In Jerusalem, the Foreign Press Association documents the shooting and intimidation of its members by Israeli soldiers. In one eight-month period, as many journalists, includ ing the CNN bureau chief in Jerusalem, were wounded by the Israelis, some of them seriously. In each case, the FPA complained. In each case, there was no satisfactory reply.
The selective use of language by broadcasters is crucial in maintaining this confusion and ignorance. Words such as "terrorism", "murder" and "savage, cold-blooded killing" describe the deaths of Israelis, almost never Palestinians.
As the pioneering work of the Glasgow University Media Group shows, television viewers are rarely told that the Palestinians are victims of an illegal military occupation; the term "occupied territories" is seldom explained.
Only 9 per cent of young people interviewed in the UK know that the Israelis are the occupying force and the illegal settlers are Jewish; many believe them to be Palestinian.
A new generation of Palestinian leaders [now speaks] to the world precisely as Martin Luther King did. The same world that rejects all use of Palestinian violence, even clear self-defence, surely ought not begrudge us the non-violence employed by men such as King and Gandhi."
“Through decades of occupation and dispossession," wrote Mustafa Barghouti, a wise voice of Palestinian politics, "90 per cent of the Palestinian struggle has been non-violent . . .
The Palestinian civil society call for boycott, disinvestment and sanctions (BDS) was issued on 9 July 2005, in effect reconvening the great, non-violent movement that swept the world and brought the scaffolding of African apartheid crashing down.
The Palestinians' resistance to the theft of their country reached a critical moment in 2001 when a UN conference on racism in Durban, South Africa, identified Israel as an apartheid state. To Nelson Mandela, justice for the Palestinians is "the greatest moral issue of the age".
I think it was the Dalai Lama that said in a speech to Tibet broadcast from India in 1980, "...is the only way of ensuring the rights of the world's indigenous poplulations against the theft of CONTINENTS by European Christianity would be to find some evidence that those lands had been actually been discovered, not in the name of Christianity or European colonialism, but by the Elders of Zion."
The US Campaign for an Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel was formed, with Desmond Tutu on its advisory board. In 2009, Britain's Trade Union Congress voted for a consumer boycott. The "Israel taboo" is no more.
The writer and activist Omar Barghouti called this "intellectual terror": a perversion of morality and logic that says to be against racism towards Palestinians makes one anti-Semitic. However, the Israeli assault on Gaza on 27 December 2008 changed almost everything.
In 2005, Britain's Association of University Teachers (AUT) voted to boycott Israeli academic institutions complicit in the oppression of Palestinians. The AUT was forced to retreat when the Israel lobby unleashed a blizzard of character assassination and charges of anti-Semitism.
To mark the anniversary of the Gaza atrocity, a humanitarian procession from 42 countries - Muslims, Jews, Christians, atheists, old and young, trade unionists, writers, artists, musicians and those leading convoys of food and medicine - converged on Egypt. And even though the US-bribed dictatorship in Cairo prevented most from proceeding to Gaza, the people in that open prison knew they were not alone, and children climbed on walls and raised the Palestinian flag. And this is just a beginning.
Just over 2 years ago, 1,400 defenceless people in Gaza were murdered by the Israelis. On 29 December, Mohamed Jassier became the 367th Gazan to die because even those needing life-saving medical treatment are not allowed free passage out. Keep that in mind when you next watch the BBC "balance" such suffering with the weasel protestations of the oppressors.
In Britain, the Geneva Conventions Act 1957 is fortified by the UN report on Gaza by Justice Richard Goldstone, which in December obliged a London magistrate to issue a warrant for the arrest of Tzipi Livni, the former Israeli foreign minister wanted for crimes against humanity. And in September, only contrived diplomatic immunity rescued Ehud Barak, Israel's defence minister during the assault on Gaza, from arrest by Scotland Yard.
Complementing this is the rapid development of international criminal law since the Pinochet case of 1998-99, when the former Chilean dictator was placed under house arrest in Britain. Israeli warmongers now face similar prosecution in countries that have "universal jurisdiction" laws.

@yaron3534 History teaches the Islamic world was far more tolerant towards Jews and Christians than the Christian world to Jews and Muslims. Historians agree Jews and Christians largely converted to Islam voluntarily, although financial considerations played a rol.
The irony is, todays Palestinians are much more likely to be physical descendents from biblical Jews than Ashkenazi and Sephardic Jews.
@yaron3534 Since your out of arguments you decided to quote me erroneously. I didn´t say "tolerant", I said "more tolerant than the Cristian world" wich is a well known fact. Besides that, what do the Mongols and the conquests in Europe have to do with Muslim tolerance? I wonder how tolerant the Jewish kingdom of Khazaria was towards other religions.
@yaron3534 I do not approve of the killing of Israeli civilians, and I know of no one of the solidarity movement for the Palestinians who does. Fact is the terror acts by the IOF against innocent civilians by far exceeds the violence by the resistance.

@yaron3534 Hamas are reviled for refusing to respect "international agreements" such as the Oslo Accords which granted the Palestinians nothing and in fact took away their previously undisputed (except by the Israeli government) right to the territory occupied by Israel in the 1967 war.
@yaron3534 You´re right. During the Israeli assault on Gaza which killed over 920 unarmed civilians (ratio 2/3) by indiscriminate firing and shelling, as well as the use of white phosphorus and flechette shells in civilian areas, and preventing the population from fleeing the war zone, Hamas did the abominable attrocity of temporarily hijacking 10 aid trucks.
Col. Richard Kemp, former commander of the British forces in Afghanistan's testimony before the UNHRC vote endorsing the Goldstone Report:
Mr. President,
Based on my knowledge and experience, I can say this: During Operation Cast Lead, the Israeli Defence Forces did more to safeguard the rights of civilians in a combat zone than any other army in the history of warfare.
@yaron3534 Col. Kemp, a well known lobbyist for Israel, was simply repeating the official Israeli response without ever having been in Gaza to verify the claims. Kemp's view is not even shared by the Israelis who actually participated in the assault.
Col. Richard Kemp report pt-2: Israel did so while facing an enemy that deliberately positioned its military capability behind the human shield of the civilian population.
Hamas, like Hizballah, are expert at driving the media agenda. Both will always have people ready to give interviews condemning Israeli forces for war crimes. They are adept at staging and distorting incidents.
@yaron3534 There was no independent evidence for the IDF human shield claims. Not in Gaza nor in the 2006 Libanon war. On the other hand there is massive evidence Israel disregarded civilian lives by indiscriminately shelling civilian targets. There are also plenty of documented (and even filmed) cases where Israeli soldiers forced Palestinian civilians (even children) to act as human shields.
The IDF faces a challenge that we British do not have to face to the same extent. It is the automatic, Pavlovian presumption by many in the international media, and international human rights groups, that the IDF are in the wrong, that they are abusing human rights.
Col. Richard Kemp report pt-4: The truth is that the IDF took extraordinary measures to give Gaza civilians notice of targeted areas, dropping over 2 million leaflets, and making over 100,000 phone calls. Many missions that could have taken out Hamas military capability were aborted to prevent civilian casualties.
@yaron3534 Proud of the IDF: *only* two unarmed civilians for every enemy combatant (which by the way include police officers and enemy traffic agents). And an *amazing* 109 Palstinians butchered for every Israeli. We are definitely the most moral army in the world!
“in all of its history, Islam has shown a warlike and conquering face”; that “for almost a thousand years, Europe lived under its constant threat”; and that what remains of the Christian population in Islamic countries is still subjected to “perpetual discrimination,” with episodes of bloody persecution."
In North Africa (Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco), before the Muslim invasion and despite incursions by vandals, there were blossoming Christian communities. But after the Arab conquest, Christianity was absorbed by Islam to such an extent that today it has a significant presence only in Egypt,
"The same can be said of the Middle East (Lebanon, Syria, Palestine, Jordan, Mesopotamia), in which there were flourishing Christian areas prior to the Islamic invasion, and where today there are only small Christian communities, with the exception of Lebanon, where Christians make up a significant part of the population."
Turkey - Where Christianity bore its best fruits in liturgy, theology & monastic life. Seljuk Turks Invasion & conquest of Constantinople by Mehmet II (1453) lead to the Ottoman empire & near destruction of Christianity in Anatolia. Only 100,000 Christians remained.
"In conclusion, we may state in historical terms that in all the places where Islam imposed itself by military force, which has few historical parallels for its rapidity and breadth, Christianity, which had been extraordinarily vigorous and rooted for centuries, practically disappeared or was reduced to tiny islands in an endless Islamic sea. It is not easy to explain how that could have happened"
According to Islamic law, the world is divided into three parts: dar al-harb (the house of war), dar al-islam (the house of Islam), and dar al-‘ahd (the house of accord); that is, the countries with which a treaty was stipulated. [...]
"As for countries considered “house of war,” Islamic canon law rejects relations with them other than “holy war” (jihad), An “effort” in the way of Allah:
-Jihad is the “effort” Muslims must take to be faithful to the Koran & improve “submission” (islam) to Allah.
-An “effort” Muslims must take to “fight in the way of Allah,” (against infidels & spreading Islam throughout the world. )
-Jihad- Highest duty. Among the pillars of Islam (sixth “pillar).”
"Obedience to “holy war” explains why the history of Islam is one of unending warfare for the conquest of infidel lands. In particular, all of Islamic history is dominated by the idea of the conquest of the Christian lands of Western Europe & the Eastern Roman Empire, (Constantinople).Islam & Christianity faced each other in terrible battles, which led to the conquest of Constantinople, Bulgaria & Greece, Portugal, Spain, parts of Italy & france."
But the conquering spirit of Islam did not die. The Islamic advance into Europe was definitively halted only in 1683, when Vienna was liberated from the Ottoman siege by the Christian armies under the command of John III Sobieski, the king of Poland. In reality, for almost a thousand years Europe was under constant threat from Islam, which twice put its survival in serious danger.
In all of its history, Islam has shown a warlike face & a conquering spirit for the glory of Allah. against the “idolaters” who must be given a choice:
1)Convert to Islam
2)Or be killed
3) As for the “people of the Book” (Christians, Jews, & “Sabeans”), Muslims must “fight them until their members pay tribute ("Jizya"), one by one, humiliated” (Koran, Sura 9:29).

@yaron3534 Did you read the Arabic Quran or just the translation? And when reading the Quran don't just take it literally, anyone who takes the Quran in literally will end up not understanding it fully. You need to know the Tafsir of the Quran which is the extracted meanings of each verse. Did you read that? I guess not, if you did then you would not say what you are saying now.
Also study something called Hadith which is also important in Islam.

@yaron3534 Islamic education has to be learnt properly, you need to have a teacher who has their lineage of knowledge that goes all the way back to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). If your teachers don't have that then I would not recommend them as a reliable teacher.
They have to be a practicing Muslim.
This is some of the qualities of an Islamic scholar.

@yaron3534 Since you live in Israel why is it that the Israeli army are killing innocent little children? Palestinian children. Don't they have no humanity in them?
Palestinians are using Gaza tunnels to get medicine in and food supplies to those in need because the evil Iraeli government has blocked them coming in.
The sick thing is you support these thugs and criminals, terrorists and you are a terrorist yourself.
One example of various interpretations to Qur'anic verses
3377. Qur’an, iv. 95
The word ghair in this verse has three variants, namely, ghaira, ghairu and ghairi. This can be read with three vowels. Ibn Kathir, Abu ‘Amr, Hamzah, and ‘Asim read it ghairu, with short vowel u. Nafi’, Ibn ‘Amr and al-Kisa’i read it ghaira with short vowel a. A rare reading goes ghairi with a short vowel i (‘Awn al-Ma’bud, IV, 57). (p. 1115)
@yaron3534 If you look at the world map Israel was never on it before 1948. Only after Israel was on the map mainly because Israel massacared the Palestinians and took over their land.

@yaron3534 I have more information than this 90 year old professor Bernad Lewis because the scholars that I learn from has carried their information since Islam started, some of these scholars are decendents of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and some of them have a lineage of teachers that goes all the way back to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Does Pr. B Lewis have this lineage or does he study by just reading books? If he does then he is misguided himself.

-Although he has no known direct relatives to the prophet Muhammad, his wife claims to have blood links to Muhammad's former housekeeper
@yaron3534 When I talked about lineage I don't mean that they all have blood related links, what I meant was the scholars knowledge or information or the subject they teach has been certified by their teachers and their teachers teachers and so on... which goes all the way back to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
This is what you call the Isnad or Chain or narrations, and the Ijaza is the certificate to teach it. Does Dr. Walid Phares have an Isnad and an Ijaza? If not then he cannot be trusted.
@yaron3534 Listen you seem like a person that studies a lot. If you want to learn Islam properly I have told you how to go about it, this is exactly what I have been taught by my teachers who are all qualified to teach.

-Do you interpret?
-Can you prove scientifically that my interpretation of a Qur'an verse is incorrect?
-Can you prove in a court of law that your undertanding of the Qur'an is more "accurate" than mine?
@yaron3534 Yes I can prove that my understanding of the Quran is much more correct than yours.
Mainly because the knowledge that I have gained are from teachers who have studied with their teachers which their lineage goes all the way back to Muhammad (PBUH).
Of course we all know that without Muhammad (PBUH) nobody would ever understand the Quran, Allah (God) chose him to be the last and final messenger and to teach Islam to people.
You don't have any lineage, that's why u make mistakes.
@aminul1984 my understanding of the Quran- more correct than yours.
knowledge gained from teachers who studied with their teachers of lineage to Muhammad
Without Muhammad nobody would understand the Quran, Allah chose him as the final messenger
You don't have lineage, so u make mistakes(Amin)
-Shia, Sunni, Druze, Wahabi, Salafi (to name a few) kill each other due to opposing interpretations of the very same Qur'an "from teachers who studied with their teachers of lineage to Muhammad" ... too

-Countless Muslim clerics interpret "Jihad" as a call for war against the unbelievers.
-Others interpret "Jihad" as a call for personal introspection
-All claim divine understanding & personal linkage to Muhammad & a robust lineage
@yaron3534 Well Jihad can be interpreted for either war or struggle.
If someone is fighting for his life and his family that is Jihad.
If someone is trying to avoid sins and it is very difficult for him to avoid it then that is Jihad because he is struggling.
Jihad is not those people u hear on the news that blow up buildings and kill innocent people, in fact that goes against Islam because in Islam if they commit suicide and kill innocent people they go to hell.
"I can prove that my understanding of the Quran is much more correct than yours.
Mainly because the knowledge that I have gained are from teachers who have studied with their teachers which their lineage goes all the way back to Muhammad'(amin)

@yaron3534 There are Grand Mufti's everywhere not just in Makkah.
Islam might have originated from Makkah but it is not a religion only for that region, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that Islam is for everyone, and this is why his companions travelled to different countries to spread the knowledge and give them the message of Islam.
And how do you know what the Grand Mufti of Makkah said? have you met him personally?
@yaron3534 Personally I don't follow the interpretations of Wahabi's or Salafi's, I am a Sunni Muslim and I follow Islam according to Imam Abu Hanifah, if u know who that is of course.
I have nothing against Wahabi's or Salafi's but to be honest their understanding of Islam is very poor mainly because of the scholars that they followed. Most of them were self taught and made tons of mistakes. They had no teacher and they don't have a solid chain of narration that goes back to Muhammad (PBUH).

GAZA, Feb 4 (Reuters) - A U.N. aid agency accused Hamas policemen on Wednesday of seizing hundreds of food parcels and thousands of blankets it had planned to distribute to 500 families in a Palestinian refugee camp in the Gaza Strip.
Hamas Welfare Minister Ahmed al-Kurd denied the accusation, in a burgeoning dispute that could affect the delivery of essential aid in the Hamas-ruled territory "Over 3,500 blankets and 406 food parcels were confiscated from a distribution store at Beach Camp in Gaza by police personnel," the United Nations Relief and Works Agency said in its first such statement since a ceasefire went into effect
"This took place after UNRWA personnel had earlier refused to hand over the aid supplies to the Hamas-run Ministry of Social Affairs. The police subsequently broke into the warehouse and seized the aid by force," the statement said.
The aid was to have been handed out to 500 families in the area, UNRWA said, demanding it be returned immediately. Kurd, accusing UNRWA of being reluctant to cooperate with his ministry, told Reuters: "Not a single policeman nor any employee of the Welfare Ministry entered any facility or centre belonging to UNRWA."
The overseeing of aid and reconstruction in the Gaza Strip is a source of friction between Hamas and the rival Fatah movement, which lost control of the territory to the Islamist group in internal fighting in 2007.
Donor countries have yet to respond to revelations by former Palestinian intelligence official Fahmi Shabaneh that top Palestinian Authority officials are continuing to pocket millions of dollars earmarked for financial aid to the Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Shabaneh expressed frustration over the way the international media has been handling his exposures: “Don’t the Americans, Europeans and Arabs care about their money that is being stolen? If they continue to turn a blind eye to the corruption of the Palestinian Authority, Hamas will eventually take over the West Bank the same way they took the Gaza Strip.”
Nearly a month after Shabaneh, who headed the anti-corruption unit in the General Intelligence Service, revealed in an exclusive interview with The Jerusalem Post that some of Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas’s close aides and loyalists had siphoned off hundreds of millions of dollars to private bank accounts, decision-makers in the US and EU continue to bury their heads in the sand.
The foreign media has continued to cover the story as if it were only a “sex scandal” in Abbas’s bureau - a reference to a videotape revealed by Shabaneh showing Rafik Husseini, director of the president’s bureau, naked in a woman’s bedroom.
Following are examples of some of how, according to Shabaneh, international aid to the Palestinians is being “hijacked” by “thieves and thugs in the inner circle of Mahmoud Abbas.”
Thousands of civil servants whose names appear on the payroll of the Palestinian Authority do not exist or never reported for work.
The Palestinian Authority has more than 150,000 registered civil servants whose salaries are paid by US, EU & Arab governments.
Shabaneh’s investigations showed senior officials in the president’s office & the Palestinian Ministry of Finance “diverting” millions of dollars of these payments to their private bank accounts every month.
Just before the January 2006 parliamentary election, the US gave $3.2 million to help Fatah boost its image among Palestinians. The goal was to prevent Hamas from winning the vote back then. [Hamas did win in the end]. Shabaneh says that his investigations showed that the money was given to an advertisement company owned by Abbas’s family and that most of the money had “vanished.”
A former minister in the Palestinian Authority convinced Mahmoud Abbas and his predecessor, Yasser Arafat, to give him about $5 million of international aid so that he could purchase lands in Jerusalem before Jews lay their hands on them. Shabaneh’s investigations showed that the minister deposited most of the money in his private bank account and had built a huge and luxurious villa on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
Shabaneh’s inquires also found that Azzam al-Ahmed, a senior Abbas advisor and Fatah official, took about $1.5 million from Arafat and Abbas under the pretext that he, too, wanted to purchase land that would otherwise end up in the hands of Jews. Ahmed’s brother, who served as the PLO’s lawyer in Jordan, is also suspected, according to Shabaneh’s files, of defrauding the Palestinian Authority into paying him millions of dollars for fictitious land deals.
@aminul1984 Shabaneh discovered that a former Finance Minister in the Palestinian Authority had deposited $8 million in his private bank account. When Shabaneh demanded explanations, he was told to mind his own business. •
Hundreds of cases Shabaneh dealt with when he was in his job. He is now “wanted” by the Palestinian Authority on charges of “collaboration with the Israeli enemy.” . He maintains that he has many of the documents and files to back up his charges that the Palestinian Authority and many of its leaders and representatives are continuing to steal financial aid.
“This is not just a sex scandal,” Shabeneh stressed.
-Since Abbas appointed him as chief corruption-buster in the West Bank, he collected incriminating evidence against dozens of senior officials, in addition to the president’s 2 sons.
-Abbas, meanwhile, cut off Shabaneh's salary to punish him for speaking out against corruption as the international community & media, through their silence, continue empowering Hamas.
@yaron3534 If he studies by just reading books then that means he's giving his own interpretation of Islamic history which is very very dangerous because he can make a lot of mistakes without a teacher.
Islam came with a book Quran and a teacher Muhammad (PBUH). If the revelations came on its own then the people would not be able to follow it because they will need someone to teach it to them.
EVERYBODY NEEDS A TEACHER, I study Wing Chun kung fu and my teacher has got a reliable lineage.
@yaron3534 Does Pr. B Lewis have Ijaza? Do you know what Ijaza's are? I guess not. I will make it clear to you what it is.
An Ijaza is a certificate given to a person by a teacher / scholar, it certifies that this person has studied and understood the subject and can now teach this subject to others.
I have an Ijaza in Islamic belief (Aqida) given to me by my scholar who has studied with scholars and I think one of them who is over 125 years old now.
@yaron3534 To be honest I am not boasting about my certificate but I am just letting you know that Islamic education has a system and if someone needs to understand Islam properly they have to go through this system. Not by just reading books.
You read this mans books, let me ask you something. Do you know any Arabic yourself?
If I wanted to learn about Christianity do you think I would go to a Muslim scholar? Does that sound logical? Of course not, I would have to go to a Christian Scholar.
@yaron3534 You talk about careful analysis, the scholars that I learn from some of them spend up to 12-20 years or even more on analysing Islamic sacred texts just to extract the true meaning.
Did any of your teachers that you never met do this type of analysis? Oh and by the way, my scholars have something that your teacher doesn't which is a chain of narrations. Search it on Google to find out what it means.

Crimes against humanity
Complementing this is the rapid development of international criminal law since the Pinochet case of 1998-99, when the former Chilean dictator was placed under house arrest in Britain. Israeli warmongers now face similar prosecution in countries that have "universal jurisdiction" laws.

@aminul1984
A former minister in the Palestinian Authority convinced Mahmoud Abbas and his predecessor, Yasser Arafat, to give him about $5 million of international aid so that he could purchase lands in Jerusalem before Jews lay their hands on them. Shabaneh’s investigations showed that the minister deposited most of the money in his private bank account and had built a huge and luxurious villa on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
yaron3534 1 year ago
@aminul1984
