  • Back in the good 'ol days....

  • classic..lol!

  • This has to be one of the funniest TV episodes. I have all four seasons and laugh every time I watch it. To me the funniest thing about this skit....the look on Mary's face!!!

  • I never watched Soap

  • Just came of a cruise on the Royal Caribbean and Jay Johnson was one of the comedy acts. He still used Bob, but added a talking dry erase board old man and a monkey. Laughed my ass off. What a show

  • @waltervest What a treat for you. Jay won a Tony Award last year for his one man show, My One and Only, and he doesn't do very many cruises. He's probably one of the most well known and respect Vents in the profession.

  • Chuck and Bob should be in Nickelodean's Victorious, and Bob could go head on with the equally smart-mouth dummy on that show.

  • You know, thia episode, despite this scene, was actually overall, a very sad episode.

  • classic. one of the finest American tv shows ever. not that that's really saying much, but still. an amazing show.

  • I...LOVE this show!!!!

  • Here is something interesting to note. When Bert holds up the apple, Chuck isn't looking at it, and Bob still guesses what it is.

  • @MichaelBrookham What's even more interesting is you apparently have never heard of a thing called "peripheral vision".

  • i love how mary is staring at all of them.

  • I don't know if this would be very funny to someone who didn't watch the series on TV, but knowing the characters it still cracks me up. I loved when this show came on - so original and a ventriloquist character was a great idea. Chuck and Bob were my favorites. Actually Bob was...his smart-ass rude remarks were the best.

  • My kid brother and me would quit the Pub early on a friday night, just to get home in time, to watch the 10.30 slot of this show, funniest programme on the planet at that time, -every character was hilarious in their own way, never be anything like it again, shame!

  • fav characters:benson chuck and bob and burt lol

  • Chuck and Bob were my favorite characters on this terrific show. And Jay Johnson (Chuck) is an absolute genius as a ventriloquist.

  • This was one of the funniest shows ever, every character was funny it they're own way, both families were funny, and the chuck and bob act was too funny.

  • One of the best. PBS receives all accolades for once again allowing creativity beyond normal network blandness. (Not including MASH, Taxi, etc.)

  • when did they enter the show?

  • they also sell the series at walmart & on amazon

  • Actually Soap and The Golden Girls were both written by the amazing Susan Harris that's why they're both hilarious!!

  • i love this show... its on netflix's instant queue for anyone who has it

  • @acesofshadows I'm on season 2 now. My parents used to tell me about this show and then I had the odd urge to see if it was on netflix instant queue and it was! I'm 22 and LOVE this show...amazing!!

  • Yes, Mary's face is priceless at 0:50 and at 1:28. I thought that the characters on Soap were so funny, but I just loved watching Chuck and Bob, and I wish they'd have been given more air time. When I watch this, it's like watching it for the first time all over again, and I'm back in the 70's again. Just brilliantly funny!

  • you ppl are WAAAAAAAAAY to easely entertained.

  • @IDMWEIGHTSIDM To easely entertained? This stuff is comedy gold!

  • The look on Mary's face is priceless...

  • 1:28 I love the look on Mary's face, when Burt shows the apple.

  • I LOVED how everyone forgot that 'Bob' wasn't real LOL They treated him like he was a real person LOL.

  • @rtds9fan Only the butlers Benson and Saunders didn't believe he was.

  • Punchkick311 you dumb ass have you ever heard of ventrillaquizm!!!!!

  • "Is there a trick involved?"

LOLOL That show was soooo funny!

  • A book about Soap is being planned for release at the end of the year.

  • Loved this show !!

  • This was sooo great!! Funny!! Classic!

  • You can see Chuck is whispering what the item is to Bob, and then Bob just pretends he is mindreading. Fake.

  • @PunchKick311 wtf? HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF VENTRILAQUIZM?!?! Dumbass.

  • Without question, one of the best and funniest sitcoms of all time. IMHO only "Married With Children" and "Two And A Half Men" rivals this show.

  • funny stuff, but how does he do it

  • Hysterical!!!!

  • Chuck can SEE !!!!

Yeah !!!! ((waving his hand in front of him)) BUT BOB CAN'T !!!!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Finally broke down and bought every single episode. WORTH IT

  • Chuck reminds me of Robbie on "Victorious"

  • @dubs19842009 I said the same thing.

  • Can't find it on youtube, but another great bit is the bar scene where Bob gets drunk.

  • This show was so far ahead of it's time.

Pure, laugh until it hurts, funny.

  • Boy, this was just hilarious!

"Don't you get it? - No! How did you do it?" ROFL

Well, Danny surely can be quite dumb sometimes. ^^

Thnx for the upload, I enjoyed every minute of it.

  • hahha lol

  • Marys face at 1:28 is an absolute picture!

  • So funny when Bob hits the wall first before entering the stairs, as if he is really blindfolded

  • Mary is saying I gave birth to a dumbass n married one as well. but that is funny

  • @2199 That is so funny. Her face says it all. She can't believe how iddiottic the men are. LOL And she looks so stunned looking at Burt hold the apple then it becomes annoyance.

  • I remember watching this XD

This is one of my favourite scenes !! XD they're really insane ~_^

  • I only heard stories of this show and now I see that it really is as funny as people say it was.

  • If you ever need to smile, just watch this classic clip, and you'll have a smile on your face in no time at all!

  • The whole series is out on DVD. In fact, you can probably rent it on netflix.

  • The only time I was glad to be out of work was when a station was re-running the whole series of Soap - taped 'em all. Sadly, VHS - all deteriorated, except the last few.

Also, got to watch the whole OJ trial during the same period. It wasn't as funny.

  • THE BEST EVER

  • I LOVE THIS SHOW!! I just finished the whole thing on Netflix! This is soo funny! My favorite is Danny angry reaction at 1:12 "He's gotta be peeking in there!" lmao!! and Mary's face throughout the whole thing is PRICELESS!! LMAO!!

  • Classic!!!

  • what season was this on? its so funny!!!

  • This was from Season 2 Episode 13.

  • There is only one thing Mary should say now "He's a dummy."

  • I think Bob was peaking, like Danny said

  • look at Mary's face at 1:30

  • WE need this whole show on DVD

  • Thank you for this! This is one of the funniest things ever on TV.

  • Absolutely funny !! I loved this show

  • My fav Chuck and Bob bit was when all the guys got drunk at the bar and Bob 'passes' out and they leave him there with the tab LOL

  • What episode and season is this?

  • Favorited!

  • Mary is saying I gave birth to a dumbass n married one as well. but that is funny.

  • 1:54 - 1:56 LOL Danny "but Bob can't" ROTFLMAO!

  • I've always loved that through out the series Danny kept getting dumber and dumber.

  • wow, i figured I was the only one who remembers this show, I mention it to friends and they are puzzled. I would love to own all episodes. Bert going invisible is great!!

  • Remember Bert getting abducted and the alien took his place for a while? And the old Jewish man, Saul, he meets on the ship?

  • @BJBlitzstein Hi Burt, Hi Burt

  • NICE crotch shot Danny 1:10-1:17!!!

  • "it's amazing".........hahahahhahaha

  • Bob was definitely the funniest character on that show. Anybody ever see that Stephen Canell show broken badges where chuck and bob were undercover cops?

  • i wish they would put soap reruns on the air

  • Who played Bob? I didn't catch his name in the credits.

  • Jay Johnson. He has a show running only for two weeks in Burbank now. He was on Broadyway previously.

I saw him last night, it was a blast!

  • ya i saw him in burbank last night too!!! hes hilarious

  • Gotta love the chili bowl haircut he's sporting... MAJOR '70s! LOL... XD

  • I loved this show!! Bob was outrageous!! What ever

happened to comedy on tv? Nowadays tv has to be

vulgar to entertain!! Foul language and etc.

  • and wasn't this scene immediately followed by Elaine's return by her kidnappers? One of the most heartbreaking scenes in this show's history. Loved this show. You'd be laughing out loud one minute and balling the next.

  • yep, Elaine escaped from the kidnappers and was shot while getting away. Then she died in Danny's arms just after getting to the house.

  • @dnoble317 I was really upset when they killed off Elaine from the show. Danny and Elaine had just started appreciating and loving each other. Then again, the name of the show was "Soap", and it was to symbolize all the irony of a soap opera, but I thought it was terrible when they did that, and I remember her dying in his arms. Chuck and Bob were too much! I thought they were the best part of the show. Great clip!

  • @dnoble317 that was so sad. I was just getting to like her and they killed her. Poor Danny.

  • @rvsnycguy I was bawling, not balling. Maybe you got luckier.

  • Where did we drift ? Now we have garbage on the tube. Reality shows, The Office, Family Matters. Where are the real writers who gave us great shows like Soap ?

  • While Soap is one of my all-time favorites, I'm going to have to defend The Office, another great sitcom serial in the vein of Soap and Arrested Development. I'm surprised you'd lump it together with Family Matters, pulp spin-off mediocrity that came out 15 years before it...

  • 100 % Absolutely man I could not agree more this era in TV Music this is what pure love and passion for something equals, todays feeble attempt of reality TV borderline comely, drama I will take the real SNL, Taxi Hill Street Blues any day

  • was that ron lucas who played chuck

  • I so miss this show...

  • I still think Bob's a psychic...

  • Bah, watching this stuff makes me wish I wasn't born in the 90s. All the really good stuff was from before I was around...

  • I do not think anyone today could pull this type of humor off, these actors all just so great in their roles

  • because season four went downhill. (aside from chuck and bob)

  • Classic!

...and I would have watched too if Chuck and Bob had gotten their own 30 minute spinoff series haha:-D

  • Poor Mary - she's just looking at Burt like "Are you seriously going to try this?" LOVE!!

  • The look on Marys face at 1.29 just to fumy. It brings back great memories from this show

  • 1:50 to 1:58 LMAO!!! THAT IS SOME FUNNY SHIT

  • loved it then !! still love it!!

  • I remember this as a kid. So so so funny. Love it....

  • That was really funny! Does anyone have the time when Bob was a Medical Scholar reading the X-rays?

  • All that's missing is the sarcastic clapping family

  • soap = comedy GOLD!!!!!!!!! of course the rest of this scene is funny as hell, but the look on mary's face when burt picked up that apple sends me over the edge every time. a classic sitcom tvland obviously overlooked.

  • I was thinking exactly this, lol!

  • danny does have a nice bread basket

  • LMAO, I so remember this! I LOVED this show, which by the way, I saw at Best Buy, it was the ENTIRE series, cost 49.99that I did'nt have, but I'm going back, when I do, for sure...

  • They should use Chuck and Bob in an episode of Family Guy

  • This is one of my all time favorite scenes. I have told people about this scene who have never heard of Soap! I cant believe I found this! Thank you so much for posting. This show was/is BRILLIANT

  • Chuck and Bob were the reason I started watching Soap in the first place. My mom didn't want me watching it, because it was too "grown-up" for me. HA! I was just starting to figure out that my classmates knew something I didn't, and Jody (Billy Crystal's character) was a great role model.

  • Chuck looks like the guy from ABBA!!!

  • What episode # is this?

  • LMFAO!!!!

  • Hahahahahaha.....who's the real dummy???

  • Half of the pleasure of watching this clip is Danny's bread basket! He always wore it proud!

  • This show was always a hoot. I loved all the characters. I guess it's time I look into buying the DVD's. Never got tired of watching Soap.

  • Ted Wass is hilarious in this scene.

  • Comment removed

  • Freakin hilarious!

  • In retrospect they should have done more with BOB on the show.

Chester should get killed off the show and BOb goes on trial for his murder, but gets off free coz they couldn't match Bob's DNA.

    LOL!

or BOB goes on 70's version of disco american idol..

  • Funny, but perhaps they could find a splinter on Chester and link that to Bob.

  • That would have been fabulous.

  • I believe I heard once that originally Chuck was supposed to be the one who had killed his brother Peter but Chuck and Bob were so popular they didn't want to write them out of the show!

  • Classic bit. I always thought Chuck and Bob were the funniest thing on the show.

  • I had a great time watching the show back then. Even broadcasted over here in the Netherlands. It was awesome.

  • total laughs - funniest scene I've ever seen from any show or movie.

    always loved the show.

got all 4 seasons on DVD and they are major laughs no matter how many times watched

  • A GREAT show full of real laughs. I wish they would rerun it!!

  • ''this is amazing!''danny was the original ''himbo''!lol

  • Burt n Danny so stupid they are fallin for it.

    But it was funny.

  • "I cant see a thing, I swear"

  • "CHUCK can see what you're holding up!"

    "But Bob CAN'T!"

    I <3 Danny

  • No it isn't. Richard Mulligan was later on Empty Nest though.

  • Isn't that the old guy from "Punky Brewster"??

  • "Empty Nest"--Richard Mulligan (RIP)

  • danny did have some scary moments.

  • This show was a RIOT and what caused it to end was the DAYTIME SOAP OPERA fans who bombarded the network with complaints on how SOAP was ridicluing there "Shows". Network caved in..

  • what? where did you come up with that???

  • This is hilarious!!!!!

  • This is one of the funniest skits in one of the funniest shows ever on TV

  • How does Bob do that?

  • Bob the mindreader. Great episode. Danny is so stupid.

    Bob rocks, Bob rules!

  • He's gotta be peeking!!

  • Man, that's amazing. How did Bob know what Danny and then Burt where holding?

  • Thanks for taking the time to post! I'd alomost forgotten how funny "Soap" was. Is!

  • First time I saw this when watching the 2nd series - it took me as long as it took Bert to realise! It's hard to remember that Bob's a dummy...well for some it is.

  • my god Danny is a dunce!!

GOD BLESS YOU FOR PUTTING THIS UP!!

  • Thank You, Thank You, Thank You for posting. Definitely one of my favourite all time TV scenes.

  • Jay was a brilliant ventriloquist. He did an appearance on a show on HBO, I forget the show, but it was all these ventriloquists and puppet masters. Jay had Chuck with him and was funnier than anything you've ever seen. Especially a part where Jay was gonna do the old drinking water routine. And Chuck tells him, "if you can do that, that's a trick". The way Bob said was funny as hell.
