You actually have the Green TIger Barbs. They are the more expensive type and are in my opinion the prettiest. Tiger barbs do though get pale when they are sick, scared or not feeling well. so i would diagnosethem to make sure they arent diseased.
well when i first started off i had 5-6 and a rainbow shark. They dont grow any larger than 1.5-2.5 inches so the ratio of 1 inch of fish per gallon of water is never exceeded.
Is it bad that i have 2 females and 5 males? I mean will it effect the mating process/the school?

try getting platium tiger barbs. Rare in stores but it's even more beautiful than the green.

Breeding them requires a male and female.
Once you know what kind of sex you then you seperate them into a seperate tank, not too small imo.
Feeding etc can help. But they will usually pair off.
