This band is great. The lead vocals are powerful and soulful..but the jazzy chords (I smell a keyboard player) on the turnaround take away from the grit and desperation that I like about this song. Hey, whatever fuels your passion.
@efyfsmith Well, we pretty much borrowed this arrangement (and those chord changes) straight from the John Mayer/John Scofield version, off the "John Scofield Plays the Music of Ray Charles" album. So if you don't dig the changes, don't blame the keyboard player, blame John Scofield! However, since this performance, we've tweaked the arrangement a bit, keeping the straight ahead 1-4-5 changes through the verses and only going to the more jazzy changes for the solos.
