  • Does the roku have a wireless connection.

  • What we really want is to be freed from the bloodsucking comcast cable.. $70per month for superbasic loaded with double commercials. I disconnected 3 years ago and I really feel better...

  • Roku sucks..always screwing up needing to be rebooted.

  • that looks absolutely horrible. need a pc to que? no gracias.

  • roku has gotten even better! check out the roku2!

  • Into movies? Download this one via Amazon Instant Video:

    amazon.com/CJP/dp/B005BGZAQM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1313525743&sr=8-1

Or look us op on youtube, facebook and twitter!!

  • um.... this showed more netflix than that roku thing.. i still dont know what it's supposed to be

  • sooooo... do you need a netflix subscription or anything for this?

  • lol 0:47 fail

  • ROKu is the best! :)

  • Damn. They just came out with the new Roku 2 , and I'm really tempted... There are a lot of these settops out there that are just awful to use because the interfaces suck. I'm currently streaming Netflix on my Samsung BluRay player but it's slooooooow. The only thing the Roku doesn't have for me is local file playback like the Boxee or WD Live. If they'd come out with something that has all the great Roku bits PLUS local playback and a smooth AppleTV-esque interface i'd be all over it.

  • @syrupykeyboard

Blueray built in apps are just plain horrible. And the samsung blue ray i have can only grab movies from netflix that you have quere first from a computer. As far as these tv streamers, i use boxee, which is just plain great, even with the new ui, which i prefer the older one. the original roku ui just looked ugly to me. I havnt used the roku2 so cant comment on that.

  • ok i just broke my tv cuz the stupied remote

  • so as long as you have comcast internet....the roku box picks up the connection wirelessly? is this how it works?

  • save you money just use your wii and ps3

  • @jman19mwi what if i want to watch movies in two different rooms. I only have one xbox in one room. so that said i need a device like roku to be able to watch stuff in a family room.

  • @stalingrad32 then you buy one of this lol

  • @jman19mwi no...the xbox is waaay to glitchy for me using hulu and netflix, cause there lasy and have horrible updates to it to(with the wii and ps3 too i hve all of them)its a little slow to..but its way less glitchy

  • @adem1000000 ahhh no

  • @jman19mwi Even the video on HDMI 720P looks better than wii

  • apple tv is for nerds

  • OMFG I haven't seen Patrick Norton since TechTV

  • wwwdotwhatzonyourminddotcom, this box is awesome. goodbye cable and dish. goodbye to cable and dish for charging twice the price. goodbye redbox in 2nd quarter, roku is awesome. takes two seconds to get on the tv and you're watching your fave shows, movies and more.

  • sweet, i'm the 62,000th view

  • Netflix CEO Reed Hastings says he’s “definitely worried” that download caps set by Canadian ISPs could be “a significant negative for Netflix.”The net provider want to change the billing system now you might be charged by how much bandwidth you use and there talking 1 dollar maybe more for every Gigabyte you swollow. So if you still like netflix and this new billing passes be prepare to shit your pant when you recieve your next bill

  • Patrick needs to take the word "basically" out of his vocabulary.

  • Sorry wont watch this video, its been adblocked.

  • I have one of these plus a Neuros MP4 recorder for recording. I tried to record to vhs but theres some kind of copy protection on the Roku box that screws up the video when trying to record it. But the Neuros MP4 recorder works fine. Get both of those boxes and you can record! :)

  • Netflix billing me before 30 day period is over...what should I do. ?

  • @camboy1132 , call netflix and explain to them. They actually billed me 3 more times when I returned and refunded me.

  • Why do 7 people dislike? Go to mediostelco for more info. this is the device that will help change tv.

  • Ok, so is it only the movies that can be added through instant queue? Or all of the movies on netflix?

  • I just got a Roku for Christmas and damn is this this thing cool. I didn't expect it to come with all the extra channels. For those that may not know there are over 150, many are meh but many others keepers, most importantly majority are free. Also figured out on how to connect it to stream from the computer. And yes it makes the apple tv look pretty lame.

  • so far Boxee > Roku boxee.tv

  • her orgasm at 49 seconds does it for me

  • Comment removed

  • To watch YouTube on Roku go to this page owner.roku.com/Account/ChannelCode/ and enter code "B8VVK" and it will add YouTube do your dashboard.

Vimeo and BREAK are available too.

  • @TheHitchcockFamily very interesting. it said it would appear on the dashboard in 24 hours?

  • @VJFranzK I don't know what that's about. I even set up YouTube on my Mother in Law's new Roku just the day before yesterday and it showed up immediately.

  • omg it's the techTV guy.. I haven't seen him in FOREVER

  • @CapumOfOuttaSpace i knew he looked familiar!

  • Does roku open up netflix enitre library or a selected group of movies?

  • i have one of these they are so good!!!

  • hey, is there any way to get YouTube on Roku?

  • @VJFranzK I'd like to know that too! It seems Roku is progammable, but....

  • do u have to have a netflix acount??!?!?!

  • the video quality is great! looked hd on an old tube tv

  • He never did get to talking about the quality of the video.

  • @hellokitty2007

Oh right... Revision3 is sponsored by Netflix.

  • so does this have wifi? i don't have a "official" internet service. i get my internet from the neighborhood if ya know what i mean. Will roku work with that?

  • @bakanbi LMFAO, you would HATE my neighbourhood, everybody has WPA2 secuirity :P including me :)

  • @bakanbi

Yes, all Roku have wifi, and top of the line HD XR had an N modem in it.

Perhaps you can talk to the neighbor and get permission? I let one of mine do it and they stream just fine. You need like 3mbs but 5 is better.

  • I LOVE my Netflix !!!!!!

  • ruko fucking sucks yo it real fuck up on you,, i hate it,.. im so glad we got our nintendo wii

  • is quality good or shitty?

  • ROKU SUCKS

visit thepoindotcom and sign the petition to tell roku how bad this service is, you can search "ROKU"

  • Quick question for those who have used this. I'm considering getting one but the thing is the television I use for my movie viewing is right next to my computer. Could I use the computer and stream a movie to my TV without a major performance hit? I've got a Win xp computer running a 2.40 ghz cpu with about a gig of onboard memory. Please help me out. Thanks.

  • Yes, you could, but you're going to need a TV out card or video card that supports TV out, effectively treating your TV like an additional monitor.

Likewise, if you have an Xbox 360 or something along those lines, you can do so though that, as well.

The Roku works very well though; I saw one when visiting my family and watched a few movies through it; I personally don't need it because of my 360, but I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to fill that niche.

  • The roku box wont slow your computer down at all. it doesn't even connect to your computer. you just connect it to your tv, the power source and your ethernet cable (if you don't use the wireless connection).

what you might get a hit on is your internet connection, since you will be streaming the video. But if you've got a fast connection (like at least cable), you shouldn't have a problem.

  • i have a hdmi output on my laptop.

and connect it direct to my plasma!

    AND THEY NEVER MENTIONED THAT

IT FREE FOR MEMBERS! and quality depends on your internet speed.

selection is good NOT THE BEST but good!

  • i would guess it to be cheaper with the roku player(that is if you already have a netflix subscription), a pc is much more flexible but take into account its power usage

  • depending on ur video card if u have a hdmi out to ur tv or ur using an s-video...theres gonna be a difference in quality of video of course

  • i can stream super fast becuase i have a ASUS MOTHERBOARD

  • your a fucking moron.

  • I don't know if anyone answered your Q. U can plug in your pc to your tv with no major performance downgrade if you have an HDMI out on your pc and an HDMI in on your tv. I have the Roku, plays a lot better and in higher quality than my pc does with no snags.

  • the movies on pc aren't available in HD, on the box some are available in HD

  • I am probably the most reluctant to jump on any new technical bandwagons-but I ordered this gem and not only was I amazed(read AMAZED) at the Roku player, but astounded by hookup time-I watched my first movie in less than 15 minutes from box to truly happy. I would have spent another 99 bucks, if I would have known how great this little black is.

  • This is the future. Make no mistake

  • Does it have subtitles?

  • Does this work outside the US?

  • Patrick norton!!!!!!!!!! where have you been? I miss you since call for help dude!

  • this thing is the greatest, and it has upgraded to HD quality (since last june when the video was posted on youtube). roku box has become just surpassed my DVR in terms of bringing me stuff i wanna watch exactly when i wanna see it.

  • select titles are HD

  • do I have to pay for the movies?

  • MetaverseMultiMedia :

WRONG. that is NOT what she said. Stop trying to manipulate the conversation to cover her ignorance with your own.

  • i have that its so cool

  • is this compatible with mac?

  • No computer needed just a internet connection

  • bye bye apple tv ahhhh

  • @krazyblakk nostradamas?

  • @krazyblakk apple tv is better,

oh, i didn't noticed you were talking about the original

    yah the original sucks

  • In which store can I buy a Netflix Roku Player? When is it available in stores?

  • never, online only. U know how it goes, "the man" hates this sort of value and functionality for this price.

  • In which store can I buy a Netflix Roku Player? When is it available in the market?

  • her comment was slight. I wouldn't say it suggests that she doesn't understand that movies can be rendered from film in any quality. What is true however is that our film cameras today are better than those of the 70's so the movies today are nicer, even if the old ones are rendered in HD.

  • Sad that this Veronica Belmont doesn't seem to understand that even older movies can have HD transfers done because the resolution of film is so high. Why is she on a tech show again?

  • Ur an idiot, she was saying that older movies tend to have less demand for reissuing in HD, especially a non visual movie like boondock saints. She knows more about tek than u do.

  • MetaverseMultiMedia : you seemingly know absolutely nothing about the movie market in general. keep your astoundingly stupid comments to yourself.

  • Lets see, Casablanca HD sells as many units as Pirates of the Caribbean? Sure....As I said..movies have more visual vibrance and are in higher demand newer d. She knows the difference between 16:9 and 3:4. You're just a jerk.
