  • Savard was the spin-o-rama king. Nobody has ever mastered this technique as he did.

  • wow amazing!!!! i wish i lived in america so i could enjoy watchin more hockey instead we got piss ant football poofs that float round gettin payed far too much while doin balerina impressions!!

  • Greatest goal ever against Edmonton,no question.

  • why does this not have his goal against edmonton.......

  • this guy can spin like a mofo

  • I wish the full video was still up on youtube.. I'd like to have it

  • easily one of the 5 greatest centers ever.

  • anyone know what song is playing through the highlights?

  • as a Chicago Blackhawk.*

  • This video is from highlights they showed the night #18 was retired never to be worn again by a Blackhawk. I was there. This guy was a treat to watch. When he had the puck the Stadium stood up and roared. All I got to say is thank you Montreal for picking Doug Wickenheiser. We were more then happy to watch your hometown boy for 13 years at a Chicago Blackhawk.

  • Savard was one of the greats. And you gotta love Pat Foley with the calls

  • try again. Savard played for 13 years before Kovalev even came into the league

  • bobby orr was doing spin a ramas and coast to coasts before any of them

  • @beatleboy9020001

And Doug Harvey was doing spin-o-ramas before Orr.

  • @beatleboy9020001 ya umm fuck boby orr this is a savard video i dont even understand why any other people are being brought up dennis is the man skill wise and personality who cares who came up with the spin o rama thats stupid to argue about the fact is savard is a great player

  • Funny because I see MANY SIMILARITIES between Kovalev's style and Savard's. Almost uncanny how similar.

His skates even look similar to Kovalev's. :P

  • Other way around, Savard was before Kovalev and even then Kovalev couldn't hold Savards jock strap in skating prowess.

  • @TheHockeyCentral lol ya I noticed the same thing and Kovalev also does that spin move sometimes and the skates also look similar lol !!!

  • @AK27445094 The skates are what really got me. Kovalev loves the RBK 9k's with the white back/trim.

  • My fav Gretz & Lemieux were to popular

    i liked Denis the most

  • One of the best to ever dawn a hawks uniform.

  • one of the best players of all time. how does he do it??

  • I just LOVE somebody who can't even acknowledge the greatness of a player.

Yeah, Wayne Gretzky got his 92 goals 'coz ALL the goalies were bad that year.

Denis Savard was great. Just say it.

  • I KNOW

  • @melies138 you're a dumbass... he had four two hundred plus point seasons... and a goalie isn't the only reason the other team is able to score... it also has to do with the players, the forwards and the defense can also prevent goals.

  • @XXhockeylifeXX ur gettin a thumbs down. not because you aren't right, cuz you may be, but cuz you spoke rudely. really, there was no point in calling them that.

  • Man he was amazing! I saw one where he did a mohawk and got by the defenseman... I really think he was one of the greatest.

  • savarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrd! gotta love foley

  • music sucks. what were you thinking?

  • love the blackhawks

    DENIS SAVARD PWNS!! =]

  • Yay Denis - Boo music!

  • it sounds like a coffee comercial

  • Denis Savard was magic

  • lol i just searched my naem lol . do the same .. see what happens

  • change the music

  • he looks just like my neighbor just with hair. lol

  • Dennis Savard a damn good player he was

  • OK, Yoda.

  • Sam Pollock would've never drafted Doug Wickenheiser instead of Denis Savard. What a huge blunder by the Habs.

  • man he does the spin so well

  • GREAT moustache

  • the future all time great player are gonna be.

    ovechkin

    crosby

    kane

    toews

    kolvochuck

  • And Andrei Kostitsyn :D

  • i to that one :)

  • How about We just give them time, and appreciate the ones who inspired them

  • Gretzky couldn't skate as well as everybody else but he still has more goals, assists and points than anybody else ever

    1.Gretzky

    2.Lemieux

    3.Orr

    4.Bure

    5.Savard

  • Orr

    Howe

    Gretzky

    Lemieux

    Richard (or Hull)

  • Bobby or Brett

  • Gretzky couldn't skate like that in his wildest dreams!!!

    1.Orr

    2.Savard

    3.Lafleur

    4.Bure

    5.Salming

All these men could skate rings around Gretzky

  • If we are just talking spectacular...not best

    1. Gretzky (in any category)

    2. Savard

    3. Orr

    4. Bure

    5. Oveshkin

With honors to Jagr, Lafleur, Richard, Yzerman and Bossy.

  • spectacular huh? Weird to see Ovechkin there, probably because of ONE famous goal by him. Hes not that spectacular, hes just great...

  • I'll give you the falling down, stick behind the back thing was ridiculiously good, but for now I'll stick him in the Bure category. One of the best guns of the NHL now: Sure. All time great: No.

  • That was supposed to be a reply to malaladddd, not a comment about Savvi.

  • all you guys who re ranking all time greats; please stop putting pavel bure on the list so high. when did that little shit show up for playoffs? where are the bossy's, denis potvins, howes on your lists?

  • No Lafleur in that top 5???

    1-Lemieux

    2-Orr

    3-Lafleur

    4-Savard

    5-Perreault

These are the 5 most spectacular players of the last 40 years.

  • 1.Lemieux

    2.Gretzky

    3.Orr

    4.Howe

    5.Savard

  • 2nd to gretzky

  • No, No, No

  • Growing up in Minnesota, I HATED the Blackhawks, but that was one of the best rivalries in the NHL. Savard was and is a class act, and I have a TON of respect for him. All kids that want to be hockey players should watch him skate and stickhandle. His "spin-o-rama" is a classic. Hopefully he can get the Hawks back on track.

  • @ VidGuy-

I agree with you 100%. I'm an old North Stars fan as well. Looking back at the Chi vs. Min rivalries, they were on par with the old Edmonton/Calgary and Toronto/Montreal. Nothing like them in the NHL.

Savard was under-rated because he didn't play on the east coast. As coach, he has a ton of talent on the new Black Hawks' team to get them back on top. That will be just in time for the potential realignment and back in a division with Minny.

  • Great Comments. I am a Blackhawks fan, but really miss the old North Stars-Hawks rivalry. I Loved watching Dino Ciccarelli, Willi Plett, Neal Broten and other North Stars battle it out with Savard, Al Secord, Doug Wilson and the rest of the Hawks. Those were great days in the Old Chicago Stadium and the Met Center in Bloomington.

  • Savvy is a class act. I hope he can get the Hawks turned around. The young kids they got now remind me of the Savard, Larmer, Secord Hawks of the 80s.

  • What's really amazing is that Savard wasn't the 1st player picked in the draft. He went 3rd behind Babych & Wickenheiser. I didn't realize how truly great he was until a few years after he was in the league because Wirtz & Co. did not televise home or road games back then!!! Imagine if the Bears or Cubs did that?

    What a Mickey Mouse operation!

  • Great vid. Savard was my favourite player growing up. I remember having a tape that had this amazing goal by Savard that made him my fav. player. Unfortunately I can't find it now :(. It's not the one that's already posted on youtube and was posted on tsn's top 10 goals. It was better!..

  • when i played youth hockey i copyed my moves from savard

  • Explique moi comment ont fait pour dejouer ce gars-la???? SPIN-O-RAMA

  • the most underrated hockey super star.has all the moves, over shadowed by gretzkys oilers in the 80s.

  • whaat a dangler

  • One of a kind. Probably the biggest single reason I fell in love with this sport. If you're ever trying to make a non-fan appreciate the thrill of hockey, show them this vid. Then throw in a Probert fight to seal the deal.

  • I was there when they retired his number. My Uncle Said to me, "This place sounds like the Old Barn when they introduced Savvy." Good times, that was Blackhawk Hockey.

  • This guy and the cassano brothers are the reason I still play hockey!!!

    Inspiration....

  • Good video, I am happy someone finally put something up for him. That was the video from when they retired his jersey.

  • Nice video!

  • awsome. brought back so many memories of my hockey idol. thanks

  • My Pleasure!!!!!
