Right as you shield cancel, move the analog stick as if you were trying to tilt your shield down.

Or if you are doing a double hit ASC, just do a "gentle reverse hadouken". I find it easier (and more useful) when I do it that way.

If you are seeing ASC-spotdodge, you are pressing down too hard.
