  • Rust zacht, Andrew

  • R.I.P Andrew :-((

  • R.I.P Andrew Gold.

  • Gracias por la música que nos dejaron, muchas gracias Amen.

  • Comparto tu comentario (HKLINKER), ademas los 80 estuvo lleno de músicos de verdad.

  • Their disrespect for the pretense of 'live' is really nice. Andrew Gold especially - he stops playing the keyboard, backs away from the mic, and as mentioned, doesn't finish the sax solo.

The difference of course is that these guys are real musicians. Andrew Gold was a session guitar player long before he became a pop star.

  • CUANTO HACE QUE QUERÍA SABER QUIEN CANTABA ESTE TEMA TAN ESPECTACULAR, CUANTOS RECUERDOS DE UNA HERMOSA ÉPOCA.

  • Nice !!! Remember this track !

  • whats the man with the beard called

  • @ruthroses1 Andrew Gold...

  • ummmm....Definately one of the world worst mimed songs, with an exception to Neil's "Hole In My Shoe."

Great song tho. Haven't heard it for years and I still like it.

  • The song is definitely one of the best '80s I remember!!!

  • andrew gold was a genius !!!!

  • 1987 was probably best year of my childhood, i get emotional thinking about the 80s as Id love to go back somehow and relive then

  • id go back 2 morrow to mate. great times

  • big bass lines

  • I love the way he gives up on the mimed saxophone half way through!

  • @Ligerpride And doesn't play the synth for most of the track. :P

  • To be honest in the 60's and 70's few bands mimed on TOTP, it was only the 80's that produced that.. lol.. if it was rubbish in the 90's when they didn't mime, then that must say something about the artists themselves don't you think!!

  • Absolutely, it really showed them up! Nowadays, with a possible resurgence in live performance, they might change. However, you do seem to get out of tune voices adjusted to sound like they're in tune. If that could be done in real time, it'd be quite depressing in a way.

  • TOTP was always mimed up until a cock-up in 1988 when a problem with the sound led to the artists sitting about and chatting while their music, unknown to them, played to the TV audience. Everyone knew and accepted that it was mimed. It went through a phase when it wasn't in the early '90s, and it was rubbish.

  • Great song !

  • I remember the song quite well because it was used during the 'Night Network' continuity on ITV.

  • Yes it was...thanks for reminding me, amigo.

  • Yeah I don't think I slept at weekends in 1987 - Fri Sat and Sun was Night Network.....Roland Rivron getting pissed in the bunker and Pat & Mick 'nobbing off' the latest pop videos.....ah the memories

  • @simes2024 for real i was a tim westwood fan myself @ this time i was just getting into hip hop, Loving n-sign radio

  • This was my childhood!!!

  • best wax song

  • love this track - thanks for posting it :)

  • Круто!!!!!

  • It is a "mimed" performance. This is the exact track on the WAX CD. LOL! I still like it.

  • geht so

  • I don't give a damn about playback. The fact is that this song is GREAT!

  • How can you tell they're miming ? The keyboard player hardly touches the keyboard for the second half of the song ! Great track tho. It just makes me feel great, really positive effect.

  • Oh, sorry, GREAT song too from 2 guys who've NEVER mimed when on tour. Thanks for the post!

  • @tyrant1505 they defo still look like a pair of aids riddled faggots whov had their back doors sailed by purple akie!!good tune though

  • @therealbeav

i was there back then, and picked up some whore who turned out to be your mother,

    so i'm your father luke.

  • @3DPeter do you not agree gold looks clinically ill and look now, he's brown bread. i knew he had aids to the core. i love wax.

    jedi

  • @therealbeav i don't know, because i never knew him that good. i also never knew that these guys were members of 10cc.

  • Yep, most mimed and personally, for TOTP, I don't give a hoot. What I DO give a HOOT about is ANY band that turns up in front of the loving fans on tour who've paid damn good money to see a live show....then mime!!!! There's tons of plastic crap out there that do it as well, Britney "friggin" Spears for one and Kylie "the foal" Minogue, unforgiveable IMO!

  • Yeah, that was the one. Steve Morris was playing a synth and pushed the wrong button or something, pissed himself and Barney spent the next verse trying to keep it together.

  • andrew gold looks like he may be dying of aids during this. also its a cardinal sin to mime on TOP OF THE POPS. fucking victim. good song though!

  • How can you tell he's miming? You must have amazing powers of deduction.

  • i can tell he's miming cos his mouth is moving away from the mic, which if your not miming would badly effect the way in which it sounds! so fuck you you cheese dick

  • it was all mimed, you had no option if you wanted to go on.

  • you had to mime when you played on TOTP during that period. They had no choice.

  • Too right... As far as I remember, New Order were the only band that didn't mime.....

  • is that 'blue monday' with barney sumner trying not to crack up lol

  • great song

  • brilliant song takes me right back to the 80's

  • Simply great !!

    80's Always in my heart.

  • This song is absolutely brilliant. I should have bought the single when I had the chance. And I was hoping this would be a US top 40 hit, but as far I know they only had one Hot 100 entry back in 1986 called "Right Between The Eyes" and it peaked at #43.

  • 80's classic....take's me right back there !

  • duh...i mean take it for granted!

  • thanks Garyco3....amazing how much we take advantage of music in our busy, crazy lives!!

  • ★★★★★ AWESOME

  • graham playing a goodfellow bass i think

  • don't they make pizzas

  • Yup. An original Bernie Goodfellow.

  • "Whats wrong with this picture" by Andrew Gold is a "must have" album. So talented!

  • Marvellous

  • Being a kid in '87 i had no idea about the duo's musical cv's. I always thought the people who sang this were much younger.

  • Awesome bit of 80s nostalgia. They don't make 'em like this anymore - thanks for posting!

  • i love this song. Thnaks.

  • This is a great song from 2 top performers, interesting to check both their musical pasts and what theyre doing now.
