  • Could I just use a razor used for cutting boxes for trimming?

  • Could I just use a razor for trimming?

  • Where did you get that trimming tool?

  • hey there... that dry clay coming off the plate, can it be wet again and reused....?

  • I just made the same mistake but had no idea why. Thanks for the mistaken plate allowing the perfect lesson.

  • Thanks for the mistake. I just had the same thing happen but didn't know why. If you had done it perfectly the plate would have been spot on but the lesson would have been flawed. Thanks for the perfect lesson.

  • Simon

Thanks once again a good training. I have a ton of your videos to go through. I am practicing... Mark

  • can you maybe demonstrate the glazing of a plate? I would really like to see how you dip and decorate one.

  • OK next time I'm on plates we'll try to show how the glazing is down ...SL

  • What do you call that tool you use to trim the bottome of the plate? I want to get one. Thanks. Great videos!

  • Hool i - its a regular trimming tool . More common here in Europe than the US , but its easy enough to make one. SL

  • Man, I want you to be my teacher. My teacher doesn't help at all, he just shows you once how to throw whatever your throwing and once how to trim it and then he gives you no help at all.

  • find a new teacher

  • That is really cool! Great videos! they aren't boring at all :D

    You got skill mate!

  • I think this is amazing, I don't do it but it is absolutely amazing!

  • omg i like when his cutting it at 1:22 !!!

  • I chuckle and a tear rolls down my cheek,

To think of getting the oppurtunity to go to Spain and meet Simon and work you all, a very nice dream! Thnks pensandcall.

Simon I love your plates and demo, I've looked at many demo's before and since, you're the best! I went over to school and showed new student right away!

  • Thanks, pensandcalls

I think, I'm finally getting it. I just got into a habit of putting in Simon Leach, and not sleachpots, which shortened the list a bit! These comments help me converse with other potter's and view new approches. There

are very few more experienced artists potter's in my area. Thanks again! DebraRay

  • You're more than welcome, DebraRay. We are all here to learn. Maybe I'll see you in Spain!

  • Hi and thanks for another informative clip. It helps so much to see you working and hear your descriptions of the process.

  • I learned so much from this. In contemplative ways as well as technical. You're example of how to create a plate foot...nice,simple and easy to understand. How the view the whole process of "making on the wheel" with the mindset of viewing the form when things don't go as planned....priceless!

  • Thanks, Simon. I spoiled a plate this morning, actually!!! Like you said, the important thing is to practice and examine the form. I have also mounted a mirror across the wheel from me, as you suggested, and it really makes it easier to see the form.

  • Hi Simon,

I guess I now know why you seem to leave that little button,(spicket), as you call it on the bottom of your pots! I'm missing some of your videos, I'm not sure why they don't all show up on Utube when I put in, pottery and then your name. I need to go back and check your (sleachpots) to find your lastest

glazeing clip? They put it with alot of painting clips?

    Thanks DebraRay

  • Have you selected 'More from sleachpots' on the right, scrolled down and selected 'see all 128 videos'? It's kind of a contortion to do it like that but oh well. I wish there were an easy way to move the videos over to the hard drive on my laptop.

  • I dont care if the plate is wobbly. One of the things I most enjoy about these clips is the gentle, meditative revolution of the Leach Wheel. Electric wheels seem violent and industrial by comparison.
