Thanks for the mistake. I just had the same thing happen but didn't know why. If you had done it perfectly the plate would have been spot on but the lesson would have been flawed. Thanks for the perfect lesson.
Man, I want you to be my teacher. My teacher doesn't help at all, he just shows you once how to throw whatever your throwing and once how to trim it and then he gives you no help at all.
To think of getting the oppurtunity to go to Spain and meet Simon and work you all, a very nice dream! Thnks pensandcall.
Simon I love your plates and demo, I've looked at many demo's before and since, you're the best! I went over to school and showed new student right away!
I think, I'm finally getting it. I just got into a habit of putting in Simon Leach, and not sleachpots, which shortened the list a bit! These comments help me converse with other potter's and view new approches. There
are very few more experienced artists potter's in my area. Thanks again! DebraRay
I learned so much from this. In contemplative ways as well as technical. You're example of how to create a plate foot...nice,simple and easy to understand. How the view the whole process of "making on the wheel" with the mindset of viewing the form when things don't go as planned....priceless!
Thanks, Simon. I spoiled a plate this morning, actually!!! Like you said, the important thing is to practice and examine the form. I have also mounted a mirror across the wheel from me, as you suggested, and it really makes it easier to see the form.
I guess I now know why you seem to leave that little button,(spicket), as you call it on the bottom of your pots! I'm missing some of your videos, I'm not sure why they don't all show up on Utube when I put in, pottery and then your name. I need to go back and check your (sleachpots) to find your lastest
glazeing clip? They put it with alot of painting clips?
Have you selected 'More from sleachpots' on the right, scrolled down and selected 'see all 128 videos'? It's kind of a contortion to do it like that but oh well. I wish there were an easy way to move the videos over to the hard drive on my laptop.
I dont care if the plate is wobbly. One of the things I most enjoy about these clips is the gentle, meditative revolution of the Leach Wheel. Electric wheels seem violent and industrial by comparison.
Could I just use a razor used for cutting boxes for trimming?

Hi and thanks for another informative clip. It helps so much to see you working and hear your descriptions of the process.
