  • Thanks!

  • Hey, Andrew Once again you posted a great helpful video. While practicing this I realized that add 2 (9) and Maj 9 are the same. So what is the difference? Just the name? Can you give me answer, if i'm right, or wrong? Thanks again, Andrew.

  • @AXELGRIZ,

Thanks for the kind words! Much appreciated...

The difference is that an, "add2" would be a triad with a second degree added. The formula would be; 1, 2, 3, 5. (or also; 1, 3, 5, 9).

The, "Maj. 9" type would be a seventh quality chord with the 9th added. That formula would be; 1, 3, 5, 7, 9.

    Hope this helps,

    Andrew Wasson

  • @creativeguitarstudio I see. Thanks.

  • @creativeguitarstudio Wait, so does adding the 7 change the function of that 2 (or 9)?

  • wow andrew jammed out "I'm Telling You Now" by Keb mo

  • man, your lessons really speak to the intermediateself-taught guitarplayer. it's been quite a while since i learned something new, but you're making it happen. thanks!

  • "u find it in most of introductory books" lol - this is music man what do u mean books. lol. Great video tho

  • @diodimov never read an guitar instruction book?

  • @diodimov That thinking underlines the lack of real artistry today.

  • @Blitzbok And your thinking underlines the way u r branding people without knowing them at all!

  • @diodimov Judge a tree by it's fruit. I do not need to know each fruit individually. The desire of those who dislike learning about music to vanquish educational texts already tells me everything I need to know.

  • "u find it in most of introductory books" lol - this is music man, books are in the passion

  • This is Very Very helpful Thank You!!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing your knowledge

  • Great stuff!

  • on the e/g# chord, if you didnt move the G from high the high e string to the low e string would that still be an inversion? thanks

  • @kweerb8 No because the root would be C, and then its not an inversion, but a (diffrent) voicing of C.

  • @kweerb8 An inversion is when a note other than the root is in the bass. It doesnt matter whats above, it matters whats below.

  • that you andrew!! for all your lessons you a great teach

  • what is that black thing under his bridge?

  • @Commiteee A midi pickup.

  • hi nice video. maybe you can do a music theory example of this video? like simple chords written on the treble cleff. for example in a music theory exam at my university they ask 'please voice lead these chords in the smoothest way'... if you could explain how to answer this it would be great :) maybe in nice step bt step way

  • Great video with clear and concise explanations. Thanks for your effort!

  • hey andrew i just saw ur video.....well im not learning hot to play guitar but i im studying bass guitar......i got the concept of inverting chords to create a smooth bass line in a chord preogression....but how do u arrange the other voices like soprano...alto? ( contralto in spanish ) and tenor to crate a smooth line without breaking the "rules" to a chord inversion like 5/3 6/3 6/4? thank u....awsome video

  • hey andrew... well i just saw r video .....im not really learning to play guitar but im studying bass guitar.. I got the concept of switching the bass note...but when it comes to the other voices like the soprano...alto? ( contralto in spanish i guess ) and tenor... how can u arrange these chord tones to their previous voice smoothly without making a "mistake" or breaking the rule of the inversion like 5/3 6/3 6/4?...anyway great video......thank you
