  • I have seen every John Hughes movie and love them all for very different and special reasons.

  • I love how Anthony Michael Hall and Judd Nelson help the ladies off the step.

RIP and thank you, John Hughes.

  • Where is Andrew McCarthy?!

  • I love that Anthony Michael Hall and Judd Nelson help Molly Ringwald and Ally Sheedy off the step at the end.

RIP and thank you, John Hughes, the greatest filmmaker ever.

  • Hughes deserved an oscar for The Breakfast Club, that film changed the lives of ALL teenagers for the better

  • Culkin was sad.

  • Matthew Broderick still has the same unique voice from Ferris Bueller's Day off:)

    RIP John Hughes

  • why they didn't invite charlie sheen, joan and john cusack to the oscars pay tribute to John Hughes

    @kevinkhloe400

  • This is a beautiful tribute to John Hughes, he made fabulous films and is dearly missed :')

  • Judd nelson looked really good here.

Rest in Peace John, we all miss you very much.

  • John Hughes succeeded in making highly commercial movies that, for the most part, didn't suck. Why can't anyone seem to do that any more?

These movies defined my childhood and teenage years. Thanks for posting this. RIP, John.

  • 6:16 The best line ever.

  • @shurburs What's up w/ u? Something seriously wrong that's what. Have some RESPECT. Jeez.

  • Just having seen Ferris brought me here. Love that film

  • I may be only 13 but I really love all of John Hughes movie's. I have seen all the brat pack movies and just all of his movie's. It's sad he is dead. No one will ever make movie's like him. R.I.P John.

  • I was hoping to finally see Michael Schoeffling.

  • They gave him an Oscar tribute and yet John Hughes was never nominated for an Oscar, a Golden Globe, a B.A.F.T.A. or hardly any award and yet he wrote and directed so many classics. It just goes to show you how pointless and materialistic awards are.

  • @colmhearne that is such a good point my friend

  • woah seeing that clip of kevin bacon and alec baldwin, then thinking about how differently they've both aged.... i think kevin has better

  • Holy crap some of today's movie makers need to borrow a leaf!!! This was a genius!!

  • I could just cry

  • they just don't make movies like his anymore

    RIP John

  • For high school movies the only other director whose name would carry this much weight is Amy Heckerling ( Fast times at Ridgemont High, Clueless )

  • One of the BEST directors of my generation!

  • So I absolutely love the orchestra version of Don't You but can't find it anywhere. Can someone help me find it?

  • Macaulay Caulkin is so suave XD

  • Whats the movie at 2:49? anybody? please and thank you

  • @KurtHummel515 Some Kind of Wonderful

  • @KurtHummel515 some kind of wonderful. it's like a remake of Pretty in pink. not as good as pretty in pink, tough

  • @KurtHummel515 Some Kind of Wonderful. If you recognize Eric Stoltz in this video, I believe it's the same movie.

  • Duck: I think it is interesting too because when I think of Oscar nominated movies I don't think of the most popular movies, but more thoughtful ones. Are there some that are more popular and thoughtful at the same time? if you know what i mean. I agree that you are right that these popular movies are interesting even if they aren't "award" winners. I was 5 when TBC came out and it is a big "duh" to me that it is a popular movie. I have watched HA and HA2 tons. 7 yo nephew loves it now too!!!

  • @94Tka He is one of those actors that I swear never ages too. and I am not (at the age of 32 next may) old enough to remember him in 1980) but I do know he looks basically the same as in Footloose as he does now. Emilio Estevez looks a TON younger then than now. Not that he looks old now but he just looked really young in TBC. :) and is it just me as someone who is younger but the actor who was Ferris' friend in FBDO (forget his actual name seriously) looks SO different in Spin City.

  • LMAO @ ROBERT DOWNEY JR. FACE @4:13

  • I cried the day he died, I was so upset the whole day at school and no one understood. I guess not many 12 year olds understand how utterly wonderful John Hughes was.

  • Dear lord, his son on the right looks just like him.

  • where's andrew and emilio

  • @94Tka think you mean alec baldwin

  • I WISH IF SOMEONE MAKE A BRAT PAKC MOVIE AS A COMEBACK FOR THE GROUP AND HAVE JUDD,ROB,ANDY EMILIO,TONY,DEMI,ALLY,MOLLYIN IT I WISH IT HAPPEN SOME DAY

  • Duckie!

  • ...she looks pained. I love her outfit, but she looks pained.

    ~*B*~

  • MACUALY CULKIN!!

  • Where's Mason Gamble? He was from DENNIS THE MENACE.

  • "Judd Nelson was fucking harsh!"

    - Jay

  • Fuck I cried. John Hughes, wherever you are, thank you. Thank you so much. More than anything, your films helped me realise life should be embraced for every second and not wished away. So much truth and wisdom in every one of your fims.

  • Hit it mr butters!

  • Farewell Mr. John Hughes. you may be gone, but you will never be forgotten!!! R.I.P.

  • I bet you any money Alec Baldwin was looking at his part of the tribute saying, "What the fuck happened to my life?"

  • I wasnt a teen in the 80's but the first time I watched The Breakfast Club in my media class last year i fell in love with that movie and after that i tried and researched every John Hughes movie there is that i could find xD

Pretty in Pink is another fav of mine :)

So many teen movies today dont quite compare up to the par that these movies were.

  • Damn, I know this tribute is about John Hughes (may he RIP) but I cant get over how good looking Robert Downey Jr. was. Sooo handsome.

  • SIMBA

  • why wasn't Andrew McCarthy there???

  • I'm not going to lie, I cried when I watched this. The first time I saw a John Hughes movie was when I was about 7 years old. Sure, I may only be 17 now, but in these ten years that have passed, I've watched the rest of his movies all because of the one I watched when I was 7. It was "Home Alone" which is still, to this day, one of my favourite movies of all time, along with his others, such as "The Breakfast Club", "Weird Science" and more. But really, it's my parents I have to thank. RIP John.

  • i think molly was trying to hold in her emotions

  • Life moves pretty fast. If you dont stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

    BEST QUOTE EVER!

  • Whats at 3:50??

  • @TheMegaWassup the movie is called "She's having my baby"

  • No Andrew McCarthy? :(

  • @nathaliafera12 ik!! i love andrew he's such an amazing actor he should have been there!

  • he's the only one that really understood the teenagers!

  • Thumbs up if you grew up on John Hughes' films

  • John Hughes R.I.P.

    is the best ;)

  • this makes me sad.

  • In my opinion, Ferris Bueller's Day Off was John Hughes' best movie.

  • I hate when YouTube channels don't let us share the video. Big fail #Oscars! You are going against all 21th century ideals.

  • I love you Molly, but you can't read a teleprompter.

  • People may laugh, but John Hughes movies are the most important movies of my life.

  • He's up there with Kubrick

  • Molly has some serious crazy eyes.

  • My cousin is best friends with John Hughes's wife, Nancy. One day, my cousin brought my aunt over to John and Nancy's home, way before he was famous, when they were just dating. My aunt, to this day, says that he was the funniest man she'd ever met. I never got to meet John, but I'll here story's about him for the rest of my life. His legacy will go on forever.

  • WHO IS THE BROWN EYED BOY SMILING AT 4:13-4:15???? AND WHAT MOVIE IS HE FROM???

  • @hightopCINDERELLA that's robert downey jr lol you know him from lots of stuff!

  • @hightopCINDERELLA WOAH! i think its Robert Downey Jr haha

and i think the movie is weird science ??

  • @hightopCINDERELLA is the good robert downey jr and the movie is wierd science

  • @hightopCINDERELLA That, my friend, is Tony Stark aka Iron Man.

  • lawnprinter300 and FOMFilm the movie at the movie at 3:10 is indeed one of John Hughes finest Some Kind Of Wonderful. As much as I like Molly Ringwald it really would have been cool if they could have got Sloan, Mia Sara, back to come out for this tribute with Ferris, Mathew Broderick. I love this tribute though, the dj

  • Broderick has to ruin it with a terrible line at the end LOL

  • Wait he said he based stuff he wrote off his own childhood? So he got left alone at home and was able to fend off two burglars?

  • whats the movie with kevin bacon at 3:51

  • @lawnprinter300 She's Having a Baby

  • @FOMFilm

thanks...and whats the movie at 3:10?

  • @lawnprinter300 Some Kind Of Wonderful?

  • for the longest time i was convinced that jon cryer and matthew broderick were the same person. seeing them both on the same stage is mind blowing

  • @lotzapoppa89 Everyone thought the same thing. They even mension it in 2 1/2 men. Which was funny as hell.

  • @lotzapoppa89 LMAO!!! So true...

  • molly ringwald looks petrified.

  • thnk you john hughes for helping me through my teen years with your movies

  • R.I.P John Hughes! He's a great man.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Home Alone 1-2 (Just Written and Producer) , The Breakfast Club and Some Kind of Wonderful is my favorite.

  • What film was Robert Downey Jr in?

  • @PrettyIrishGirl74 he was in Weird Science

  • And another thing, why were they the only actors that paid tribute. There were many more that was in his films. Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, Kevin Bacon etc...but still I love this tribute.

  • We will miss you John Hughes, your films will forever be with us.

    "Don't You (Forget About Me)"...

    John Candy

    Paul Gleason ("The Breakfast Club")

  • @leytonfan23 Was Gleason the dad or the principal?

  • Don't say he was the worst director. He was a great director, that man gave his heart and soul to his films. Show some respect, he passed away. I was born in '89 and over the years I've heard of John Hughes and some of his films, hell I even watched films that he written and produced and I didn't know that they were his films. My favorite movie is 'Sixteen Candles". Whenever I get a chance my mom and I watch his films together. They may not been something to you but they were great to others.

  • This makes me miss john candy =[

  • ...anyone else think that Molly has crazy eyes when she talks

  • Where's Steve Martin?

  • In many ways this tribute shows how pointless awards are. John Hughes was never nominated for an Oscar, Golden Globe, Bafta, WGA, DGA - in fact nothing. Yet millions of people know his movies.

  • @duckwrangler really?? not even nominated???omg i missed that. jeez then it's all just bull.

  • @duckwrangler estoy de acuerdo con tu opinion, sus comedias eran muy lindas

  • @duckwrangler agree :)

  • @duckwrangler Amen!

  • hey Ferris Is it ur day off lol classic line

  • @YaiBugy coward. He did more than you ever did.

  • @YaiBugy You act as if "coming of age" films is a bad thing! "American Graffiti","Breaking Away", "Summer of '42" were also "coming of age" films. Also, remember the teen films we had before John Hughes? If it weren't for him, we'd have been stuck in "Losin' It", "Porky's" and "Last American Virgin" hell.

  • @YaiBugy He did coming of age movies and teen movies best out of anyone else who tried. No one else did better.

  • what is that movie 1:45?

  • @spartin72 Sixteen Candles.

  • @spartin72

    sixteen candles

  • If only Mason Gamble was there too.

  • The Breakfast Club was pure genius!!!

  • i really wanted to cry!

  • How sweet, Matthew did say "Dankeschoen" at the end. didn't know he can speak some german haha

  • I like what they're trying to do but I don't think this tribute was well done. I think they didn't do a good job with the editing and the actors sounded like they were reading some lines. Anyway, if all of those actors were in my house it would feel like an acid trip. Much respect to Hughes, the only God!

  • John Hughes has proved that you don't need to be an Oscar nominee to mahave made great films...and that was proved AT the Oscars. R.I.P.

  • Anthony Michael Hall of "Weird Science" fame!

  • I'm a guy who rarely cries, but this tribute to John Hughes, the greatest filmmaker of the last 30 years was so touching that I cried.

  • @YaiBugy Then why are you watching this?

  • @YaiBugy he made some bad movies dude but he did some good 1 too

  • this is the best thing! i never forget this NEVER!

  • Hollywood owned by Corporations would never green light a John Hughes script. Now they want fake shallow kids doing lewd things; have to have the stripper bodies and the guys have to be perfect. Hollywood you suck and so do the assholes that run WGM and other record labels who want to keep shelling out shitty slut pop and trash rap music.

  • This was an awesome tribute to John Hughes.

After watching 7 of his movies I am so sad that John is no longer with us because in the future as a Screenplay writer I wanted to have the chance to meet him so that he can teach me how his comedy in his movies is so Laugh-Out-Loud Funny.

    Rest In Peace John Hughes.

  • the greatest director of the world

  • @N3v3rB4ck More so the greatest writer. He wrote the scripts for Ferris Buellers Day off, 16 candles, the breakfest club etc which was much more impressive than his directing.

  • The Charlie Sheen movie was "Ferris Buellers Day Off". He had a small part.

The Alec Balwin movie was "She's Having A Baby" with Kevin Bacon.

  • so very emotional. Hughes-an absolute cinematic legend. amazing..

  • i always think matthew broderick and jon cryer kinda of look alike

  • LOL at 0:14 he ALMOST trips on the step

  • whats the movie with alec baldwin and charlie sheen? please reply!!

  • @lankangem thats kevin bacon... hahaha. its called Shes Having a Baby

  • @lankangem Charlie Sheen had a tiny part in Ferris Bueller's Day Off and Alec Baldwin/Kevin Bacon clip was from She's Having a Baby

  • john hughes is the reason i decided to pursue film making and acting as a career. i'm in love with his work.

  • I just watched Ferris Bueller last night. That movie has aged so well. Besides the soundtrack, you really wouldn't know it was made in the 80's.

  • On a lighter note, Charlie Sheen as Garth Volback makes me laugh.

  • @rishi851

I, myself, love Kubrick's work and to this day he was the best; however, what Hughes created is so sweet, cheering and wonderful that it knows no age.

They are not mindless at all ... if you can't relate to them then you never had good teen time.

  • Pardon my lack of culture, but could anyone tell me what's the song starting at 2:36? Thanks!

  • @EsperGamma The song is "True" by Spandau Ballet

  • 5:03 Is that George Clooney front row and center, too cool to clap?

  • Before I knew who john Hues's name.I remember noticing a pattern in the 80's -90's that made me aware this was the same director...John's reference to The Beatles even if it was to quote John Lennon - he may have done it in every film. Almost sure he uses 60's british invasion music in every film. I predict some of these films will be reference material in the Smithsonian in the future -RIP John Huges.

  • i just heard "if you were here" for the first time in years, and went straight onto the web and re-bought six of his movies. God Bless John Hughes.

  • is that mattew broderick at 4:10 seconds?

  • @deimos20092009 Nop it's John Cusack at 18.

  • Thank God Molly dyed her hair I could not STAND that orange hair thats naturally hers

  • Out of my favorite movies the majority are from John Hughes. And I was born in 1985 no less. A true testament to just how powerful and timeless his work really was. And I know his films will have the same effect on those born in 95 and beyond.

Anyone born in the early/mid 80s will know just how profound Home Alone was to their life. One of the best people to ever grace cinema. Very tough to top.

  • I absolutely love his movies. He really understood what it was like to be a teen in the 80's, especially if you were from the Chicago area. He will live on and I own many of his movies. I was sad he died.

  • Let's not forget that John Hughes was the only director who knew what to do with John Candy - another great man I can't help but cry over from time to time.

  • John Hughes is honestly an inspiration and still to this day speaks to teenagers.

  • His work was outstanding...

  • John Hughes is the greatest comedic director of all time.

  • i cry whenever i watch this

  • who is that at 4:14?

  • @JustBecause44 Is Robert Downey Jr.!!!

  • which TV show is this?

  • Rooney disliked this 20 times

  • This honestly made me cry.

  • @McConB Me too, I'm bawling my eyes out.

  • 20 people never had a youth

  • I saw this movie in the theatre stoned with all of my friends. Those were the days, 13 and carefree, and baked out of our minds!
