  • In another video of this series it is said that the pressure should be applied to the outer ski while turning. If that is true, the pressure in both skis will be different and therefore each of them will want to follow a different curve. To my knowledge, a slightly difference in pressure could make you fall... What is the proper way to make sure that both skis behave in the same way during turns?

  • ok, where are the 8 snowboarders who disliked this ?

  • BarkingDragon, get over yourself.

  • Great !!!

  • when u ski on a brick always be careful of one's prick lol

  • i love the music!

  • transworld sport guy?

  • Comment removed

  • i agree with mariogroup.. triumph your stupid

  • Loving that tight soundtrack....what cut was that?

  • @tbonestillz LOL

  • i think this is the best tutorial for skiing i've ever seen. when i learned to ski,it realy helps me to advance myself. Thanx guys !

  • anyone know the name of this song? its so nice and relaxing

  • "When you are able to ski with balance without your poles, you have become a really good skier."

I'm lucky to have been taught without poles.

  • @Mariogroup The poles are in integral part of the turn, I doubt it was a qualified instructor that taught you.

  • @triumph1974

No, they are not an integral part of the turn. If they were, I would crash every time. It was a qualified instructor out in Beaver Creek

  • @Mariogroup So your instructor never mentioned "the pole plant". They teach children with no poles so as not to confuse them, once you are at a certain level you should be able to multi task.

Why don't you post a video of your technique for all to see?

  • @triumph1974

Maybe I don't have a video camera. Maybe it's the middle of summer.

I hope you are not serious. You think there is one and only one way to ski? You can't learn without the poles? All instructors aren't the same. All people aren't the same.

  • @Mariogroup I said at a very basic level they teach you with no poles but once you advance the poles become part of the turn. Clearly, you are at a basic level with your skiing and reading or at least your comprehension of the english language.

  • @triumph1974

You need to go back and read what you said again. Clearly, I am not at a basic level at any of those that you listed. You may be, because you have some stupid thought in your head thinking everyone is taught the same way.

  • thanks

  • thanks

  • but that is so very irrelevant.

  • @Polumaratonac Why?

  • @TheYou0Tuber it took me quite some time to figure out what it was exactly that i thought was irrelevant - i commented on the video one year ago :)

so, now i got it - someone mentioned the music was boring, so i said it was so very irrelevant.

and the quality of music is obviously second to the quality of the instructions given in the video. so there.

  • I totally agree!

  • I wish i could ski as good as you guys, but one day i will !!

  • wth!? i thought you were supposed to shift BOTH knees!!!

  • Very helpful and great videos! Thanks!!

  • excellent video, very helpful-----the backgroud tune is very nice too, just wondering if anyone knows the name of it

  • Ha! I used to race in the late '60's and early '70's with skis (Rossignal Strato's and Dynamic VR-17's) that required excellent technique to carve. These skis were rockets once you knew how to carve. Now any moron can carve with crappy technique.

  • I agree. Both my parents worked at breckenridge in the 70s and hadnt skied on anything but straights untill 04 when i first went skiing.(yea kinda sad parents worked at a ski area i didnt go untill i was 15) they taught me the basics the first day and i was doin fine the second. But they could still smoke me... that form stayed with them and they can absolutley fly on parabolics. In conclusion a beginner can carve but still cant catch someone with form.

  • Back in the olden days when I was an extreme skier we used to ski barefoot on bricks. You had to have real talent to carve on those but you were like greased lightning once you had mad brick skills. Damn kids today and their newfangled skis and boots. They really ruined it for all of us old guys with excellent technique.

  • @BarkingDragon Thats sounds awesome but how can you ski on a brick? The surface area is pretty minimum...

  • @BarkingDragon

dude you're 35. you talk like you were around when skiing was invented.

  • this is a really great video.

    thanks :)

  • Thats a really good video thanks

  • Would really appreciate if you'd look at my technique. I think your vids are great by the way. I'm the one in the green jacket at the end of Les Arcs Part 2. Would appreciate any feedback. Cheers xx

  • ...taking classes may actually be a life-long learning, upgrading, process. Also, volunteer at your local sites when you're ready.

  • ...I've also learnt from observing the other skiers, what they do with their poles, how they move their arms, and such.

  • ...and goes without saying, actually get out and ski between lessons!

  • It's okay to watch this video series. From experience though taking classes is a must. Perhaps once every new year for beginners.

  • or skating.

  • the vid is just old thats all. the technique evolves with the skis. in the future there will be wider skis with a wide waist, which will allow excellent carving and good float on deepsnow. (twintips are wide but I mean even they get wider during the time) example is the voelkl sumo. (tip has something with 140)

  • well it didnt look icy o me at all...

  • first of all your name is arrogant. secondly, look at the last couple minutes at the high speed, his distance of skiis are fine. Not to mention this is probably for people coming off of straight oldie woods. .....

  • Their legs are to close together and their knees are not moving inside.

And this ski is not the right one to show how to carv...

  • I agree. Bad demo for an instructional video.

  • the guy's accent sounds fake

  • He's english ! Maybe an out of work thespian !

  • Your true colors are emerging krunchie. You're racial bias has absolutely nothing to do with skiing. Chill out.

  • ??? Idiot whackedgsgw. First of all, I bet your average French soldier back in the World Wars had a hell of a lot more courage than you. If you haven't studied the history and don't know how horrible life was back then, then shut up, you're just making a fool of yourself.

Second, you would hold someone accountable to one's ancestor's actions why?

Third, what does this have to do with skiing!? This vid is a good intro to carving.
