  • what model .308 were you using ?

  • Nice shooting

  • Nice shooting

  • just wondering . but on your first shots where you aiming right at the target with out the wind ?

  • Most Impressive. I am a long range shooter and have a precision 308, but I would never have dreamt of a shot past 1000yd with it. After watching this, I may just have to give it a try. Great shooting. This kind of shooting is nothing short of extreme precision. Requires much skill.

  • @trueX5 you got a vid of your claim?

  • how big is the target?

  • @RyanMcVicker Mini-IPSC sized....approximately 11" wide and 18" tall.

  • i just want to know what's the longest effective range for the 7.62x54r 200 grain brown bear round

  • nice shot 's man!

  • 1500 yd shot with a 20" barrel...NICE

  • From your personal experience, what would you say the max effective range of the .308 is......For example, what is the farthest range you could get a 70 percent hit ratio? And I don't mean a cold bore shot, but after some warming up.

  • I've watched several times still no joy. No worries, the shooting alone is worth watching; BOOM! Going over to the truck for a cold one who else? I'll take one. Me too. Here's a Shiner Bock for ya fellas. Gulp gulp. Gulp gulp gulp. So did I hit it? We're still waiting. . . . . . . . . . . . clank. Yep. Nice shot. "
  • @kevjay777 Nice!

  • I never can see those vapor trails everyone says they can see.

  • @kevjay777 look for a blur in the shape of a rainbow that looks a little like matrix shit

  • Good shooting!

kinda random but if you're ever looking for a suppressor for any of your rifles or pistols, here in Idaho we have a very good company called GemTech. Love precision long range, we do it quite a bit out here but in more mountainous ranges though, still Great shooting man!

  • very good I must say, but drop 250 yards off and drop the scope and use a .223 round and see what you can hit :) Being Prior USMC 1997-2003 I hit 56/65 shells @ 1200 yards unscoped with the AR-15. Of course I had a spotter and was able to plot and adjust between each shot but still, very nice shooting.

  • thats impressive...so far ive gone out to a grand with my sps varmint, need more upgrades

  • very nice, Scotty. inspiration for long range shooters everywhere, and certainly helped me with what i'll buy down the road.

  • Impessive, 1485 yards with a Remington 700 .308 is some pretty good shooting (NO THAT IS NOT ME BASHING ON THE REMINGTON &))< INFACT THAT IS MY FAVORITE SNIPER SYSTEM... the Remington 700 SPS tactical AAC-SD that is) good job man! I think that I could probably only shoot out to 500 yards, then again I have no training... I am guessing you are military or law enforcement? Sincerely- Brownnz.

  • lol everybody on here is trying ti guess where ur at! ha

  • Good job. Looks like a great place to shoot.

  • I need better friends with better guns

  • What are your thoughts about a 30-06? Can anyone give me your thought please

  • @Djnova11 Ballistic wise, .308 is pretty much the same. So I'd assume, with practice, you could do similar stuff.

  • That's CA for sure, I know my state. Would be willing to bet it's Mojave. Good shooting, I'm new at precision and hope to be making shots like this some day.

  • @socalfrijolito

    Nevada.

  • @scottys1 I live in Nevada, yet I had no clue where that could be. Is that mt. charleston in the backround though?

  • @hellow533 Nope, nowhere even close to Clark County.

  • @scottys1 Yea, I'm in clark.

    Oh well, I tried :)

  • @hellow533 you know your state awfully well..

  • @1nicknick599 It all looks the same bro.

  • @scottys1 Elko county?

  • very nice shooting sir, i love how an m40 with 155 grains at 2940fps can really reach out and give somebody a telephone call ;)

  • target trace would be outside of the scope so bullet race is incorrect

  • 7.62mm is good ammo, great for long range work. But at theses distances it's at the outside limit of it's range. For some one that know's what he's doing yes its completly possible to hit a target that far away with a 308 rifle. He just proved it.

    Damn fine shooting.

  • you guys are so fucking lucky!!

  • where did you get one of these badboys and how much did it cost?

  • I am planning on replacing my 30-06 for a .308 so bad! The gun range has a .338 for $526 but I just want a .308.

  • Is this in the Mojave in SoCal? I shoot distance in Joshua Tree, CA almost every week. I use the .308 and the .280 AI never been out to 1500 but I do 1000-1200 3 out of 5 times.

  • What desert were u in? The California desert like in palm dale or palm springs?

  • what ammo pouch is that ive been looking everywhere for one

  • You just missed that jack rabbit .I could see it licking its lucky foot . heheheh.

  • wow 1500 yrds thats some good shooting

  • good shooting

  • That's awesome man. I need to stretch my .308 Win a little farther one of these days. I was getting a bullet time of flight of like 4 seconds, am I close? 6 seconds time from "boom" to "clink".

  • Sorry - just caught the ammo used in the video. Scenars 155s out to 1500! Absolutely amazing for such a light round. What twist for the barrel (1-12")? I am looking for a 1000yd round for my DPMS SASS, but it has an 18" barrel with 1-10" twist, so I don't think I will have enough for the smaller 155 Scenars. Guess I will have to use something very heavy (maybe a Sierra Matchking in the 190-220gr range, or a 168gr A-Max). Any suggestions are appreciated?

  • @johnlong001

Twist is 11.25, so 1:12 is close. Depending on your altitude, 1000 with an 18" would not be too bad. I would start with the Sierra 175MK, that is probably your best bet. I've shot the 168MK to 1000 with a 16" AR10, but that bullet was not designed for those ranges.

  • @scottys1 is there any kind of ballistic like calculators out there were it can help you know where your bullets going and how to make the clicks? thanks.

  • @MrBobsrevenge Xbal program

  • @johnlong001 168s are good for around 1200 but the 175s or 208s are good in the wind but mainly what ever your rifle likes and how hot you gan get a load oh and turret adjustment room for lobing those 208s

  • @johnlong001 A 10 twist will be just fine using a 155gr. bullet. Sierra makes a 155gr Palma Match King that should get out of your 18" bbl at around 2650 or so. As for powder, try 46grs of Varget. I'd start there but the heavier bullets are going to be hard to get the speed neccessary. Just my opinion.

  • the shot was great. but i am more impressed with your after shot actions. you obviously have some training beyond "hunter safety" lol. not many people reactively run the bolt and prep for next engagement. Nicely Done.

  • i heard it hit. had to adjust my volume so it's on the max, manually adjust it down for the shot then turn it all the way up. ping at 2:07 lol

  • In my opinion You have to go with a magnum rifle if you want to rock a long range .30 cal, otherwise there's much better calibers to choose from.

    Nice shooting though.

  • @MNel86 Well depends what you are trying to do. If you are trying to kill a person, yes 1500 is a bit much for a 308, even 1000 is pushing it. Here these guys are just trying to see how far out they can accurately reach a steel target with a round that's rated for 800-1000 yards max. I would definately reach for a .338 lapua or even a 50 bmg if I was in the military and needed something with more punch at that distance.

  • @iviaverick52

"Here these guys are just trying to see how far out they can accurately reach a steel target" - And for that there are more efficient non-magnum options than the .308 Winchester, especially at 1500 yards.

I understand they were just playing with what they had, that's cool but I just made the statement so novice people don't think the .308 is the end-all be-all of long range rifles. Frankly long range .308s bore as it seems just about everyone and mother has one.

  • @MNel86 - .308 is not considered a magnum round (that would be the 300 Win Mag). I know some BR guys shooting 6mm out to 1000, and some 7mm Rem Mag out to almost 2000, but 1500 yards is a HELL of a range out of a .308 (especially for a 22" barrel) - I am impressed. Usually a 308 is supersonic out to about 900-1100. Wonder what ammo the shooter was using? Was it a "turned" solid brass bullet (BC .7) with 46 grains of black powder? haha.

  • @iviaverick52 Yeah it's just a matter of what you are in the mood to shoot for the day. If you get into the big distance/efficiency argument then it gets to the point where someone tries to justify buying a 120mm howitzer to blow up a bunker 20 miles away lol!

  • nice, especially for a light round like the 155.

If I have seen it o.k., seems the mirage travelles a bit to the right.

Did you have to click much to the left?

I shoot the M40A1 myself with 167gr. lapua scenar.

Works like a charm, ha ha.

  • Great shooting! Where would I be able to get stock and scope covers like those?

  • @pimpedprobe

Check Triad Tactical for stuff like that, they can also point you in the right direction.

  • jeez, that was some nice shooting! They would get hit before they heard the shot.

  • you can hear the ding at 1:58

  • Comment removed

  • how far above the target did you have to aim at that distance ie 5ft 10ft 20ft etc. I realize you could adjust the scope but if not adjusted how far above target???

  • Were are you shooting at? What state?

  • @guns4funca looks like Nevada

  • Cool video

  • Crack-Bang (12345) next time put a camera near the target, you will know what I it is to use the Crack Bang theory. I love it! I'm sure you already know of it.

  • Crack-Bang (12345)

  • haha thats awsome nice shooting

  • ive been looking at rock creek for a while and im working on a model 70 post 64' action....basically the same as the rem 700 in terms of bolt type...but its a .300 win mag...i cant decide weather to go with a 24" or not.

  • really nice shot...best caliber

  • great job scotty , one of our snipers shot a target at 1100 meters ..big mac did well..so did you dude..thumbs up!!

    doc

  • I swear i heard a 3rd hit right when you finished saying, i was in the conditions there for a second. I saw the dirt kick up but still it sounded like a ding :P

  • What scope did you use? If you don't mind me asking. Unbelievable shots by the way!

  • one question....mabye i`m wrong but i think that the m40 was just for the USMC.

    tks

  • this is quite a show of skill. im very impressed. one question, WHY CANT I HAVE A PLACE TO SHOOT LIKE THAT!?!?!?!?!

  • thats mental

  • How much energy and velocity does the bullet have at that kind of range? Maybe 800fps?

  • @jakester475 enough! lol

  • @jakester475 According to my ballistics calculator, a 155gr Lapua scenar, loaded to 2940 fps, in what I assume is conditions similar to my area (Nevada desert), It should be traveling at around 1170 fps (should be just over supersonic), with around 470 ft-lbs of energy. Just over most 9mm JHP +p+, and some .40 cal ammo. Id say plenty of balls to do some damage. Someone please correct me if i'm way off, but its just about the same load I use so I just used my load for this calculation.

  • No ding?

At 1500 yards the wave length must be out of human range by the time it makes it back to you :)

  • @sirhcskoorb Actually, we could hear it with amplified ear pro on. The video mic barely picked it up, and the compression to get it on Youtube eliminated it pretty much completely.

  • I love the .308 myself, nice video. Long range game ROCKS!

  • congratulations; very nice rig and outstanding job. I would love to see more clips of your shootings. be blessed and enjoy long range shooting buddy.

  • Nice video. How long is your barrel?

  • @goldenstaple It's a 22" Rock Creek.

  • .308 is nice. I have accurately engaged targets at 1400m with a 240B machine gun in Afghanistan with iron sight. The bullet drop is ridiculous but fairly consistent.

  • @stevolous

I can only imagine what a careful MG gunner and a competent spotter could do......

  • what optics

  • @fastedos1969

    Nightforce NXS 22x

  • Theres a lot of nothing out there, you could run for a week and people could still see you.

  • 155's at 1500?? That's insane! Now you've got me wanting to try out a new load that isn't a 175smk for my 5r. What brass/primers/powder/load are you using?

  • @Maat922

Lapua brass, Varget powder, Federal 210M primer.

  • @Maat922 I think he's sitting up on a ridge and shooting down. He's really having to arch that bullet. Cool video though. I love how long it takes to get there until we see dust

  • how big is your barrel i got the 700 vtr 308 can i shoot that far

  • wow thats one far piece nice though

  • Surprisingly the most impressive part of this video to me is how fast you work the bolt after the shot. Very professional. The shooting is beyond words, I had thought of trying 1800 yards with my 6.5-284 Norma but may give the .308 a try at this range. What bullet are you shooting, 175 SMK or something exotic maybe?

  • @MrSurgicalPrecision

Thanks for the comments, using the 155gr Lapua Scenar at 2950fps. Much rather be shooting a fast 6.5 for half the drift.....!

  • @scottys1 Crazy man. The spin drift must be insane at that range? How does the Scenar compare to the Palma SMK? I shoot scenars through my Grendel and 6.5-284 but i like the SMKs almost as well.

  • @scottys1 Crazy man. The spin drift must be insane at that range? How does the Scenar compare to the Palma SMK? I shoot scenars through my Grendel and 6.5-284 but i like the SMKs almost as well. Next time you rebarrel you think you might be trying the .260AI or maybe even 6.5x47 Lapua?

  • @MrSurgicalPrecision

I have not shot the Palma SMK to this range, but I think that the Scenar outperforms it inside of 1000yds. I really like the 175SMK as well, have shot it to 1200yds with no problem, I am sure it would do well beyond. This gun is staying a .308 even when I rebarrel, but I think my next build will be a mid-range 6mm, for 1000yds and under. I like the 6.5x47 a lot, it's a better "1-gun fits all" cartridge, but if you can have more than one, a 6mm is more fun on the light side.

  • @scottys1 Cool yeah man can't beat a .308 for good accurate and factory available ammo or reloading components. I've got a buddy that just bought a Rem SPS Varminter in .243 Win for a 1000 yard gun. Kinda anxious to see how it performs. I'm guessing he'll need a glass bed, free float, and trigger job to shoot like a dream. So yeah i hear you on the 6mm thing. Interesting that the 6mm PPC can actually out do the 6.5 Grendel at 1000 slightly.

  • Is that a 20'' barrel?

  • NICE shooting!

  • great vid, but why didnt u have a target cam like your other vids?? it makes it much better

  • what kind of stock did you use?

  • Thanks for the info. I am shooting fn spr 20bbl getting about 2800+ 4895. Id love to be able to push it a little faster. Even at 2900 im surprised the bullet has not gone transonic at 1540.. Great video again though. Thanks for the info. Also I watched your .223 video along time ago and it inspired me to get a bull Barrel .223. I have not made hits past 600 yards yet though. Where I shoot more often than not it is very tough shooting though.

  • I shoot long range.. 308 at 800 yards plus.. I must say this video is pretty freaking impressive. What were the conditions like that day? I shoot the palma at about 2800 fps.. And all though it bucks the wind pretty good even at 800-1000 yards I get some drift. If you could email or message me I would love to talk about some more details about your handload and rifle! Thanks Jeremy

  • @jcm151 Typical medium mirage, variable breezes. Not the best, for sure, as I was not able to see my own trace and had to rely on others spotting. Anything at those ranges is doing to drift a lot, there is no way to read all the conditions. The load uses Lapua cases, Varget, and 155 Lapua Scenars. It is a safe hot-weather load, getting the bullets to ~2930 in the 22" 5R Rockcreek barrel.

  • @scottys1 Hey, you know more about this rifle than i do...what action are you using? And would you avise me to get a Rock Creek Barrel for my winchester model 70 post 64? Its either that, or im going to get a savage 10flcpk bolt action. I cant really decide..not only that, im left handed. And i prefer a .300 win mag, which is what my win model 70 is chambered in

  • @fireball676 Your Win70 Post is a decent rifle, similar to the Remington in many ways. The M40A1 is built on a Remington 700 action. .300WM, though not the ideal cartridge from the reloading standpoint, is a proven LR winner. Yeah, re-barrel the 300WM with a Rockcreek, Schneider, Pacnor, Kreiger, or similar heavy barrel. Find a decent stock, bed it, and you are off and running.

  • @scottys1 Thanks very much, ive been debating this for a while. the bolt is kinda skuffed on the winchester, but has no efect of functionality. I cant quite figure out where it came from but the gunsmith apparently approved it. But yes thanks, and by the way, 1500 yards with a .308 is pretty damn impressive. I hope to find a place to shoot that far. There are no 1000 yard ranges in TN.

  • That is impressive. Nice set up! I would love to shoot that far but i just dont have the money to do it have to stick with 800 yards

  • I meant to say 100fps slower.

  • Very impressive! 5/5!

  • akxallxdayx....for one.....your dead wrong and your an idiot....for two learn some facts before you project yourself as such a retard.

  • The .30-06 is great i use it to hunt i dont no why the US Military down graded to the .308 it was a waist of time and money.

  • Its not a waste of time and money, its all about drag ect, also the fact that it would cost hundreds of thousands to gear the industry to making 30-06 again.

  • The .308 is a far more accurate than the 30-06.

Lots of people assume by having a bigger case it is better for long range shooting but this is not true.

Look at most competition target shooters. Why do you think they changed to .308

A 155g projectile going 3000 fps in a small easy to carry short action round. What more could you want?

  • @AKxALLxDAYx The .308 is a modified 30-06. The 30-06 is proportionally to long relative to the diameter. This creates an uneven powder burn and causes far more recoil then necessary. By shortening the case and modifying the neck and shoulder, the .308 was created. It shoots the same bullet 100fps with far less recoil. Look at any modern long range round such as the .300RUM, WSM, 6.8mm, etc... they all have short fat cases. Thats why the 30-06 was dumped.

  • so a 338 lapua?

  • Fine shooting...wish we had open areas like that to go shooting at distance. Gotta stick to ranges because the east coast is pretty populated.

  • Nice shooting.

Anna head to walmart and you can pick some up for $20 a box. Thats about as cheap as they get unless you self load.

  • hey does anybody know the cheapest .308 ammo out there? I am only going to be shooting about 600 yards and less so I dont need top of the line ammo I just need whats cheap. can anyone help?

  • boooooo learn stuff

  • uhh walmart dude

  • @floridabowhunter your kidding right? my wallmart isnt alowed to even sell rifle ammo!

  • where the fuck do you live? every Florida walmart has rifle ammo, and def. 308 one of the most common center fire rounds

  • @floridabowhunter minnosota, the state were you cant own supperesers or automatic guns but you can open carry.

  • Argentina. If your getting 2.5 inches at 500 meters, thats sub 1/2 inch MOA.Rule of thumb is if you can shoot 1MOA at any range your doing good.I would stick with the same load and Pill to shoot 800 meters. Its good that your loading diffrent bullets for your rifle,Every gun is diffrent.I find for my M40 and M24,Varget and 175SMK work best for longrange.Faster isnt always best.Work up your charge and you should be fine.God Bless Texas!

  • Forgot to mention a not that important tool, i use a 20x42 SWFA Super Sniper

  • Hi from Argentina! a ihave a CZ550 Varmint laminated, 1:12 - 25,6in long. Im loading 47gr. of IMR4895, Hornady SST 150gr, 72mm OAL, Winchester brass and "stopping power" primers (russian, poor match quality, the only thing allowed by law here) this round goes 2955fps and 3050 with 48gr. WITH OUT PRESSURE PROBLEMS!

    With the 2955fps i grup 5 shots at 2,5" in 500mts (10,6 MOA up from 100mts zero)

I try Sierra's MK PALMA 155gr, and now order some Hornady 168gr A-MAX.

    Advice to reach 850mts? Nacho

  • Jeenyus,Shooting anything at those ranges are not ethical. If you want to hunt larger game definetly go with 300 win mag or even 300 wsm.I hunt elk with 300 widow makers and anything past 450yds is probably pushin it.

  • Damn fine Shootin Scotty1.The M40 is one of my favorites. God Bless America!

  • If you want to Shoot Long Range and hit targets consistantly. You will need to obtain Match Grade Ammo.HPBT are excellent with its high BC.Ammo is expensive usually costing $2 per round in a retail store. If you take the time to reload your own ammo. You will find that you can produce ammo that is custom made for each rifle you own.If you get good enough your ammo will far exceed the quality and accuracy of factory ammo at half the cost.Happy Shooting!

  • I have many LR rifles from custom AR10s to Bolts. The best buy out there is a Remington 700 5R or the Remington 700 police in 300win mag or 308win.With the correct set up 308 will take you out to 1000yds and you should hold MOA out to 800yds anything past that is pushing it.300 Win mag will take you out consistantly at 1200 to 1400yds.You can buy both these weapons in either caliber for under $1000.If you want to shoot 1500yds LR like Scotty1 consistantly your going to have to get a custom rifle.

  • I just bought a fn-ar in .308 for a good M.B.R. that I can hunt larger game with. a friend of mine says i will be disapointed with it for anything more than 600 yards. He says the .308 is lousy for long range. he's trying to talk me into a .300 win mag. I want to shoot up to 1000 yards. any info would be appreciated...thanks guys

  • I wouldn't be hunting at unethical ranges no matter how much power I had. You are talking about target shooting, right? The .300 is easier to hit with at LR, but also costs more to shoot and is harder on barrels. The .308 does fine up to 1000yds when executed properly.

  • so like would a Remington 700 modle be alright with a 26" heavy barrle the guns for like $577 be good and i have a lupold 6-24x50 reticle scope and so a box of wolf ammo wouldnt be any good there $10 for 20 ill be shooting more at like 6-800 yards hear in iowa or would that cheap ammo work for about that far idk if ill find many 1000 yard shots hear

  • Pretty much...Basicly-Id like a rifle thats a good Go-To gun-I'm sure elk wouldnt be a problem... But if these certain sprung out Zombies that just happen to wear baby blue helmets and vests that happen to have the bold letters UN on them decide to come for my family when we are "camping" I'd like to be able to drop em @ 1000 yards(bottom line) and still have something with some mag. cap. of 20+

  • @Jeenyus1983 how is that FN-AR treating you. I cant decide weather to buy an AR, FNAR, Kel-tec RFB, or just to get a bolt action .308 for 1000 yards. I have a .300 win mag. And let me tell you, it kicks harder than any gun ive ever shot...and ive shot a lot of guns. This is because you can slim down a .300 win mag and it kicks like a mule. Get a .300 with a muzzle break and you will be happy.

  • @fireball676 Honestly-I owe 2 payments before its officially mine-so hopefully in another month or so...I looked into the ar10,the M1A,FAL,etc and everything about the FN-AR is superior(in my opinion) cleaner running, more accurate, less weight, proven design,etc-cant beat the FNAR-unless you go with the SX-AR!!-SAME GUN- for 500 less(minus the longer top rail and lower forend rails) PM me for more info

  • @Jeenyus1983 the worlds longest kill shot in war was a .50 at about a mile and a half......the second was a .308 at i believe was a little over a 1000 yards so ya ill let the facts do the talking

  • @23JK35 Yeah-I'm a big .308 fan! I only have 1 payment left untill I get my new SX-AR in .308 win is mine!! @ 1200-for the same gun as the FN-AR-minus tac rails and 500 bucks! 20 round mag cap-some say you can get 30 rounders-but I've yet to see it! if things get sticky here in the states-that will be my MBR!

  • @Jeenyus1983 ya and if your looking for a gun to definately take 1000 yard shots on animals which is kinda retarded anyway i would take a good look at a 7mm win mag, the ballistics on it are beautiful

  • @Jeenyus1983 scratch that, 7mm weatherby mag

  • 4x- most go with a Remington model700. Different versions of that gun, just depends on what you want to spend. Howa also makes a decent one. Savage also. The Remington has a larger aftermarket base, though. Just bought one today. Cant wait to shoot her.

  • thats some serious .308 work! good job, what barrel length are you running? i use a 20" .308 out to around 1000 meters with 175gr SMK, does well but a longer tube would definitely help.

  • This one is a 22" Rock Creek barrel. I had a 20" Hart that I used to shoot to 1200yds, it did fine. I have a 16" AR-10 that shoots to 1000yds on good days.

  • if i get a 308 for shooting long range is any make and modle work or are some just not good at all and can the cheap ammo work or will that effect it to much

  • The better equipment you get, the less you will have to fight it. To start, buy a basic Remington, FN, or Tikka and a GOOD scope. You will have to spend around $1 per round minimum.

  • Thanks for the info Sir.I will look them up this week.Looking forward to more Vids from you in the future.

  • Going to Reno in Feb.Any Advice on a Good out door shooting range for Long distance?

  • The PVGC holds long range matches and practice days at the Washoe County Shooting facility. Google "Palomino Valley Gun Club", and contact the practice and LR match directors for details.

  • any shooting vids coming in the near future?

  • Yes. When I can....

  • Hey Scottys1.Can you tell me what seating into the lands of the bullet means?Im reading how seating a certain distance off the lands makes a diffrence in pressures and accuracy.I go off of the C.O.A.L when loading my .308.Sorry for my ignorance.

  • Took it out to 1000yds today at a dry Lake bed outside Las Vegas. Was hitting a 9x12 plate with regularity shooting175 SMK.Ordered Varget yesterday and will take your advice on working up the charge.I am new to the reloading game and find there is alot to learn,Advice is appreciated.Cant find lapua brass, will have to use FC and Black Hills Match for now.If you know where I can track some down, let me know.Hopefully I cant spank my Larue at 1500yds soon. Thanks

  • Would you mind giving me your loading data for 175s as well?I didnt think it was possible to hit targets out that far with 308 consistantly, great camera work to get the Swirls! What are your likes and dislikes for shooting these grains at long range?Do you have a go to load for Extreme long range in 308?In my Hodgdon and New edition Sierra book it only has Varget pushing 155s at 2800fps for the max load.2925fps is screamin. Are your loads rated over the Max?Thanks for your time.

  • I use Varget for 175's as well. The reason I do not share the exact charge is because my charge will not necessarily work for you. One of the principles of reloading is working up the charge to your personal target velocity, ensuring that is stays within acceptable pressure ranges. If you have never done this, now is the time to learn. Actually, in my gun 2925 is still about a grain short of HOT. It works fine in 100F as well. Some guns can do 2950, some can only do 2850. Use Lapua brass.

  • Great Shooting! Can you give me your loading data for your 155s?Would you reccomend 155s or 175s at this long range?I am using a Remington PSS in 308 and want to load some long range ammo. Thanks

  • I've only taken the 175s out to 1200, but I suspect that the results are probably about the same in practice. Out to 1000, I have likes and dislikes about both. You might have an easier time getting 175s to shoot well. Run the 155s to ~2925fps with Varget and Lapua brass, if the pressure in your chamber will allow.

  • Do you have a 20moa base on or can you dial enough to get out there with the 308. Great shooting.

  • 20MOA base is critical for optics with less than 120+ MOA total vertical adjustment.

  • Awesome!!!!

  • I'd be lucky to get a 300-400 yard shot off here in NY I would like to open up my .308

    Nice shooting

  • nice shooting. how much is that thing droping at that yardage

  • 57MOA from 100yd zero

  • love this long range .308 stuff, great video, keep 'em coming.

btw, glad the weasels are ok!!

  • Man...... I wish I lived out west. I only get to shoot like that at my family's in Idaho. New York sucks!

  • What a perfect place to shoot!

    Great shooting!
