@SugarBean915 I'm a fan of the Beatles and Lennon, so I did not know what to expect from the cover of Bowie, I thought that sounded like the Beatles ... I repeat, I really liked the cover of Elton John, because it is delicate, as the words of the text, but this ... is how to sing the song of the Beatles - Michelle, Metallica ... The words and rhythm do not blend ... however is always nice to know the opinion of other people ... =) But I have no objection to Metallica ... not my kind of music ...
I do not like this song ... Bowie tries to do the hard, singing a sweet song with a beautiful meaning ... not so with Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, madelater by singing Elton John ... Him, although he changed the rhythm, the song remains the one, and is also wonderful ... I thought it was the same with Across The Universe ... I was wrong ... However, I expressed my opinion, no I do not contest your opinion ... =) Bye
@Ragazzabrivido It does sound a bit like Bowie is trying too hard, but that is just the way he sings. It's his typical sound, I like it, but others who are expecting the Lennon sound may think differently :D
To me this song just doesn't fit Bowie...he is trying way to hard. This is a kind of meditation and Bowie is making it a proclamation! Maybe I just like the spirit of Johns version too much but to this was a do over..
Bowie has a great carrer but I´m sorry this is the worst cover of the Beatles, I prefeer thousand of times the Scorpions´ version

Lennon not only contributed guitar and vocals, but said later that he much preferred this version to his own.

I think John Lennon was part of this version (along with "Fame")

I think Bowie's version is better than the Beatle's version. It has more soul and personality.

Its crazy how versatile how Bowies voice is. Compare this with space oddity.

For years I thought the line was "Birds are flying out like endless rain into a paper cup." The real line makes a lot more sense.

Oh my God, Bowie is definitely the King Midas: everything he touches turns to gold.

Huge Bowiefan, but I think this disrupts the soul vibe on Young Americans.

I'm still trying to figure out if I like this version or The Beatles' version (the Wildlife version, not Phil Spector's version).
