  • Such a beautiful song and a very delicate voice from a young David Jones, Thanks for posting, one of my favourite tracks from the S O album.

  • An artist called Chris Tye has just covered this, check it out. Both great versions of an amazing song, Bowie is a legend

  • I was given a sneak preview of Mark Stewart's new album the other week. There's a version of LetterTo Hermione on it, which is, quite frankly - wild!!!

  • my God David you are were a genious.

  • thanks for posting this song. brilliant.

  • I'm pretty sure the girl in the pics was who he wrote this song for..am I correct ?

  • @sidewaysid Absolutely.

  • In the last image it looks like Bowie has 3 legs lol. Beautiful song though, my favourite.

  • Thankyou Bowie you paint pictures in my mind and make my emotions swell so i forget im bound by my perception of the world in which i dwell.

  • "I'm lyrical tragic, beautiful, as a great poet, full of suffering that is always the price of poetry: the suffering that unites him to his great companions, as his perhaps more poets composers."

  • One of his best songs for sure. Pretty certain that's Hutch singing the intro and outro. Amazing photos of a Feathers gig... thanks.

  • @CultureJudge this was probably the end of the sixties for the mainman and definitely no indication of what was to come.

  • beautiful version!

  • So many thanks for the post....it's wonderfull....full of emotion.

This song, especially this version, brings tears to my eyes...

    He is a Genius...my Hero....my God....

  • I absolutely love this song. I heard it for the first time about two weeks ago, and I've listened to it just about everyday since then. It's so beautiful.

  • the early stuff is still the best...

  • wonderful...never heard this version...thank you guise :)

  • This song makes me cry.

  • I'll lie down on your pillow in the quiet dark It's been a long time but here we are We used to have so much to say What can we do And if we cried tears they're mostly dried But still when I read your lines I find it hard to catch my breath and by the way you're right to say It's not okay So now the dawn has reached this hidden bed He looks back at me with eyes of love Your kisses are just poetry on a yellow page And what's the use But please keep writing love to me
  • You know, I learned this song on my guitar like six years ago and I play it everyday specially if I´m all by myself, I very rarely play it in front of other people, it´s the most magic Bowie love song for me and the most significant because of the lyrics. thanks for this absolutely, amazing version!!

  • The recording is sped up by at least quarter second, but that's the only downer about this fantastic post.

  • Wow Wicked version <never seen this thanks for the post,Love this song,Was it on the "Man who sold the world" album.Thx

  • @woodsworkciew Hi, We left a note on your channel. Cheers.

  • @minutegongcoughs This is a beautiful home recording by Mr. Bowie, don't you think so? BTW, who wrote this song?

  • Bowie's voice always sounds amazing, but with the early recordings there is something special. I guess that what got most of us interested in the first place.

    Such a beautiful sound.

    Thanks David

  • thank you ! is so nice!

  • "So I'll just write some love to you"

    beatiful ;_;

  • This version is far and away the best rendition of this song.

  • I have heard this song many many times in several versions but this one is IT!! It is sooo beautiful! Thank you so much for putting this up!

  • its funny that after 40 years that songs from the space oddity record are beginning to come alive! this is a beautiful

song,so is 'occasional dream'.im gobsmacked that time is revealing the beauty of bowie's work, a lot of stuff from 'man who sold the world' is experiencing a similer fate in my view,

I never thought they were bowie's best stuff but time is saying 'RECONSIDER'

  • oh bowie, you are too beautiful...

Thank you so much for this!!! really great!

  • You are a total star for putting this up. I want to thank you. So, thank you.

  • It's from a bootleg thats been knocking around for years on cassette, then cdr. It's now given the ubiquitous title "The Bedroom tapes, Home Recordings 1968". It has the earliest Space Oddity on it with John Hutchinson's vocal on the first verses.

  • Awesome, the best version of this song
