  • I am so incredibly jealous of you fellows. I would love so much to go Dartmoor camping like that.

  • Excellent video and beautiful scenery! Looks like you lads had a great time. Well done on the 8 items too, I, Like many others would struggle to keep it down to that number. My pockets alone would contain more. Thanks for sharing it with us. Ps. Next time I'm coming!

  • Do you still carry a Altoids survival tin just in case of emergences ?

  • what is the song that starts at 9:45? If you could tell me it would be much appreciated.

  • Hi - I'm sorry if i upset you by one of my recent posts because it wasnt meant for you or your friends to take offence. I have a tendency to say what is on my mind but it is never meant in a malicious or hurtful way. I was happy and jokey when i wrote the comment but unfortunately the written word can often be taken in a different way. So i apologise from the bottom of my heart.

    Peace :)

  • Looks great.

  • Absolutely amazing video guys, really enjoyed watching it. I think it was brave to go without a torch, that would definitely be in my pack. I can't imagine doing an 8 item challenge, I usually have about 800, even just for a day hike! Good on you chaps.

Oh, what is Matt's name on the NB forums? I'd like to ask him about his gaiters. :)

  • @Smith28Adventure Matt's name is infact "Matt"! :) He doesn't post a whole lot but I do know he reads quite a lot of posts, his avatar is his face so hopefully you'll recognise him when you see him on there.

  • @NaturalBushcraft Thanks Ashley :)

  • @NaturalBushcraft thanks a lot keep up the good work and happy new year. Greetings from Canada.

  • What is the name of the song from 4:43 to 5:30 and who made it? By the way awesome video. I have been wanting to try something like this for a while and this has really motivated me to do it.

  • @MajorNuclearNate It's called "Deliberate Thought" by Kevin MacLeod and it is royalty free which means it's free for you to download and use legally :) He's got a great website sharing lots of music freely - what we like. Glad you enjoyed the video, all the best,

    - Ashley Cawley.

  • Jet boils are for girls. Very true. I don't think I would take any gas stove for this type a camping, there's to much to go wrong. Trangia's all the way for me.

  • @nathanshepherd1 And something did go wrong with Phil's Jetboil stove! The built-in ignition failed.

  • great vid guys thankx

  • Great video guys, enjoyed that, you can't beat being out there! :-)

  • Great vid, but where was Justin Telford?

  • @survivorman250 Justin Telford is no longer a part of NaturalBushcraft bud.

  • @NaturalBushcraft He tried to take NaturalBushcraft down a dark path I didn't like, so I got rid of him.

  • I'm shocked!

I woulda had me hook in that water quicker then you could say "Feesh"

Bravo! Well done! Love the scenery! You do have a beautiful country

  • Excellent video, Ash & company! I've been anticipating another Dartmoor vid! I hope this tradition continues. Glad to see the camera survived this year to capture more! :) So, did you guys weigh the packs this year? Who had the lightest pack?

  • @antpop1 hehe! Yeah the camera is still alive :) The battery broke on me last year :( But got a new one now ;D No we didn't weigh in this year! There wasn't so much of a focus on weight like there was last year from Matt & Martin. A couple of us commented that somehow we thought we might have had heavier packs than last year! Cheers,

    Ashley Cawley.

  • Great and good time, thanks for sharing. Best wishes, Sepp

  • who's playing the music about 9:45 into the video? you always seem to put great music in your videos! anyways keep the great videos coming!

  • @crucialdudechris I'm glad you like it :) It's Tom Dale a Cornish Busker, he's on MySpace and does superb albums. I can recommend the album called "West Country Blues" which has the track you mentioned and other great ones. If you get his music let him know you discovered him through Natural-Bushcraft and that I put you on to him ;D Cheers,

    Ashley Cawley.

  • Wow so beautiful were your at!!

  • Hi, for me lads, I really enjoyed that. Thanks for showing the countryside off and cool tunes too.

  • Brilliant

I'm curious are there lands that are reserved as public nature parks or are all lands privately owned ...in other words I'm thinking of 'old growth forests' and/or 'crown lands' as we call them here in Canada(I'm remembering that in one of your videos you mentioned having to get permission to camp from the owner of the land)

thanks for sharing these moments of your outdoor challenge

I'm curious too (as another commenter noted) about the lists of 8 items chosen by each

    thanks again

  • Looks like a great time out.

  • can u tell me how to remove the grass to put the fire in and put it back when your done

  • @fizzyfits Well you dig it up carefully (use a trowel or spade if you've got one), we used a digging stick on this trip. Take out a big square and replace it when your done. Before you replace the grass make sure you clear the fire-pit of coals and charcoal, mix up the remaining ash and earth with water, make sure it's cool and the earth is roughed up then put back the grass. It will grow :) Grass is hardy stuff really.

    Ash.

  • really nice, thanks

    fredde

  • Beautiful & Magnificent Footage... Thank You!

  • That was fantastic. Looked like a lot of fun.

  • @cdltpx homo means "the same" as in homosexual means to have sex with a person of THE SAME sex. not to have sex with a human.

  • @TheLewisotto Are you sure or are you using inference and hoping that homo means same or mono?

  • @TheLewisotto lol yh

  • YES! A new Dartmoor challenge :D The first 10 item one is one of my favourite videos on YouTube! Beautiful Deer sighting, I love it when you look up and just in the corner of your eye spot something moving. You turn around and there's 4-5 Deer :)

Really, really enjoyed that Ashley! One of my new favourites :D

  • @CiaranRooney125 Thanks for the comment bud, really appreciate it. Glad you like the video :)

  • Nice video guy,s. I'm curious, what were the eight items? you did seem to be carrying an awfull lot with you.

  • @MrSpooner123 Food/Drink & Clothes were considered free items, so some in the group decided to take clothing to compensate for a lack of bedding. Bedding, Clothing, Food & Drink just in themselves can take up quite a lot of room. Checkout the Natural-Bushcraft Blog to find out exactly what items we were carrying. Infact I will do an update on teh blog hopefully in the next day to include all our kits. Cheers,

    Ashley Cawley.

  • Fantastic video guys! I am astonished that you edited and produced a video with such incredible production values in just an couple of days! Really good work to the film maker. And I truely enjoyed the camping trip as well. Lots of nature, and animals. And I'm a hammock camper myself (Warbonnet Blackbird). Thanks again my friends = ) ~Wolf

  • @FatDaddy4Fun Thanks ~Wolf I'm glad you liked & mentioned my video editing as normally it's just something that gets over-looked :) I edit all the videos myself and it did take my quite a few hours! But it's worth it for the memories it brings back. All the best,

    - Ashley Cawley.

  • camera doesnt count as an item only items that assist you, camera's were taken to document the trip only.

  • Does the camera count as one?! ;)

  • @pcu0000 No, it was agreed upon that cameras would be considered free-items as they were there purely for documenting the trip - A camera could be used in a survival situation but obviously weren't to use these items to aid our stay or survival.

  • love dartmoor and a great vid my friend

  • WOW LOVE THIS MAN THANKS <3 (No Homo)

  • @ByLasers The Four Loves in the greek language are Storge = Affection, Phileo = Friendship, Eros = Romance, Agape = Unconditional Love if you wish to cure your ignorance of this subject you can google it and read what wikepedia says. It would look much better if you would say in the greek the form of love what you are referring to rather than that ignorant (No Homo) statement. It really is unpleasant to see that in a comment when it really is not called for. Just saying you know (no asshole).

  • @cdltpx To be honest I can speak how I want over the internet and random people like you can't tell me what to do because I'm 16 and sorry if you have some sort of religion going on in your life but I don't and I believe in GOD in my own way!, Also I don't get what you mean "No Asshole"?.

  • @ByLasers First you didn't orginate the term so don't be so offended. Homosexual is a compound word homo is the prefix of the word IMHO they got it wrong they are monosexual. Rather than take what sounds cool and run with it try looking things up it takes a second. Sure now it is just a statement that can be seen as innocent but it's offensive you know it is because I have told you it is offensive. There is a cool book you should read. The No Asshole Rule. This can spare you some pain.

  • @cdltpx WOW! you don't have to write so much you know and please just be quiet because all i came on this video is to watch it and not to be geeked out over the internet!(geeked is my own random word for learning hearing or watching something which will turn you into a geek!)

  • @cdltpx See Religious love would be agape this is not that. No asshole is my way of saying I am not trying to be an asshole just telling your generation to get it right. Homo is a prefix of a word meaning humans no homo means no human. You would sound half literate if you said no eros or phileo. Sure you may be 16 I was there too and when someone spoke to me trying to educate me I listened sadly back then you didn't have accurate knowlege readily avaliable you had to trust the person was true.

  • @cdltpx Speak as you wish on the internet and you will sound as they call it ignorant. Nothing wrong with ignorance it can be cured you can go to college for years learning or you can use the tech we have so abundantly at our disposal to quickly almost instantly see if what you are hearing or reading is in fact true. I didn't have that so I had to look like a bafoon when I was told something that was total rubbish. I have heard so much crap in my day that I still find lies told to me then.

  • @cdltpx AHA What a dumb ass you responded to your own comment!(Just saying!)

  • @ByLasers Well I tried guess you will stay thirsty.

  • @cdltpx I won't stay thirsty because I have my cup of tea next to me!

  • Brilliant mate just wish i could have been there this time
