  • Those are some nice pineapples. I'd buy 3 or 4 of them. I think that they're lying about the green ones, though.

  • Although I respect that they try hard. That is a dreadfully terrible marketing idea. Firstly, people driving by generally aren't interested in buying pineapples. Second, the place where they are selling is terrible, in the middle of the road? For example, If you were going to work, would you think, Oh, jee I feel like stopping in the middle of the road to buy some pineapples! Lastly, they're pineapples, people can't even eat them on the go while driving a car.

    Stupid people...

  • Those pineapples do look rather juicy.

  • bought a Pinapple yesterday in Pick n Pay. Probly means nothing to the manager or the owner. But if i had bought it from some one like these ladies wud have meant a lot to them. Just learned that we should always buy from such people when ever we can.

  • the video is inspiring

  • excellent, thanks

  • Support the Pineapples - Pineapple Appreciation Group @ facebook

  • wish the gov can stop feeding their pockets and assist people like this , even if it is just to develope them ..great vid makes us greatfull for what we have

  • All i can say. Is that i am proud to be at Rhodes. Excellent Video Chaps!

  • @Pauline608. Some of us still could not spell after an education due to dyslexia.

  • @NicholasStevens11

It is this sort of field to market culture still exists in parts of England. In most cases though you buy what you need in a sterile harmogonised slave labour boutique.

Go to any town in England that has not yet a Tesco and it will contain businesses selling comdities that have been there for hundreds of years. When the big boys go in and open up the superstore the culture of the area is removed. Its like cancer. Sucking the spirit out of our land.

  • @JPetrucci744 How do you look at your self in the mirrow, its always someone elses problem, would you poeple just for 1 secend stop thinking all about your selfs and give back, you say your life is bad and complain, but these poeple they don't and they have nothing.

  • @petujaymz It actually makes me someone that has an education and can spell, so i have been able to have a good job and earn money ,so that makes me feel sorry for anyone that is less fortunate than me !

  • If only we could stop runing are countrys for the good of our economies, if only world poverty were more important to us the electrate.

Still I beleve If we were all working together to solve world poverty we would need armys and wepons as mans evil to man could not be sorted by just distributing the welth.

  • The Pineapple Video represents the sad reality that some of us choose to ignore, but thanks to RhodesTV we are reminded of how much we have to be thankfull for. We hope this channel will start dialogues towards a better South Africa.

  • we have enough in the world to share what we have, nobody should have to live like this. And to all you who think that money is more important then people or you make pathetic jokes about this, you should hang your head in shame.

  • Check this out

  • I had to think when I was rating this because I wondered what I was voting for. I think it's such a shame there is so much wealth in the world with all the billionaires especially and yet poverty remains:(((

  • on a trip round Mexico there is a very similar situation, instead of pineapples they sell coconuts but the problem is the same, they live in utter poverty, its really quite upsetting, wish things could be different...

  • Thats sad. Nobody wants fruit.

They should sell cookies or something.

  • Damn don't nobody want no pineapples

  • there's so much fuckin' hate running thru so many comments here..don't want only cuddly comments..but we're heading downhill fast !!!

  • those pineapples looks much better and sweet then the super market onces

  • if people give like the muslim zakat there will be less poor people in the world feed the poor great touching clip this

  • What country is this set in?

  • @guccipinkyloveable The country is South Africa.

  • @guccipinkyloveable South Africa

  • Heart warming. Political corruption has brought humanity to its knees.

  • Hey RhodesTV. Thanks for that. It's a really great little doccie. Keep doing what you doing. We need to tell as many of these stories as possible

  • #LOL

  • Why are u lot being so mean these women are trying to live there life by selling pineapples and its the only way to make money and people are trying to steal there stuff which is not nice at all and they just get anouth to pay the rent probally so If I were you I would think what your saying first.

  • People who haven't anything constructive to post should not go near their computers. I'm sure these women wish no-one any harm and would certainly not condemn others like that. Hope you have a nice life, whoever you are. Is the difference between green and yellow pineapples all you could learn from this?

  • @meldrewmoment People who don't have any idea how to evolve and adapt to the ever chaning and exceptionally harsh reality that is ever-consuming the internet should not post. i.e. YOU! ;D

  • I don't want to add flame to the fire, but just need to point out that it is not her child. It is her grandchild, who's parent have passed on.

  • The women are poor but at least they have food, look how fat they got. Plus it makes me angry seeing them with their children, why do they have children if they're too poor to look after themselves? No sympathy from me.

  • @JPetrucci744 Your Not as roud as the other guy but thats quite mean

  • you know thease ladies are brave they work and they arnt afraid to go out everyday and sit for maybe 10 hours a day and hope to sell one pineappel screw all the dumd americans who think southafrica is like loins running across the road and just go eat ppl well its not like that johannesburg is a great city and im proudly southafrican

  • this is sad :(

  • I learned something today... Buy green pineapples - they last longer and taste great! :)

  • its like im the middle of nowhere! but i want a pineapple now

  • No. There particular ladies are on the East London side, but there are lots of other ladies in similar situations all over the Eastern Cape.

  • this is sad next time we drive past them buy 2 or 3 it helps them alot. try your best

  • This video is sad, everyone should just be greatful of what they have because theres always people that are worster then you, and you people commenting sadness you are just showing how heartless you really are.

  • She certainly doesn't look under fed? I like the way she checks her flip Mobile Phone for messages................ I know how she feels though I'm a Coconut seller in Peckham.................. :-0)

  • Thanks for all the comments. The ladies are still out everyday, and they stand about 30km from Peddie (towards Grahamstown) along the N2.

  • @mattjohnedwards So they not on the PE side of Grahamstown on the N2?

  • A nice wake up call to how truly blessed we are to have all the luxuries we do. Yet we waste our freedoms and complain, thinking we 'have it hard'. In truth we don't know the meaning of the word.

  • @SadisticLeprechaun Do you have no compassion in you ? .

  • They are on the road between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown correct? It's not a bad drive, maybe I'll do it this weekend and stop to buy a few pineapples from them, they sure look delicious!

  • @petujaymz you are one sad person !

  • We should all be so grateful that we dont have to live like that ,the western world has a lot to answer for big cars, big houses and SMALL hearts

  • @DoomThroughDoom

hypocrite, who is hypocrite, / blood for oil / atomic weapons/ junky food / =western democracy. if u have brain and it works u should understand

  • @hani990 u see, i told u , ur brain doesnt work , enjoy watching cnn and fox news thats where u get ur knowledge and education hhahahaa

  • dullest documentary ever?

  • I"m South African and we never used to buy or give money to any beggers because they end up buying alcohol with it, we would go out and buy them food or clothes because that way we know they wont get drunk and it helps more than just giving them money.

  • One should be grateful as life can be hard and cruel!

  • i just want to buy their pineapples even if i don't like them...

  • get a real job!!!

  • I would give her £5 for one. It would no doubt be the nicest pineapple I had ever had.

I would rather give more money to this person than give it to the cancerous supermarkets that are destroying our local economies individualism and turning the world in to one doomed generic cum stain.

    Moving video.

When the car drives past the women smiles dispite battling against all odds to subsist. Look at the sad faces when you drive to work tomorrow.

    This country's souls fucking lost.

  • @busckeen

    True.

  • @busckeen I tried to work out how much r20 was, i think its about 2 pence here in England. Its Pathetic, and i agree with everything that you have written. She stands there , lost, fed up, a child at her feet, and yet still manages to raise a smile for the drivers that go by.........I have put this onto my facebook page, but i can guarantee nobody will watch it. It breaks your heart x

  • @GLITTERPINKBUTTONS And I always deliberately drop 1p's and 2p's on the floor as I feel they are useless to me.

  • @busckeen that had to be the most deppressing thing i have ever seen barely make a penny but keep smiling the things we take advantage of in our day to day life such as electricity these people probably dont even have these things

  • @busckeen soul is lost? You must be joking.

  • I wonder how many pineapples she had to sell to get that scarf from Burberry, lol.

  • you have to feel sorry for these people and feel grateful for the things you have :/

  • I think it's awful how these women are out every moment, and earn so little money. It makes you realise how much you take for granted in life, and how really you shouldn't complain about things because they could be a lot worse. I really hope this video makes a difference, and opens peoples eyes to the real situations that are going on in the world. Hopefully something can be done to make these situations less common.

  • wow this is random and hani who rattled ur cage lol..

  • 20 - 30 Rand is £1.79 - £2.68 per day. So if they have 7 good days in a week they might earn £18.77 - less than £980 a year. Just think of the spare change you throw in the car astray or money pot you may have at home. Whilst others in countries with a better economy winge about a bigger house, a better car and where their next holiday is going to be.

The comments below sum up the state of society quite nicely.

  • pineapple express???

  • I would just help them out - either with money or with other suppliers

  • i dont like pineapple.

  • @c64c64c64 whahaha whahahaha - I was gonna make some funny comments here, but you got it sewn up nicely so I'll move on and annoy someone elses channel - fkn excellent - hahaha

  • @thepaperlantern LOL :)

  • They look like some delicious pineapples- i'd totally buy one :)

  • i don't imagine a mass market for pineapples.

perhaps they should be selling something else, something that isn't pineapples heh

  • The green pineapples sound like the best to me

  • sniggers should think about selling their pineapples in a market rather than the side of the road -_-

  • @sprayframe Clearly dont know anything about s.africa, could live miles from the nearest town, and even if they do, there would probli be about 50 other pineapple sellers in the same place....

  • @matsholloway

well then maybe they should sell chickens instead.

  • @sprayframe You are a sad example of the human race !

  • i would but some:)

    xxxx

  • To all the rasist people out there who dnt give a shit about other people who are less fortunate.Wat goes around comes around.!

take the time to think about urself attitude....

  • Poor Pinapples!

  • do know the type of people i hate the kind that are self obssesed and don't give a dam about other i would stop and give them money :@

  • @camileful don't you mean the kind of people who don't give a damn about you?

and why not, people like attention

  • MMMMMMMMM........i love pineaplles

  • I'd honestly stop and buy some if i ever drove past just for the cause. hopefully this raises some awareness in that area.

  • To be honest i expected this to be hilarious. like some random crazy guy holding up two massive fruits screaming 'PIIIEEENNNAAAPPPLLLEEEESSSSSSS FOOORRR SAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEELLLLLLLLLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

  • >=[ i dont find this very funny, i dont know how you people can stand around and laugh at these poor people, how would you like it if you had to stand around all day in the blazing hot sun waiting for someone to stop and buy something so you can just afourd to feed your child.??

you people make me sick ..

  • God Bless Mamas !

  • lol

  • "Sometimes the white people stop and give us things...but they don't buy pineapples". It must suck to live in Africa.

  • 2:12 angie

  • Selling pineapples sucks
