I was no great fan of Shostakovich. However, when I saw and heard Andre Rieu play his second waltz, I realized what a great composer he was. Rieu is probably the best interpreter of this waltz. Great arrangement, and so close to the audience one feels he is taking part in the concert not just watching

este waltz no es de juego, Shostakovich soporto la guerra y en esta sublime y trascendental obra el plasma el espiritu de lo mas bello existente pero envuelto en tragedia. Por otro lado el otro Waltz de este mismo video es una vulgaridad no tiene nada que ver con el verdadero arte o con Shostakovich, este señor Rieu es en verdad un facho y para nada un artista!

Actually,he is from Limburg.And yes,he does a great job,having his orchestra all in Baroque style,with a sense of humor.Very good violinplayer.He can do practically anything,he even played with a member of The Dubliners one time.Those guys were really fast on the fiddle,haha!
