First, in your little annotations in the video, it should say "tag, you're it!" not "your". Second, doesn't that sugar glider pee and poop all over your furniture? :-/
@forgetfuldays - Actually cee5222 is absolutely right. The name of the bacteria that is poisonous to gliders (& all small animals) is Pasteurella multocida bacteria. That's actually, obviously combined w/ the fang punctures, what kills most cats' small animal prey. It's a slow & painful death. Cee5222 has been a glider owner and rescuer for YEARS, she knows what she's talking about. Next time don't be so exasperated & condescending because now you're the one who looks foolish.
Do you have any idea how dangerous this is? Look at the end! All it would take is that cat having its claws even a little out in order to cause serious injury to the glider. Cats are predatory species, domestic cats kill tons of mice every year. No matter how cute you think it is that they are "playing tag" that cat is stalking prey. It may even legitimately just want to play, but gliders are pretty delicate. It only takes a split second for everything to go horribly and irreversibly wrong.
@MutedVision Nah, if the cat was stalking prey, he'd do the famous "kitty butt wiggle". Think he just couldn't figure out what the hell it was. Though the owner should have been closer to stop the last part from happening, it's usually recommended to socialize gliders, even with cats. This is a young cat so it's possible to teach the cat "small fury thing is friend, don't eat"... however, with older cats, it's probably a bad idea.
Bacteria on the cats claw & in its saliva, will kill a glider slowly & painfully. There is no cure. The 'vet' that approves of this must be from the ASGV, which is connected to Perfect Pocket Pets, who are known for selling inbred, too young joeys, with a plethora of misinformation.
The cat DID hook the glider with at least one claw. If it was fun for the glider, why did it crab, then try to escape to its owner?
We're not over reacting. I hope the owner stops this before its too late.
@cee5222 /sigh...ALL living creatures carry bacteria. Bacteria can cause infections, however what specific bacteria do all cats carry that all sugar gliders cannot fend off?
What case studies have you observed? What medical documentation can you provide for these false facts you are giving?
Unless you provide specifics about the bacteria cats carry and how it affects the sugar glider then your just a pathetic troll and a liar.../facepalm
People are such complete idiots. That cat was not "playing." It hooked the glider WITH IT'S CLAWS and that glider was desperate to get away. This is ANIMAL ABUSE, and anyone who thinks it's ok or "personal preference" is just as braindead as these owners. Temperament does not override INSTINCTS and that cat was "toying" with it's food, as they do with mice or any other small animal. Hmmm, maybe we should let these owners play "tag" with a lion, sound fun??? Asswipes....
@angelic4296 Possibly if both were adopted as babies and raised together, they would be okay. The owner should at the very least put Soft Claws on the cats front claws so at least it won't "accidently" get the glider with a claw. Personally I think Sugar Gliders are really cool, but having twelve cats kind of limits the types of other pets we can have - if any!!
Cat are predatorial animals. They WILL chase / eat tiny things that moves fast. Like rats, squirrles, birds. I am pretty sure your Sugar Glider is no longer alive.
The sugar glider VET recommends COMPANIONSHIP not CATS! I am an experienced glider breeder for almost 4 years. One thing I know is, YES it is possible to train your CAT to be "nice", but instinct is instinct. Dogs I am not sure. For a glider, everything is their friend if that glider is exposed to it long enough for it to know that "everything" is a friend. I have 4 cats at home, never ONCE i left them with 1 cat on a couch TOGETHER!! this was my opinion, what's yours? PEACE!
I was told by someone at our local Humane Society that owning a Sugar Glider is not legal in certain areas (USA and Canada), does anyone know that for sure?
@weatherboi one of them is Alaska. the other is i am not sure but it might be California. there are only 2 or 3 states that don't allow them but some cities or county's also may not allow them
That is one UUUGLY kitten. I mean, wow. Who beat that thing with the ugly stick? It looks like a baby skunk. Or a skink or something. No wonder the bigger cat is bullying the little gimpy one.

@IncomeGDI , haha, yeah sorry. I was having a bad day, and took it out on everybody on youtube. but the smaller thing is a sugar glider, which is a possum, and not a cat.

maybe if you guys cared so much about this sugar glider getting scratched and cared so much about animals u guys wouldnt comment on a video and waste your time telling someone off and you guys would spend your time rescueing animals from a shelter and helping take care of lost and hurt animals. such shame.... i swear. this cat is clearly just playing with the sugar glider its not like the fucking cat is a fucking tiger bro.
My cat and suggie do that all the time! It's the funniest thing. And I know their playing because if my sugar-glider didn't want to play with the cat, he would just go back to his cage, where they cat can't get him.
And the person who said sugar-gliders are allergic to cats is a moron. One entire species of mammal cannot be allergic to another entire species of animal. That's genetically and biologically impossible.
@geoffreyfreak but the cat could also see it as food just the fact that it looks like a squerl. however i think all mammals can get along with few exceptions. if you introduce them the right way they will probably get a long. its easier to raze them to gether that way they think they are in the same family. this fact has been proven because after all animals can form bonds with humans which is a totally different animal then most.
felines "which is pretty much all cats domestic and wild"
and primates. primates are big apes such as gorillas and chimpanzees.
there are many other families in the mammal class but its pointless to name all of them. marsupials is just a different family but they are in the mammal category. you must have gotten the two mixed up. any ways to answer you in short yes sugar gliders are mammals, but in a different family.
@MissKirstenNelson I agree with you, this kitten just hasn't learned how to hunt, but is interested in the sugar glider the same way it would be interested in a feather toy if you get my drift. I work for the SPCA and use different toys to play with the cats, and when a kitten is stalking like that, it is interested in clawing, chewing and batting the item around... Hope you don't lose your glider to your kitten since I've heard of "friendships" like this turning foul "unexpectedly".
How can humans justify racism? Nature designed these two different species to be predator & prey, yet they're friends. We could learn a lot from these so-called "inferior" beasts.
male cats even eat their own kittens dont think they wont eat a sugar glider. they eat their kitten so female will mate quicker their not even hungrey.
@hack0si may be you dont no nothing. gliders get a long with humans, the most ignorant animals ever to live on earth and yet they get a long with us. cats can get a long with dogs, there natural competitor. yes the glider might be at more of a risk getting hert by accident but this cat doesn't have intention on killing the glider. if it wanted to kill the glider the glider would already be dead.
i think that everyone is over reacting. its all personal preference as to what they want their glider to be bonded with. Vets even say that animals like cats and dogs are good companions to gliders. now why would a VET approve of this and even reccomend such practice, especially if you only have one glider, if there would be problems? duh, there would need to be supervision, but clearly this video was NOT meant to be harmful or misleading in any way. it was completely innocent
@londonbridge143 hmmmmmmmmmmm even though you claim to be a vet i wouldn't let an exotic pet that ive payed a lot for play with my dog or cat :S plus this sugar glider shouldn't have been on it's own any way it's bad for a social animal to not have either a partner or a group of it's own species !
@darknessfalls198923 did i say i was a vet? or did i say " vets even say... and vets approve..." i didnt say the words "i am a vet" but to clear things up, i was a tech for 2 years at Wesson Animal Clinic and also for 2 years at Old Shell Animal Hospital, so in this case, your assumption was ok... but like i said, its all PERSONAL PREFERENCE. you just said that YOU wouldnt have your "expensive exotic pet" playig with your dog or cat...well, thats what you choose to do...others may choose diff
That noise at 1:23 was not a friendly noise. It's called crabbing they do it when they are irritated or angry. I understand you were supervising them and that your cat did not harm your sugar glider, but please be aware that your glider can very easily be hurt by your cat.
Whoeve posted this video is retarded......so the person who said sugar gliders dont have smell to them how do you know, do you have cat instinct? Glider pee does too have a smell to it, obviously you dont own any to know that. If you dont know what the hell your talking about shut the fuck up. That cat/kitten used its nails on that glider when the glider made the noise. If you didnt see it then your just retarded. Personally someone like this shouldnt own these animals.
@Matrix11007 dude household pets as in cats and dogs will not attack the sugar glider because unlike rodentss sugar gliders have no bad smells to them that would make the cat or dog wanna eat them even there poop or pee does not smell.. but i mean ya the cats will wonder wat the thing is when you first take it home after you let the cat or dog check it out for a week or 2 they will be the best of friends
My roommate's cockatoo and cat got along fine for 5 years. One day the cat chased the bird and "grabbed" him with the paws as normal, and did some mock chewing as normal... this time punctured the skin just a little with claw or tooth and the bird died of infection.
If the cat saw this glider as food it'd be over in a sec of course. But even playing, it looks just a bit risky, esp. with the glider's delicate wings.
you guys really need to stop freaking out. crabbing means he's having FUN. cats NEVER "play" with mice before eating them in the same fashion it was playing with this glider!
RELAX he just said his cats de clawed...even if d cat wanted to hurt the baby it would have calm down....this is so cute..how did u get them to get along lol
ok guys seriously, I have 4 Sugar Gliders. I don't own a cat so before someone jumps down my throat about approving of this video. I watched the Video a couple of times, Yes the Glider Crabbed at the end when the cat got a bit rough, but the glider antagonized the cat a few times and also came right up next to the cat if it were afraid of the cat it wouldn't have gone anywhere near it. My gliders play with me on the couch much the same was as that one did with the cat.
u guys are all crazy, my sugar glider loves all 3 of my cats and my basset hound, ive seen him wake up the biggest cat more than once to play with him. no i dont have 2 gliders but i give Ludacris more than enough attention than he needs. he loves ro ride around on my cats and theyve even been known to open his food jar for him (which makes a huge mess btw) so really, calm down everyone, that sugar glider could have easily gotten away if it felt threatened, its a GLIDER!!!
I have a glider and a cat as well. I introduced the glider to the cat slowly. The glider was always on me. Then I got the cat (house cat) use to that scent. I slowly let them get closer till the glider jumped on the cat's back. The cat did not like this, but it established boundaries that stand to this day. Now, I can let them be in the other room with out much worry. The Glider will actually chase the cat around the house. The cat will get close, but not to close. Each animal will be different.
Yeah, they both were playing. Unfortunately the cat used its nails on the glider, which isn't good. Cats play tougher than what the glider can take. :/
my cat dont have its front claws and before yall jump on me about that as well. I got him that way and dont believe in removing cats claws. Yall can also stop stressing about the cat and glider they no longer live together because the cat lives with my mother now and the glider i gave to someone who had another one because i couldnt spend as much time with him as i would of like since i have six kids in all. LIke thats any of yalls biz niz anyways. Peeeeeeeeeeace!

@peachjo122 Please be aware that sugar gliders are ALLERGIC to cats.a single scape from a cat will result in death to your glider.PLEASE stop this right away and PLEASE remove this video from youtube.you are giving the wrong idea to people.this video post could easily result in the death of many innocent gliders!
@dmbkny11 lmao ummm NO! im not violating any rules here on youtube. If people arent smart enough to know there animals then shame on them. i am not promoting that all cats get along with suggies. Mine did! thats that.
@peachjo122 Well youtube veiwers please be aware that allowing Gliders to play with cats WILL result in DEATH! this is not a matter of who's right or wrong or who's on the internet. This is a fact.people like peachjo122 are the driving force behind ignorance resulting in the exploitation and abuse of these innocent creatures.
@dmbkny11 ..no, though you are very opinionated, you are wrong. it is case by case. there is a 9 year old cat that has been with the same glider for 7 years, and not once has there been an accident or a health hazzard. they sleep together..he is always wrapped in the cats fur either under his stomach or on his back..you are making a bold statement that you are trying to make as fact, when you can be proven wrong by many people's experiences. try not to sound so bold about something u dont know
@dmbkny11 HAHAHAHAAHAAAA your kidding right? No one animal is genetically 100% guaranteed to be alergic to anything, besides lol the cat has to claws. Plus sugar gliders are colony animals, they get along with virtually every pet with a conscience, the exceptions being snakes, tarantulas and in many cases birds.
why get a glider you can't spend time with? Didn't you know it was a "spend time with" kind of animal? Or are you the kind of person who just doesn't put that much thought into things? Why get a cat then give it away?
@peachjo122 You're right, it's not our business, and so thank you that much more for letting us know so we can watch the cuteness without feeling as scared for the glider! Some cats are just sweet like that :)
@peachjo122 , haha, your comment made me laugh so much! Even though you're correct, it's finally nice to see a sugar glider owner with some sense, but six kids!

OMG I can't believe what you are doing to that poor sugar glider. Do you have any idea how fast that cat can hurt that sugar glider? Please don't do that. This video shouldn't even be posted. It will make others think it's ok.
and what about those little cat toys do they smell like rodents too? cause my cats will do the same thing to those toys that they would do to any other mouse. im sure your glider would much rather be playing with another glider.
it doesnt matter if its a rodent or not. i have gliders of my own and 3 cats. i see how they look at them they want to "play" with the gliders just like they played with the mouse i have seen them play with. its a tiny furry thing thats moving around fast. they are going to want to go after it and that cat is not playing tag its practicing. and when that cat gets older its going to want to find something to go after.
Ok people who are freaking out about the sugar glider being eaten by the kitten or stressed out. The sugar glider is not a rodent it looks like one but it is not. SO it doesn't smell like a potential snack. Another if do some research they will/can bond with other pets. It is obviously not stressed since it ingages the kitten in to play several times by coming up to it and touching it and getting it to follow and play back. If it felt threatened it would immediately go to its dad.
Birds are not rodents either, but cats will go after them. It's not the smell, it's the movement....
The only place that recommends letting your gliders bond to your pets is PPP, which is a mill breeder (and of course their millbreeder vet that has youtube videos..)
OMG You people are stupid! Its not animal cruelty, or anything like that the cat and the sugar glider ARE playing. If the cat wanted to eat the sugar glider he would of done it in the video. Ugh you knind of people bug the shit out of me. DO NOT WRITE ME BACK! I'LL WILL REPORT U 4 HURASSMENT!
If the sugar glider was stressed to the point where he didnt want to be near the cat he would have jumped back on his owner for defense like he did when the cat got too rambuctious so shut up ppl
Lmao! Look people they were just laying together before they started playing. My cat doesnt even chase flies! Yall can freak out all yall want, but my cat and suggie even clean each other. Even my dog cleans and lays with the cat and suggie. Relax people! LOL
I'm reporting this video to youtube and intended animal cruelty. You have to be the most poorly educated glider owner ever. Get rid of all of your animals and bury your head in the sand you fucking idiot.
@hack0si you reacted a bit much, dont you think? i mean, im a vet..have been for 6 years. and people like you have serious misconceptions about this whole thing. if you dont like the video, dont watch it. quit harrassing him and defiling his page, because you might could report him based on you opinion, but he can also report you for harassment. as a vet, i know that gliders are colony animals, meaning that they socialize with all types. if supervised, it is ok...so quit freaking out
@hack0si ... ps. also, as a senior member of ACCC, you cannot report "intent of animal cruelty" unless you have seen him harm him himself...which would to considered torture. so like i said, especially since the cat was de clawed, which cannot be proven, but by his word, no actual harm was brought to him. the glider is smart enough to get off the couch if he felt threatened or unsafe. and he did so after the cat's paw touched him. meaning the glider was in a playful state, and so was the cat
It may seem harmless to you but just because your cat hasn't killed him yet doesn't mean that it won't happen. Cats regularly play with animals and kill them not through claw or teeth but by SCARING THEM TO DEATH. Little sugar glider heart attack. Do you really want to do that?
That is one of the most irresponsible things I have ever seen a glider owner do! Our cats aren' vicious and usually act curious but there is no way I would ever tempt fate or their natural instinct! It looks like the cat did claw the glider at the end! One day you are going let it go too far and your glider is going to pay the price!
Relax lady! I would never let anything happen to my sugar glider and if i felt my cat would harm him i wouldnt let them play together. My cat is declawed and came that way. No i didnt get him from "perfect pocket pets". I have had him since he was a joey. He also plays with my little chihuahua dog.
Your cat may be declawed but he still has teeth doesn't he? Look, I'm not trying to be rude or anything and just think it would be in the best interest of your sugar glider that he doesn't have to play with your other animals. Does he not have a cagemate?
What in the world is wrong with you people? don't you know that cat will KILL & EAT your sugar glider. It is their NATURAL INSTINCT. I guess you got your sugar glider from Perfect Pocket Pets and they told you that all your animals would get along great. WRONG. Your cat might not do anything right now but eventually he will, it looked like he clawed him right at the end of this video. How long have you had your sugar glider?
This video kinda pisses me off, all it would take is 1 time for that cat to kill that glider...irresponsible!

there are many other families in the mammal class but its pointless to name all of them. marsupials is just a different family but they are in the mammal category. you must have gotten the two mixed up. any ways to answer you in short yes sugar gliders are mammals, but in a different family.
sorry if i am being rude

Marsupials are mammals...they give birth to LIVE young.

They aren't friends, the kitten is confused and hasn't learned to hunt- but she's obviously still in hunting mode.
Cute glider though. Best wishes with her. Praying this "friendship" doesn't turn out badly <3
MissKirstenNelson 11 months ago
@MissKirstenNelson I agree with you, this kitten just hasn't learned how to hunt, but is interested in the sugar glider the same way it would be interested in a feather toy if you get my drift. I work for the SPCA and use different toys to play with the cats, and when a kitten is stalking like that, it is interested in clawing, chewing and batting the item around... Hope you don't lose your glider to your kitten since I've heard of "friendships" like this turning foul "unexpectedly".
Degazio 8 months ago
How can humans justify racism? Nature designed these two different species to be predator & prey, yet they're friends. We could learn a lot from these so-called "inferior" beasts.

male cats even eat their own kittens dont think they wont eat a sugar glider. they eat their kitten so female will mate quicker their not even hungrey.

You obviously know nothing about the emotional and mental state of Gliders.
You are a fail Glider parent.
hack0si 1 year ago
@hack0si may be you dont no nothing. gliders get a long with humans, the most ignorant animals ever to live on earth and yet they get a long with us. cats can get a long with dogs, there natural competitor. yes the glider might be at more of a risk getting hert by accident but this cat doesn't have intention on killing the glider. if it wanted to kill the glider the glider would already be dead.
1947Israel 4 months ago
i think that everyone is over reacting. its all personal preference as to what they want their glider to be bonded with. Vets even say that animals like cats and dogs are good companions to gliders. now why would a VET approve of this and even reccomend such practice, especially if you only have one glider, if there would be problems? duh, there would need to be supervision, but clearly this video was NOT meant to be harmful or misleading in any way. it was completely innocent
londonbridge143 1 year ago 6
@londonbridge143 hmmmmmmmmmmm even though you claim to be a vet i wouldn't let an exotic pet that ive payed a lot for play with my dog or cat :S plus this sugar glider shouldn't have been on it's own any way it's bad for a social animal to not have either a partner or a group of it's own species !
darknessfalls198923 1 year ago

Thats just plain stupid. The cat isn't in play mode. It's in pounce mode. Like when they chase mice. You've been lucky so far.

But even playing, it looks just a bit risky, esp. with the glider's delicate wings.

ok guys seriously, I have 4 Sugar Gliders. My gliders play with me on the couch much the same was as that one did with the cat.
dracounouse 1 year ago 3
u guys are all crazy, my sugar glider loves all 3 of my cats and my basset hound, ive seen him wake up the biggest cat more than once to play with him. no i dont have 2 gliders but i give Ludacris more than enough attention than he needs. he loves ro ride around on my cats and theyve even been known to open his food jar for him (which makes a huge mess btw) so really, calm down everyone, that sugar glider could have easily gotten away if it felt threatened, its a GLIDER!!!
kingusjordanus 1 year ago 5
I have a glider and a cat as well. I introduced the glider to the cat slowly. The glider was always on me. Then I got the cat (house cat) use to that scent. I slowly let them get closer till the glider jumped on the cat's back. The cat did not like this, but it established boundaries that stand to this day. Now, I can let them be in the other room with out much worry. The Glider will actually chase the cat around the house. The cat will get close, but not to close. Each animal will be different.
Jeffro403 1 year ago 3
Yeah, they both were playing. Unfortunately the cat used its nails on the glider, which isn't good. Cats play tougher than what the glider can take. :/

my cat dont have its front claws and before yall jump on me about that as well. I got him that way and dont believe in removing cats claws. Yall can also stop stressing about the cat and glider they no longer live together because the cat lives with my mother now and the glider i gave to someone who had another one because i couldnt spend as much time with him as i would of like since i have six kids in all. @dmbkny11 ..no, though you are very opinionated, you are wrong. it is case by case. there is a 9 year old cat that has been with the same glider for 7 years, and not once has there been an accident or a health hazzard. they sleep together..he is always wrapped in the cats fur either under his stomach or on his back..you are making a bold statement that you are trying to make as fact, when you can be proven wrong by many people's experiences. try not to sound so bold about something u dont know

reptilegirl9 5 months ago
@dmbkny11 HAHAHAHAAHAAAA your kidding right? No one animal is genetically 100% guaranteed to be alergic to anything, besides lol the cat has to claws. Plus sugar gliders are colony animals, they get along with virtually every pet with a conscience, the exceptions being snakes, tarantulas and in many cases birds.

@dmbkny11 You're an idiot, sugar gliders aren't any more allergic to cats than people are.

@dmbkny11 sugar gliders r not "ALLERGIC" to cats u weirdo. a cat can claw a smaller animal to death...thats not allergic --_--.

and what about those little cat toys do they smell like rodents too? cause my cats will do the same thing to those toys that they would do to any other mouse. im sure your glider would much rather be playing with another glider.
kali545 2 years ago
it doesnt matter if its a rodent or not. i have gliders of my own and 3 cats. i see how they look at them they want to "play" with the gliders just like they played with the mouse i have seen them play with. its a tiny furry thing thats moving around fast. they are going to want to go after it and that cat is not playing tag its practicing. and when that cat gets older its going to want to find something to go after.
kali545 2 years ago
Ok people who are freaking out about the sugar glider being eaten by the kitten or stressed out. The sugar glider is not a rodent it looks like one but it is not. SO it doesn't smell like a potential snack. Another if do some research they will/can bond with other pets. It is obviously not stressed since it ingages the kitten in to play several times by coming up to it and touching it and getting it to follow and play back. If it felt threatened it would immediately go to its dad.
Noodlepunk 2 years ago
Birds are not rodents either, but cats will go after them. It's not the smell, it's the movement....
The only place that recommends letting your gliders bond to your pets is PPP, which is a mill breeder (and of course their millbreeder vet that has youtube videos..)

I'm reporting this video to youtube and intended animal cruelty. You have to be the most poorly educated glider owner ever. Get rid of all of your animals and bury your head in the sand you fucking idiot.
hack0si 2 years ago
@hack0si you reacted a bit much, dont you think? i mean, im a vet..have been for 6 years. and people like you have serious misconceptions about this whole thing. if you dont like the video, dont watch it. quit harrassing him and defiling his page, because you might could report him based on you opinion, but he can also report you for harassment. as a vet, i know that gliders are colony animals, meaning that they socialize with all types. if supervised, it is ok...so quit freaking out
londonbridge143 1 year ago
@hack0si ... ps. also, as a senior member of ACCC, you cannot report "intent of animal cruelty" unless you have seen him harm him himself...which would to considered torture. so like i said, especially since the cat was de clawed, which cannot be proven, but by his word, no actual harm was brought to him. the glider is smart enough to get off the couch if he felt threatened or unsafe. and he did so after the cat's paw touched him. meaning the glider was in a playful state, and so was the cat
londonbridge143 1 year ago

It's not a matter of the cat hurting your glider, that is obviously stressing the shit out of your suggie!
You are a terribly irresponsible owner.
hack0si 2 years ago
It may seem harmless to you but just because your cat hasn't killed him yet doesn't mean that it won't happen. Cats regularly play with animals and kill them not through claw or teeth but by SCARING THEM TO DEATH. Little sugar glider heart attack. Do you really want to do that?
jester185 2 years ago 3
Are you f--ing nuts. You shouldn't be allowed to have animals you moron. That glider was terrified
askwiggy 2 years ago
Yea.. If it was terrified, why did it stay on the couch with the cat?Instead of fleeing to the table or to the owner.

He also plays with my little chihuahua dog.
peachjo122 2 years ago 2
Your cat may be declawed but he still has teeth doesn't he? Look, I'm not trying to be rude or anything and just think it would be in the best interest of your sugar glider that he doesn't have to play with your other animals. Does he not have a cagemate?
tanyabrew 2 years ago 3
What in the world is wrong with you people? don't you know that cat will KILL & EAT your sugar glider. It is their NATURAL INSTINCT. I guess you got your sugar glider from Perfect Pocket Pets and they told you that all your animals would get along great. WRONG. Your cat might not do anything right now but eventually he will, it looked like he clawed him right at the end of this video. How long have you had your sugar glider?
