It's a shame what Little Al went through later on, and I hope things have straightened out for him. He should be known as a great driver and Indy winner, not for his scrapes with the law.
Well, as far as I know, his downfall began after the "split" in 1996. Indy 500 was his life and being unable to compete in it took its toll. He began drinking, his results dropped and he was dropped by Penske after 1999. He joined the IRL and won a couple of races and competed in a few Indy 500-s, but he wasn't the same anymore. His last 500 was 2007, I think. He's cleaned up now and is the driving coach for IndyCar, I believe.
