  • i loved this series!

  • Greg Walcott :29. Star of 'Plan 9 From Outer Space' and several Clint Eastwood movies.

  • Robert ("12'o'clock High") Lansing on the same show as Norman ("The Ropers") Fell?

    God, I love YouTube.

  • Does anybody know where i can find

87th Precinct, Dan August, Hawk & T.H.E. CAT vids ? They look so cool

  • i heard that norman fell and jack klugman never got along. in fact when fell died, klugman went to his funeral just to laugh.

  • This is believed to be Morton Stevens' first television theme.

  • would love to get this show on video!

  • In some episodes. did it really have the this picture made under the jurresdiction of IATSE Affilliated with A.F.L.-C.I.O.,ATFP,NAB Seal Of Good Practice Code Affilliate In Episodes In The middle of The 1961-62 season did they.i know

  • @GOOSEYGOOSE9 The later episodes of its only season, I know had the ATFP and NAB Seal of Good Practice Code Affiliate added and the Hubbell Robinson production company was dropped from this series, leaving Revue/MCA as the sole production company, so the HR logo was no longer being shown.

  • i watched this show with my parents. i

loved the music and the guys in the show.

  • Mel Jass for many years in the 1960s and 70s hosted a weekday afternooon movie program on WTCN-11 in Minneapolis-St.Paul, MN.

  • Ran for one season on NBC-TV from 1961-1962.

Produced by Robinson-Burrell Productions in association with Revue Studios Hollywood.

  • Very catchy theme. Definately has that Mort Stevens quality.

Never saw the show on this side of the Atlantic.

  • Pls. give us more than this here "Open and Close".

And give us some with a McBain scenario.(There are several....).

    J.P.

  • It's too bad that there was only one season of this show. I'm a big fan of McBain's 87th Precinct novels and it would have been great to see a long-running series based off of the characters of the series.

  • The movies made of Ed McBain's thrillers were OK, but not that good.

If You want to see EXCELLENT ,please read the books. The 87th's and the Hopes and most of the Evan Hunter's.

    Enjoy.

    J.P.

    Especially the last four dozens.

  • Hi, JP! It's bettyblue from Venice, Italy, here! Of course I quote you !! :-)

  • There was. It was called "Hill Street Blues."

    Steve Carella=Frank Furillo.

  • I heard that Norman Fell.

  • shortly after leaving "Three's Company", I believe

  • Wrong! It came 17 years before "Three's Company",

  • I thought maybe they were handing around a sandwich order there at the start.

  • I have all the 87th precinct novels, but I've never seen this serial on TV in Italy...The books are greit.I'm very proud about Ed Mc Bain had italian origins.

  • Theme's actually by Morton Stevens (as, er, the video itself points out). Pete Rugolo liked to do his themes so you could sing the title to it - you can do it with "The Fugitive," "Run For Your Life" and even "The Felony Squad" no trouble, but try it with it... you can't do it. (Not a knock against Morton Stevens AT ALL.)

  • Mort Stevens, Pete Rugolo, Dominic Frontiere, Kenyon Hopkins... they can compose some killer 60's theme music!

  • Hubbell Robinson was under contract to MCA/Universal to produce TV shows for them at the time {including "BORIS KARLOFF PRESENTS 'THRILLER'"}. Unfortunately, this NBC series was opposite CBS' "THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW" and "THE ANDY GRIFFITH SHOW" on Monday nights in 1961-'62, and vanished after one season. I don't believe current NBC/Universal management even KNOWS this series exists!

  • Extremely rare production company logo found here...it's for Hubbell Robinson Productions Inc., nicknamed "The HR Sunburst".
