  • Great voice, nobody like this around today. Glad to have lived through this period.

To be honest, what does Simon Cowell know; why should we respect his opinion. I don't.

  • Danny was "one of the good guys" I remember shedding a tear back stage when I heard of his passing.Great man, good friend.Sleep well fella!

  • When I was about 15, I'm 47 now an old lady up the road gave me this album, and you know what I loved it and I still have this album, thankyou so much for putting this up.

  • a great singer-i miss him-he was as good as johnny mathis and john gary

  • WHY DID YOU CUT THE SONG OFF SO EARLY? A BEAUTIFUL RECORD AND YOU RUINED IT!!!!!!!

  • Jeez will somebody P-AAAAAA-LEEEEEEZE upload his "a kind of loving" B-side 45 song!!!!

  • hey does anyone have "a kind of loving" from DW they can upload for us?

  • Beautiful song, lovely version. Thanks for posting!

  • @mitchking2006 Thank you for your kind comments

  • First heard Danny in 1961. Singers like this just don't appear on the scene anymore...regardless of what Simon Cowell would say With all the technology and studio gimmickry nobody would sound like this. Crystalline clear and polished. Music from a timeless, talent filled era.

  • I totally agree with your sentiments. Although i like Andy Williams version of 'Moon River' also but i've always regarded Danny's Version as the Definitive One.

  • in the early 1960s there was a singer who sang in a similar style to danny williams. his name was michael london. he did a lovely version of strangers on the shore. can anyone help me with this.

  • @davidwalsh66

Unfortunately, i've not heard of this singer before, hopefully there is someone on YouTube who can help. Wishing You A Very Happy and Peaceful New Year. Kind Regards

  • I love Danny's voice...especially this song!

Does anyone have any of the following : Tears, Rhapsody or Weaver of dreams?

    These are beautiful songs, too.

  • i knew Danny when i was a kid in Schauderville' Port Elizabeth in the late 50's early 60's. He had a great voice, but unlike hundreds of others young guys and girls in PE with great voices, Danny got the break.

  • This is one of the greatest voices the world has ever known. I used to have an LP with this song back in the 60s. I wish I could find the CD of Danny Williams Greatest Hits. Thanks for sending us back to an unforgettable past.

  • Danny's version of Moon River i regard as the definitive one. Try looking for Danny Williams The Essential Collection which is where this song and many other unforgettable songs including Moon River are on

  • His smooth velvety voice has been a favourite of mine since The Wild Wind. He sang Moon River like no other. Must look around for his The Essential Collection. Thank you for the posting

  • I remember playing this song and even singing to this record. This man had a golden voice - beautiful in so many ways. One of my favorites was the song 'Now". Thank you for posting this. Thank you so much

  • Amazing this is one of the first albums I got when I got my first 'vinyl player' - this song still haunts me it is beautiful RIP Danny!

  • So sorry to hear he's passed but he's in a better place now. He had such a beautiful voice!!!

  • The falling leaves drift by the window

The autumn leaves of red and gold....

I see your lips, the summer kisses

The sunburned hands, I used to hold

Since you went away, the days grow long

And soon I'll hear ol' winter's song.

But I miss you most of all my darling,

When autumn leaves start to fall.

  • Danny Williams is my mother's favourite singer I remmember her playing his songs when I was a little girl. I did not know he had died he will always be a great memory from my childhood.

  • Danny Williams was a great singer and i think that his version of 'Moon River' was the 'Definitive One' although i know that many will disagree.

  • I TOTALY AGREE

  • No one could ever sing Moon River better. A wonderful production that virtually changed my musical love when it first hit the charts.

  • I listened to it right after Autumn Leaves. It was good, but I thought Autumn Leaves was much better. Richer material to work with, more imagination, very romantic.

  • Wow, he's really good. I never heard of him but I'm going to check out his other music. Too bad the song was cut off at the end because I wouldn't have liked to hear the dramatic finali.

  • I'm pleased you liked Danny's singing,he was nickmaned 'Britain's Johnny Mathis' an accolade in itself as Johnny is a smooth and stylish singer himself. You should try and check out Danny's version of 'Moon River', i be interested to know what u think of it?

  • (What a klutz, I put this comment in the wrong place, sorry.) I listened to it right after Autumn Leaves. It was good, but I thought Autumn Leaves was much better. Richer material to work with, more imagination, very romantic.

  • he was my grandad, he had an aggressive form of lung cancer, literally a year before he died he was fit and healthy and singing gigs, he deteriated really quickly.

  • I can sincerely say that your Grandad was truly a wonderful singer. I have 'Danny Williams The essential Collection' amongst my cd collection and there are some great songs on it but most especially his version of 'Moon River'and i don't care what anybody says in my humble opinion Danny's version was the definate one.

  • yeah, its pretty cool to have someone so talented in the family, he was'nt much of a family guy tho. him and my gran had split ages b4 i was born and did'nt know him very well. i remember seeing him on totp2 when i was younger and he was surprisingly short if u ever met him lol

  • He was actually a South African... from Port Elizabeth

  • Thanks for this.I never realised Danny was not American!...I always naturally assumed that he was.Its a travesty that he did not reach a wider audience.

  • Thank u kindly,Danny's voice had such an effortless beauty to it,a charm all of it's own.

  • I have in my cd collection - Danny Williams The Essential Collection,i would recommend this cd to anyone who would like to hear more of this wonderful singer.

  • the efortless beauty that was danny

  • I totally agree, danny had such a beautiful and natural voice

  • I remember Danny williams when he imitated Johnny Mathis in the early sixies. Then Danny got his own voice. He became Danny instead of Johnny. What happened to Danny I do not know. But what a wonderful future he might have had. If anyone can tell me what happened to him, I'd like to know.

    sincere good luck.

  • SADLY DANNY DIED IN 2005 A GREAT LOSS

  • I had no idea Danny had died until just now.

    I'm deeply saddened

  • Sadly a great loss but we will always have the beauty of his voice in the legacy of his songs and who can forget his wonderful 'Moon River'. Danny will never be forgotten

  • What an angelic,velvety voice!A rare talent indeed.GREAT!

  • THANK U KINDLY SUCH A BEAUTIFUL VOICE

  • I didn't realize he had died so recently. That voice will fit right in up there in heaven!
