Elisia Graves Otis was my grandfather. Sadly none of the Otis' are still involved with the company. Nice to see some of the original elevators still in operation. Did you know that when they put elevators inside the Eiffel Tower they called upon my grandfather to design, build and install them? He must have been quite the engineer of his day.
The ballast drives the fluorescent tube lights. Once they get some age on them they start to hum or buzz (depending on however many lamps they are driving). The ones at my work just get hot and fail.
