im not taking anyones side here but it has got some stickers on the rear-window and one saying sips - (volvos s ide i mpact p rotection s ystem) and that makes it a 940 or 740 if they replaced it which is unlikely
well i can say what kind of car it is its a early version of 945 gl ...i have ownd 2 volvo 745 and i can say that my 88 or 91 didnt have those handles
I wonder, how you can tell... There is only one visual difference between 740 and 940, on which you can judge which model it is, and that's the dashboard visible in seconds 10 to 12. The back of the car is virtually the same. The 740 has rectangular dash and 940 has a trapeze dash.
To be honest, I owned, 740, I own 940 and I have seen all the versions that were made... and I won't make a bet, which one is this particular car :-) For me it's just "more propable" that this is a 740.
Well no, the frontend is completely different. But I spotted it on the handle for the trunk... or whatever you wanna call it on an estate. Those type of handles wasnt produced until the 95 models. And by then they had changed name to 940 :)
I meant it is almost the same from the angles, that are visible...
740 was discontinued in 1991, but on the latest versions they used many parts from 940, including that handle (I personaly saw that on the swedish 740).
Lets say, that's almost impossible to say, which version it is... :-)
@gutbayer lol, the last Volvo 740 was produced in '92, when the first 940 was introduced the same year. get your facts straigth :) and the differences between a 740 Estate, and a 940 Estate is huge! different headlights, longer hood, after all a longer front end. the rear end is quite the same as the 740 :)

It is a 940.
the 740 -90 has a different dashboard. 740 91-92 has the same dasboard as 940. (In Sweden - There is some different between USA modells etc.)

Also says SIPS Side Impact Protection System on the tailgate glass, so definitely a 940 (or 740 w/o original tailgate ;)
