The truth is there's not enough for everyone in this world, but it's obvious because not everybody earns their rights, most people will demand without giving anything in exchange, just a few trully deserve a share of the world. When mankind embraces that we will all be better, and trash will be discarded, recicled, only after paying back what it took without deserving it.

Although this video does a good job indicating the theoretically exponential effect of altruism, it fails to explain why someone should engage in altruistic activity in the first place, except that perhaps "what goes around comes around" such that the first altruistic deeds eventually result in some other person helping out the initial person at some future time (reciprocal altruism). Although ultimately, altruism for that reason is self interested... nothing is as noble as it first appears.

@Hypophora Basically, I am saying that for people to truly do good, they have to understand why they are doing good. Unless people have a meaningful reason behind their altruistic acts, their actions are merely the result of emotion, which in my opinion is less noble and more evolutionary. In any case, I think what we should talk about is the reasoning behind our good acts, and if we can find a reason that is satisfying to us logically and emotionally. Anyways, well made slide show. I wonder if paying it forward will actually work, I mean, there's so much hate in the world today and look where it's gotten us. Useless war's, people killing each other over stupid little everyday mishap,s and roadrage, i could go on forever. people dont realize how easy it is to be peaceful and nice and to just forgive people.

well, if you watch the movie "pay it forward" of witch this idea is adopted you'll notice the boy who "invents" this idea and starts the "pay it forward-movement" dies in the end.

he couldn't change the world so his idea couldn't... but he helped (maybe even saved) a considerable amount of other people.

it didn't change the whole world, but made it a better place for some people... so it's worth a try, i think.
