@pepsyboo, the genetics here are a lot more complicated than even that. Mayzie left Horton a fertilized egg, with DNA already intact. How could it possibly be an "elephant" bird? DNA transfer by osmosis?

lol i was mr.mayor at my schools version and our elephant was like a real stuffed elephant bird that some girl in the cast found like in there closet! It was so funny cause in the dress rehirsal we were like running around the stage trying to find the elephant bird untill someone found it
