  • I always love this song it is so beautiful.

  • He looks like a dork, but the song is awesome!

  • Perhaps the best song ever written! It appeals to most of us who have had a loved one leave us..when we least expect it! Thanks for posting this!

  • He dedicated this song to his father who died in a car accident when randy was only 12 years of age i read this on a newspaper a few years ago, but of course randy wrote it when he was already an adult, this song peaked to number 4 on june of 1979. Randy vanwarmer died of leukemia on january 12 2004. We miss you randy....

  • What saddens me is that today, an artist like Mr. Vanwarmer wouldn't make it in TODAY'S music industry. Pathetic, don't you think?

  • I loved this song in the 70's 80's 90's and up till today. When i play it I play it for at least an hour, This guy had incredible talent. I w ish he had sung more ballads. He died to young . but he in my mind is not forgotten. Thank you so much for all his video's I play them all. BryanR

  • It's never easy when someone leaves you. It's a feeling that I never want to know again. I hope no one ever leaves me.

  • @LerafoLuap Sound like you have been very fortunate and havent lost that special someone because this song represents that feeling exactly.

  • Hey I'm 41 and remember listening to this when I was very young. I lost my mother when I was 22, and just recently lost my dad. This song makes me cry, I feel they both left me and I needed them SOOOOO much. I'm not bitter, this is just a good song!!!

  • We played this tune in stage band back in 1979. I messed up continually on trumpet with this music. Good thing first first covered up for me. Great song!

  • This song makes me tear every time i hear it.. it reminds me of my mom who left to work overseas.. im not close to my brothers n dad n theyre always out of town... so im pretty much alone.. my friends have all married n had kids or busy with their career... i didnt stop my mom coz its what made her happy... but i remember thinkin pls don leave me.. shes the only one who has ever loved me unconditionally.. my bf doesnt.. he brings me nothing but down but all i can do is act happy.. like a clown..

  • @bumbleundefined Don't be with someone that brings you nothing but down!!

  • Internationally recognized I was a lil kid back to Cuba when my older brothers used to hit american radio stations and this one was and still is one my forever favorites

    RIP Randy

  • Gotcha all beat. I'm 73, and recently heard Randy's song for the first time I can recall. I am a long-time Michael Franks fan and was researching the subject of his haunting number "Song Birds". Turns out it was Randy, and I instantly loved this song and understood Michael as well.

  • A so-called "one-hit wonder", but one of the best, but saddest songs of all time. I first heard it around 1980, and 30 years later it is still one of my favorites-RIP Randy!
