That is not true. The only thing they are doing is not charging you for your prescription. You getting a prescription by pushing your doctor is another thing... The doctors still have the responsibility to determinate if a person needs it.
The antibiotic move by Giant Eagle is a very irresponsible move for health care. Free just promotes the risk of overuse of antibiotics when not needed, thus increasing the risk for antibiotic resistance, which is already a problem in our country and the world.
Furthermore, someone may push to have an antibiotic that is free rather than pay for one that may be more expensive but needed for a resistance bug; and this again promotes mutation of bacteria leading to great antibiotic risk problems.
