  • Just a brief correctionwolves are not scavengersthey are predators on top of the food chain. Their presence is vital in any ecosystem, for they keep animals they prey on healthy and balanced. Instead of using colorful metaphors...feed your mind by reading about research on wolf impact in places like Yellowstone, or how they could be the missing link in prairie restoration.

  • You leaf lickers can suck a fat one, he has every right to follow a wolf if he wants to. Oh, the poor wolf might have to take an extra step to get away from the terrible human, give me a break. They are just scavengers, they will make it as long as there is food. Next time chase that son of a bitch 'til he can't run anymore.

  • The wolf went back to his pack and told the other members, "I just had the most scariest experience down at the trail. I just saw people with cameras running after me."

  • beginning was like a deleted scene from BLAIR WITCH PROJECT. Edit the video to the shots with the Wolf, we would appreciate it.

  • The video is "somewhat crappy"? I almost puked halfway through! You got some good shots, and I certainly understand your excitement at seeing a wolf for the first time; in the future, however, please resist the urge to chase after the wildlife - this only results in nauseating your audience and further compromising the coexistence of humans & animals on the island.

  • thats extremely rate considering there are only about 20 some wolves on that island

  • Like hey man, dont mess w/ that wolf's world man, you just caused him great stress and anguish, unreal. How the hell did a Wolf deal w/ early frontier encounters or even that by Indians.

They do just fine on the Keweenaw, perhaps even to good and they have a much closer relationship w/ people.

  • ive been to IRNP

  • nice vid. Wolves can suck a big one. They are eating all the deer in the U.P.

  • I commend you on the great Wolf encounter. It is a gift to us all. You did nothing wrong. I was there when I was 15. I'm returning this year at 53. The Wolves don't remember you or care. It changed nothing. Remember they are chased by airplanes all winter locating kills. I suggest you others be light with your comments and enjoy a view of the wolves you will never have. Peace

  • I totally disagree with your comments. There's a big difference between a wolf seeing an airplane fly overhead in the dead of winter and two-legged humans chasing after them with a video camera. Wolf-human encounters have gone up on the island over the past few years--it's behavior like this that will continue to push the numbers. If it continues, someone is going to get hurt or a wolf is going to be needlessly killed because they 'got too close' to a hiker.

  • I think your behavior in this situation is deplorable. Isle royale is for those who love and respect nature. I consider it a privilege to camp there. If you choose to stupidly harrass wildlife why don't you go to Yellowstone or Custer SD with all the other morons.

  • I can understand your excitement at capturing a wolf on video and film, but I'd hate to think that you've helped that very wolf lose just a little bit more of his fear of man, when I plan to hike and camp solo on the island this coming summer. They get enough bad rap without humans encouraging them to feel more comfortable about human-wolf interaction.

  • Seems to me that you should have just been happy with just seeing a wolf in the wild, rather than stalking it with a camera and disturbing it. Visitor behavior like this is what causes places to become off-limits to everyone, which is really unfair to people who respect wildlife. I totally understand the excitement, but it is irresponsible to follow the wolf, change it's path or behaviors or whistle to it to get it's attention. Observe, but don't interact.

  • Be proud of the way you harrassed the wolf. The video would have been better if he turned on you. You aren't any smarter than the fools at Yellowstone who want that awesome grizzly shot.

  • A little hard to deal with the "Blair Witch Project" shakiness, but the five or six quality, still captures of the wolves are amazing. Thanks.

  • Incredible video. Although, given the current behavior of the wolves on Isle Royale, I'm not sure stalking it was the smartest thing to do. I spoke at length with Rolf Petersen during my 8 day solo last year and he mentioned numerous wolf/hiker encounters--he had a very real fear that one could turn "violent". Always yell and scare them away! They don't need to become 'comfortable' with us. Great video, nonetheless!

  • I want to stress that I totally disagree with your methods of getting this incredible video. Get the first shot and then leave the wolf alone!!! It's hikers like yourself that are destroying the wolves fear of man (and woman!). Respect wildlife---from a distance. What were you thinking?!?!?!?
