A member of my parish Holy Name Group passed away in April; he had only some cousins, the funeral was planned at another parish near his home, and he almost didn't get a Requiem. Ultimately, he was able to get a Low Requiem.
Of course the SSPX is not in schism.... I mean they believe that they are part of the church and they acknowledge Pope Benedict as their Holy Father, Successor Of St Peter... The problem does not lie with them but with the Vatican - its not their fault that their Catholicism is not recognize
@Oblationem Thanks for this video. The interview was very good. I have the same problem in novus ordo. I considered converting via novus ordo and later found out about Marcel Lefebrve and the SSPX (along with other traditionalists). I also read up on novus ordo later in my high school years and found out that I needed the traditional way because for me the mass is a sacrifice for my God and Lord Jesus Christ. Something Novus Ordo did not offer. Thanks for your videos and may God bless you.
Thank you for all the excellent videos. I go to the retreat center Charlene talks about (her former parish -- 54 mile drive) for Mass and community activities.
The SSPX is where the adherents of the true Catholic faith reside.
The spark that will come to rekindle the faith throughout the Catholic Church is glowing in the SSPX.
SSPX people are basically all the horrible folk in church who hate babies and want everyone in church to shut up. Oh, and they're knowledge of liturgical history is non-existent. Naughty apostates!! :-)
Why do you say such a horrible thing? We (SSPX) simply want to worship God as our forefathers did. As far as babies go, our sister parish in Post Fall. Idaho baptized 100 babies last year (2008). And that is one reason that you (Novus Ordo) lose and we Traditionalists (Catholic Church) win. Oh! And our history goes back over 2,000 yrs, not 40 yrs as yours does.
@Oblationem Are you truly trying to refer to people who worship according to the Novus Ordo as apostates? I wasn't aware that SSPX taught sedevacanism. The person who commented calling you Nazis was totally out of line, but please, please, don't contribute to Christian disunity. Christ wanted His Church to be ONE. The Extraordinary Form of the Mass and the Ordinary are beautiful, precious, and legitimate. We should unite under out Holy Father and ask the Lord to end divisions in the Church.
I say that the Novus Ordo does not worship or believe as our Sainted forefathers did. There is only one true Catholic Mass, and that is the Mass of All Time. If you want to be united, come back to the Catholic Faith. The N.O. mass is not beautiful, it is a sacrilege, and against what the Church has always taught.
I was sick to death noticing the novelties of the novus ordo mass and I stopped going to church altogether. Better praying properly at home among my loved ones. But after hearing about the Tridentine Mass nearby, I assisted a little skeptical at first for the Latin, but I was glad there was a translation and after a few times I felt like I was there always! I felt at home, I found home finally!! DEO GRATIAS!!
It's so sad to see how modernists are destroying the church from the inside, but the true faith will never be destroyed and actually will flourish as we can see what's happening in this community.
Yes, you are correct. Now with the Motu Proprio there is no longer an excuse for 'all' to assist at a SSPX Traditional Catholic Latin Mass where you 'know' that the priests are validly ordained, and there are no Protestant influences. Remember, the pope admitted that the Old Mass was never done away with. It has always been the True Mass.
I found this to be a very well presented view of why so many people, myself included, have chosen to go to chapels ministered by the good and faithful priests of the SSPX. I thank God for them and pray for them all every day for they are up against so much. They are true priests who have great love for God and His Church, as well as the courage to expose and fight against the errors which have crept into the Church since the 1960's.
Thank you for posting this Oblationem. I currently attend the indult and haven't yet been to the local SSPX chapel. I'm sick and tired of feeling like an outcast, it's time to take the plunge!
Yes, you are correct, Eccentric. This is why the Society in its official capacity is always careful to refers to its mass locations as 'mass centres' rather than 'parishes' and 'chapels' rather than 'churches'.
SSPX has legitimate supplied jurisdiction because, as Bp. Williamson said, "for as long as this post-Conciliar crisis will last, namely that it consists in a war to the death between two directly opposed religions: the Catholic religion centered on God, and the Conciliar religion centered on man and the modern world. The Conciliar religion is a diabolically skilful counterfeit of the true religion. Between these two religions, as such, there can be no peace until one of them is dead."
I am not a priest. I have no intention of presenting myself as a priest. I DO NOT speak for the SSPX. I am just a Catholic layman. Furthermore, if you are opposed to the SSPX, I am not here to hold your hand.
"Conciliar religion is a diabolically skilful counterfeit of the true religion
"That is the same argument that a lot of protestant faith communities use. The Church is not the TRUE church anymore so I am going to start a TRUE church. If you are not in union with the Pope and do not have permission to celebrate mass by the bishop then you are not Catholic. You are protestant and a heretic.
The SSPX did not start a new Church, it celebrates as our Catholic Sainted Popes, martyrs and forefathers did. The SSPX has not invented anything new, (absolutely nothing). However the church that you attend mass at (small m) has invented new canon laws, sacraments and liturgy. The conciliar church is so foreign to Catholicism that it is now a new religion. It is also corrupt and immoral. We are not heretics and refuse to be Roman Protestants.
Archbishop Lefebvre really believed that he was acting out of necessity. If he was indeed correct in his belief that it was really necessary to consecrate the bishops, then he would not be subject to any penalty whatever (can. 1324.4). If he was in error and even if he was culpably in error in believing that it was necessary to consecrate bishops without a mandate from the Pope, then he still would not incur any automatic (latae sententice) penalty (can. 1324.3).
Are you trying to say that the post-Conciliar Church is not in a state of emergency, and that its ecclesiastical tribunals are not often doubtful? Do we (SSPX) not have the right to supply for this deficiency, by the means of tribunals functioning within the Society of Saint Pius X?
The bishop's comments and his presence at the Mass tells me that he thinks it appropriate to assist at an SSPX Mass, as does the Ecclesia Dei Commission.
Quasi-parish? Is this just a personal feeling or do you have something more to offer?
Auxiliary Bishop Kenneth Steiner of the Archdiocese of Portland, Oregon attended Mass at our chapel as a guest October 26, 2006. In youtube's search window, type in the words, Traditional Catholic Requiem Mass -- Part #2 of 3. I personally thanked him for coming and his reply was, "it's what the pope would have done, it's what Jesus would have done." Write him a letter and tell him what you think. Also, study up on supplied jurisdiction.

Is a 1962 missal valid in a SSPX tridentine mass?
FolkMusicFanatic 1 year ago
Yes, but I wish they would use a pre-1954 missal.

@Oblationen
Indeed, since the 1962 was an approach to the novus ordo popes by His Excellency the Archbishop...

I wish there was a SSPX chapel near me. There are only Novus Ordo churches with table altars and awful Masses.

The abrupt change to the Novus Ordo Mass was uncharitable to those who had been raised in the pre-Vatican II Church.

At many Indult Masses, one may not receive: Baptism, Penance, Weddings, Requiem Masses, Extreme Unction, and the traditional Catechism is not used.
At SSPX Masses, one receives the fullness of Catholicism, all of it...
