If that's truly an XT500 he's got some serious guts to ride Dakar on it. I had a '78 XT500 and an '83 XT550 over the years, the suspension on the '78 was horrible for taking sudden hits like hitting whoops or pucker bushes. The '83 XL600R I had after the XT500 was worlds better at soaking stuff up.

i can fall off better lol, infact saying that i did last week off-road whoops :D, doing 50mph all these giant potholes so i slowed down to 40mph my mate on other biked stopped next to the bridge on the river,so i slowed down bit more got to 30mph and got caught out by yet another pot hole and bang i was off and just slid. i missed the river by about 3 meters whoops. :P
