Zangief is amazing when you use him, The Dhalsim player here is really bad, they try to use him as just a ranged player, anyone who played original streetfighter would know even though he stretches he still hits just as far, it was kind of bull shit when i would get punched by Ryu from way far away (always thought he was punching my wrists) you really need to use the teleport skill alot, you need to abuse it so much to be really good and use him as well as you can. Can't just use basic fireball.
i think you are wrong. Teleport to the point of abusing it agaisnt Gief is just stupid he will punish you with his Lariat, fire ball spam and medium punches etc is the proper way to keep Geif at Bay. Teleporting works as a surprise attack, If Gief sees a teleport coming he will lariat and u will get hit. And he will corner you and rape u. That Dhalsim was good but was unlucky when Gief landed the ultra
I don't think zangief is trash, more the ppl that I play against online that use him. they fail and just jump over me when I am down and do some lariat or super. it's like Ryu Focus Attack spam.
some other bad match ups are blanka vs vega since vega's barcelona jump can easily be countered with blanka's electric attack, ans so makes it harder to make the jump moves, and vegas ground roll can be countered with blankas roll too. another is blanka vs abel/zangief since he is a grappler, blanka can use his electric attack to counter everything, damn, blanka's cheap!!
The Gief fighter would have won a lot sooner if he had'nt forgotten the green hand half way thru the first round. But then began over using it. The Dhalsim could mix in some slides and not rely so much on the fireball if he sees Geif starting to use the green hand alot. Also Dhalsim as pretty good standard throw range. Also both fighters forgot about using Focus defense.
Zangief is a more than capable character. No Dragon Punch nor Hadou-Ken to save your life.
Zangief's made for tough players that aren't afraid to fight head-on and take some hits. Just because he has powerful attack power doesn't necessarily mean he's trash. Tricky is more appropriate.
Dhalsim's the same. Winning with him requires good technique. A good player can be almost unreachable.
Anyone who doesn't get that is no Street Fighter player.

SF4's not that big of a deal. It just require some involvment and thinking, combined to some tech skill. And everything gets smooth from then. :)

only scrubs and Seth run away from gief, the only think you shouldn't be doing is wakeup cross ups on gief, or jump in on him while crouching, but tbh, you really shouldn't be jumping in on anybody who isn't in recovery frames.

Just a random comment from a Dhalsim player. This is actually one of the very few bad matchups that Dhalsim has... Once you get tripped the match is pretty hard to recover. Gief gets in on you and you cant get away because yoga teleport takes you in perfect range of lariat (which grounds you) and Dhalsim's slow air speed makes sliding under a jump or getting lucky on a crossup the only really viable way to get out of the corner. This was a good match by both players.
I think this is a bad matchup for Zangief too though. I mean, Dhalsim is the frickin' definition of "keep your opponent at arm's length"...and if Zangief can't get close, he can't hurt. I've seen a pro Dhalsim completely shut out a pro Zangief before, and that 'Gief was trying everything to get inside.
It all depends on the player, I guess. But I can testify that Zangief doesn't have it easy in this matchup either. XD

Not only that, but there are several times where the 'Sim player threw out crouching/standing fierce against the Lariat, when all he had to do was HK sweep when within proper range, which was just about every instance. Had he played the same match, but used the sweep in guaranteed situations he'd have mangled this Zangief.

Dhalsim has always been the "anti-Gief" because he can keep Gief at bay with fireballs and extensions. But good Gief players, like myself, always find that one opening and punish those sim users.
this is going to sound totally asinine but it just occured to me nary a second ago why dhalsim's alt coloration featured blue skin in the vs games: quite a lot of hindu deities also have blue skin.
what troubles me is that it looks like it's very easy to go from a blocked lariat into a spd (which thankfully seems to do less damage than hugo's 360).
Wow, seens that some Zangief moves are totally broken now, he is already top tier on alpha 3, now he has a really broken spin. It can't come out like that, the complains I have about a invencible shouryuken I have a invencible cyclone spin, or whatever the name of that move is.

Just an FYI to all of the people schlobbing Zangiefs knob:

what troubles me is that it looks like it's very easy to go from a blocked lariat into a spd (which thankfully seems to do less damage than hugo's 360).

Zangief has no projectiles whatsoever, I suppose the strength of his piledriver is a compensation.
Sucks to be Dhalsim for letting him in close range.

Wow, seens that some Zangief moves are totally broken now, he is already top tier on alpha 3, now he has a really broken spin. It can't come out like that, the complains I have about a invencible shouryuken I have a invencible cyclone spin, or whatever the name of that move is.
