This movie is stupid as fuck. I watched it with three intelligent people several years ago. When it was over, one of them took the VHS tape out of the VCR and threw it at the wall in disgust.

Wow! A great, simple and little film. Tales of harsh reality. The story opens a window on the lives of several characters made of betrayal, pain, poverty, family, beer and dreams. All have pain, all of them face, but they will sooner or later cease.

It is too hard to connect 22 characters and make them a plausible relationship between all with each other. Jack Lemmon's monologue is one of the best I ever seen. All actors here play simple parts and no one over pass the other. Great film!

The film is actually really good. Altman definitely puts his own "spin" in his version, but he didn't "butcher' Carver.. :)

wow i've had the book for awhile and just decided to look up the movie. i hope the movie is good on it's own right because it just looks awful compared to the book. like when they turned bukowski's factotum into a movie, they missed the importance of making it a period piece. ugh. seriously disappointed.
