  • My Ubuntu boots faster ;P

However, i'd like to have an Hackintosh, great OS with cheap good PC...

  • how you find the driver for hackintosh Acer Aspire 5920G?

  • hehe, FAIL APPLE :D

  • @Jantest34 it's not a fail becuase they are both still apple os just on a different notebook

  • @MatthewAhnify but fail Apple ^^

  • You are from india na ??

  • hmm. both are same speed enough good... just looks like the macbook loads desktop before log in,, and hackintosh loads desktop after .... nice race..

  • you can try enable 64bit kernel in Snow Leopard, or you alredy did?

  • They both seem relatively slow in my opinion, but it is interesting to see that the Hackintosh wins. I have that same laptop! (Acer Aspire 5920G!)

  • Hard Drives:

    Aspire 5920G: ST9160820AS

Macbook Pro 13 inch: Hitachi HTS543216L9A300

Both of these spin at 5400 rpm, current 2.5 incher standard.

Only two methods that can make OS load faster are:

    1. SSD (Relatively low capacity, but VERY EXPENSIVE!!!), the fastest possible.

    2. Upgrade the HDD to a 7200 rpm model, more affordable than SSD, but at a price premium vs 5400 rpm.

  • What CPUs are the computers using?

  • As of 2009, All members of MacBook Family (Polycarbonate, Unibody, Pro, Air) use Intel Core 2 Duo.

In this 13-inch MacBook Pro, it has 2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (Penryn) with 3MB L2 Cache

My Acer Aspire 5920G uses 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo (Merom) with 4MB L2 Cache.

Both of these have 2 GB of RAM, with DDR2 in Acer, and DDR3 in Macbook Pro.

GPU: Acer uses GeForce 8600M GT, while Macbook Pro uses GeForce 9400M.

  • @AspireAS5920 yay they are pretty slow but you know how macs are

  • wow hackintosh win :-O

  • Now this hackintosh is upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.2 (Re-format HDD). I bought a legal retail DVD from iStudio, Apple retailer, and I installed with guided instructions from Lifehacker.

MacBook Pro has 10.6.2 installed by upgrade method, and it seems slower than it used to in 10.5.8.
