 'the world is a bit shit, get used to it'. I don't accept that we need to have a 'bad' system. This, to me, seems absurd. The paraphrase comes from the depressed Winston Churchill (he was talking about parliamentary democracy), who may have been irredeemably pessimistic about the world. I have some hope for a better world. The existence of bad systems implies the existence of good ones, let's strive for those.

  • @BreakYourChains problem is we think voting will fix it and our "leaders" will fix it, we have the power and those in charge know it. I say its about time we realize it collectively and DO something. Songs can be an anthem but change comes within and starts with you and ME. We cant wait for others to do it for us.

  • @BreakYourChains Perhaps the most naive thing I've read in a long time. You should travel more. The only thing that has lifted mankind out of the grinding poverty and hopelessness that plagued humanity for millennia is the free market. In places where the free market it prevented the primary effort of the people is to avoid starving.

  • @TambourineMan77 Not true, there are case studies like south korea, russia which built industry and institutions under metasocialist governments for long term prosperity (factories, infrastructure for russia early 1900's and car's, electronics are famous in south korea 1970's). Certainly not under a free market. Arguably free market capitalism retarded growth in African countries post 1979 which adhere to a terrible export prices in global markets and no incentives for governments to invest.

  • @joshsiret There are several reasons why people don't invest in Africa and the "fee market" is not among them--quite the contrary. Perhaps the most ignorant but pervasive claims against free markets is to equate them with anarchy or social Darwinism. It's hard to argue the merits of something when the other party is willfully ignorant of the topic being argued. Tell me josh, how do these case studies of S.Korea and Russia stack up to the case study that has been running in US for 230 yrs?

  • @TambourineMan77 So you're agreeing that africa needs investment from it's government not free market capitalism. Well considering in russia, they went from the feudal system, to an empire which defeated the Germans, quite well I suppose.

A lot of americans live below the poverty line and have a crap standard of living, while the rich own most of the wealth, also crappy healthcare.

Thanks for insulting me too, hope that gave you great pleasure. If I'm so ignorant, why did you bother replying.

  • @BreakYourChains I 100% agree with you I also wanted to add the fact that Soviet Union communism was not real communism or socialism.

  • @Malevolus68 I could go on, but suffice to say that global capitalism is more of a virus than it is a vaccine for the world's social problems. However, I also take issue with social democracy and state socialism. Any social, political or economic system that is based centralized government, in which a small cadre of individuals govern the majority of the population through a monopoly of force, is not democratic. The only real democracy is libertarian socialism or anarchism.

  • @BreakYourChains Good to find a kindred spirit in the harsh world of the internet, comrade! Good luck in your struggle.

    Salud y Libertad.

  • @BreakYourChains

Um, libertarian socialism? What exactly does that mean? Seems like kind of a contradiction in terms.

  • @prokrastinatorSF Not really, mate.

You're stuck on the idea of Liberty being tied to economic factors; That to be 'Free' you must also be a capitalist. If Liberty means freedom, then theoretically you could argue that only socialism can truly give one freedom; for example, freedom from being afraid of starving, freedom from fear that a bank will foreclose on your home. Freedom from the fear of poverty. Freedom from selling labour to individuals who would give you as little possible in return?

  • @lindonlugh

I totally agree with you, but that's not Libertarianism. Libertarianism is premised on the belief that all taxes are inherently bad, and that the government should not intervene in the free market, even for social good. What you're arguing for sounds like Social Democracy/Democratic Socialism, which BreakYourChains specifically said he was against. He said capitalism was a virus but he did not support socialism, so I want to know what he does support.

  • Social democracy has worked very well for the people of Sweden and other countries of Europe, resulting in longer and healthier average life spans and greater levels of satisfaction with life than in the US. It was strong labor unions and their political engagement in the first half of the 20th Century that created the social democratic systems in places like Sweden.

  • very strong song...although I feel sad for people like Bragg who think socialism will salvage society...it was proven it can`t be..
