I wuz checkin out a dead steel mill in Duluth MN back in 88 and stopped at a used store on the way back picked up a used copy of this album and been lovin this music ever since!
lizzy could have done more country-style shuffles, some pedal steel would have done em some good. i think phil underestimated his inner cowboy. lizzy had a lot in their arsenal.
@ezrhino100 Oh my god sir !..too true ! I have always been a fan of the softer side of lizzy -the folky , bluesy , countryish lizzy ....{same goes with hendrix } ..i mean listin to the track "frankie carroll' ...i still like the heavy stuff ..but i really think lizzy could have been just as great -if not more so not doing heavy rock !
Then again...i put on live and dangerous -and " massacre " massacre's that thought , and think about what i just said and "dont believe a word ' ...er , yeh !
just bought on amazon tonight in my opinion the 5 iconic lizzy studio cuts , has to nightlife , fighting , jailbreak , johny the fox and bad reputation , had em all on vinyl , hey £25 for the lot , bargain , cant wait !
It's a damn shame more people here in America don't appreciate what great f-in music Thin Lizzy did. Better than almost anything we produced over here. The only song that most of us know is The Boys Are Back in Town.... what a damn shame. This is classic!!!!!!
@baxill23 Amen. Lizzy was incomparable. I had "Fighting" on 8-track (yes, I'm THAT old) because as a young kid in rural Oregon back in the mid-70s that was the only copy I could find. I eventually got in on vinyl and then CD. I think it's a friggin' masterpiece.
Damm i miss the 70s. The most magical time of music every offered. I am blessed to have gone thru that period. Miss ya phil and john. R.I.P Richard Wright. True legends!!
