  • Comment removed

  • after watching this video , I made this cornbread tonight at dinner, I love it easpecially that i don't like sweet cornbread, I used regular cornmeal, did you use stone-ground? i only have one complaint about all cornbread recipes , they always dry no moist on them, what do you serve it with? thanks

  • @SweetDreams1430 serve with beans any kind any way--complete protein, corn and beans. complementary amino acids

  • You don't use flour or baking powder or sugar in traditional Southern cornbread!

  • use AP flour, baking powder and baking soda to the recipe. will come out softer.

  • umm..u kno u have 15 mins to record right?

  • As I am a Goddam Limey.......is this a good recipe? I ask because when I visited Boston a couple of years ago, I tried this and thought it was delicious! I cannot find Cornmeal over here but I have read that Polenta will do?

  • @RitmoNo1 Whole point of Cornbread is Cornmeal In europe it's Polenta yellow ..ground corn

  • thats the way my 87 year old mother does it.....in a 50 year old cast iron skillet thats been temperd for a half century

  • OK WAT TARD DISLIKED THIS

  • OOOO LAWDDD I IS EATEN ME SUM CONE BRED WIT MY CHIKENZ N GRAPE DRANK

  • just look at that, it looks so thick! it didn't even rise. besides i don't think there's much flavour in it.

  • Man, some onion and jalapeno? Son, make your tongue slap yo brains out!

  • How well does a substitution of sour milk (milk with a small amount of lemon juice or vinegar mixed in) work if you cannot find buttermilk in the supermarkets?

  • thank you jesus. wtf is up with all of these sugar babies that want to put sugar in friggin cornbread. I don't get Americans, are they all 3 years old and need desert for dinner?

I went to the store and bought ready made cornbread and almost choked when i bit into it and it was like eating cake. I don't get sweet cornbread. It's so foreign to me why anyone would want sweet cornbread. Cornbread tastes yummy all by itself.

    Once again thank you.

  • @shakaama idk i like sweet :) im asian

  • i remember mom used to makes this on sundays its used to come in a blue jiffy mix box

  • A bit too much salt for me.

I use about a spoonful or two of honey, ginger powder, and top it off with cinnamon. A touch of cornstarch and vanilla extract will keep it cohesive and add a bit more flavor.

  • @ujProduction me too and somehow it locks itself and gives me a plate wit not even the crumbs the gives me a satified beep

  • If you want bread, don't add sugar. If you want cake, add sugar.

  • lol

  • @jwc1480 but what i love about corn bread IS that it is like cake :P

  • I use the recipe on the back of Dixie Mills stone ground corn meal from Rome, Georgia.

GOOOD! and sweet too just like I like it.

  • hw do u eat cornbead ? wat does it go wit? butter?

  • put butter on it but eat it with turnip greens.

  • This recipe sounds like it needs some tweaking. She said it's an "unsweetened corn bread," but a corn bread usually needs just a slight amount of sugar (about 3 tablespoons). The teaspoon of salt in this recipe is also too much. I would omit the salt. If you must have salt, I would decrease it to 1/2 teaspoon. Nothing is worse than a dish which is oversalted.

  • unless its too sweet and 3 tablespoons of sugar would turn it into cake...

  • Somebody replied that 3 tablespoons of sugar would turn this cornbread into cake. This is hardly true. I have tried many cornbread recipies, with the sugar content ranging from 1 tablespoon to 2/3 cup, depending on how sweet one likes his or her cornbread. Cake recipes usually call for 1 1/2 to 2 cups of sugar.

  • MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

  • too much information

  • I loooove corn bread. I like them sweet though.

  • so 450 for roughly20-25min..4 Tb butter in skillet until melted 3-5min (10in or 9in square pan)...1 1/2 C corn meal, 1C flour, 2 ts. baking powder,1ts salt....2 eggs, 1 3/4 C buttermilk, large pinch salt...add butter to egg mix...then addhtat to dry ingredients....mix until lumpy and flour moisened!

  • If I was on death row and could only have one meal left on this earth that would be it omg that looked good

  • 230 or there abouts

  • Well assembled. sub n fav!

  • will it be ok if i use self rising four???

  • Yeah but if you use self rising flour you don't need baking powder :)

  • this is great!

    thx for uploading

    by the way,450degree is c or f???

  • f lol 450 c would char it

  • Looks delicious. Corn bread is great with a nice southern style dinner. Fried chicken for example.
