At first, Shostakovich would have been very happy indeed seeing such large crowd all happy and singing. When the violinist enters an octave higher the way he enters, Shostakovich would have paused his breath for a second and then thought, "Oh, why not?" But when the trombone enters, he would have nervously smiled, looked around, looked at his shoes, and reached for a cigarette in his pocket. "They don't know what they sing about" (V.A.Berlinsky)
@sonofsun4 Actually it's in Tilburg, North Brabant Province and the exact location is the attraction park "De Efteling" I live near there and I've also been there too it fun :)
at the restaurant at 2:54 you can see the name on top of it as well :)
I was no great fan of Shostakovich. However, when I saw and heard Andre Rieu play his second waltz, I realized what a great composer he was. Rieu is probably the best interpreter of this waltz. Great arrangement, and so close to the audience one feels he is taking part in the concert not just watching
What is wrong with singing to it. music is an art form that should be respected and enjoyed. You should shut up and chill. The composer would have liked that people care for his music. chill out!!!
At a football game in 1994. I don't know exactly what match, but it was the first time André played in a foreign land. Next day he sold 100.000 CD's!!!
WOW i really enjoy the concert in live in my trip to Netherlands in 2004 GREAT MUSICIANS WITH A GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR, ANDRE A GREAT MASTER OF LEADERSHIP THE TWO HOURS OR THREE AT THE CONCERT FEEL LIKE 2-3 MINUTES
Actually,he is from Limburg. And yes,he does a great job, having his orchestra all in Baroque style, with a sense of humor.Very good violinplayer. He can do practically anything,he even played with a member of The Dubliners one time. Those guys were really fast on the fiddle, haha!
How does he do it? A pied piper with good looks and charm...even a sense of humor? Fiddles well, too. Hats off to him. You think he's French or German? Waiting for him to hit the Prokofiev here
Andre rieu is the king of classical music. Classical music is for all not just SNOBS
