I am of no belief but think religion deserves the scathing critiicsm it deserves. Actually the whole religion of Islam is founded partially on a disrespect for people who do not believe in God (much of the early sura). To say Islam is 1 of humanities grandest achievements is akin to saying the hot dog is among the most greatest culinary accomplishments of mankind simply because of how popular it is.

Islam was not spread by conquest. It was spread by teaching the faith, if that was true, people would have revolted against the faith, there would have been so many revolts, you couldn't even count.

i think being an Iranian what bothers me the most is to see Iranian scientists such as Aviccina being refered to as Arab. He was an Iranian muslim, not arab. so here again mixing culture and religion, and not just in mere everyday talks, in academic books!

Agreed. When the Spanish Reconquista accured, they secretly remained their religions but infront the of the Spanish, they pretended to be christians in order to protect themselves. Some Muslims ever left Spain, the majority did, to be correct.
