He Wood Rocky Mountain Wood by DSquared Cologne/Fragrance Review (2009)

Excellent Review. Spot on in comparing the two. The guy at the shop first sprayed He Wood, wasn't very impressed. Then sprayed He Wood Rocky Mountain and was like "Fuck, this is the sh!t" Dunno why, tested many fragrances at those shops, this might be the only one that stuck in my mind.

I got it today, i gotta say i was disappointed. I put one spray on my neck and it was rather cloying. I get the wood but only in the background, I get a lot of sweetness. One thing I noticed, my bottle is a little different from marc's. The glass and the wood isn't solid it wiggles and instead of a large Rocky mountain wood on the side I get a bunch of extra carving describing the cologne. It was a tester bottle i got from Fragrancenet,com for 40 shipped.

I'm worried The Gucci is a little too mature and literal...so I'm opting for this...but I just don't want it to be too amateur. I fucking hate violets...but I love Lilies, Incense and Cedarwood. ADOR musk, amber and woodsy notes. If this has too much violet, imma kill you.

HOLY LORD, I just got a whiff of this at Sephora this afternoon and ...this scent transports you, exactly as Marc says, the the wilderness with a sweet breeze and the smell of trees and moist air around you as the sun sets. It is BEAUTIFUL without a doubt, ordered a 3.4 oz immediately. Jaw-dropping, I mean it.

It was so delicious but he said they only carried it at Bloomingdales. BUT today I saw it at Sephora. You know, your girflfriend's makeup store. i smelled this at sephora and it really reminded me of the rockies in colorado. I bought a 3.4oz bottle on ebay for $45. Just search "rocky mountain wood" and arrange results from lowest to highest, price wise, and "buy it now" results. Make sure the page says 100% authenticity guaranteed, you cant go wrong with ebay

rock y mountain wood totally smashes Gucci pour homme , awesome sillage and longevity. Actually though it is suppose to conjure up images of Canadian Rockies , it has a very strong Vetiver and incense notes through out which you find in Arab or Indian attars

I own this bottle now and it was a tough choice between the original HeWood and Rocky Mountain, because I think they are quite similar. As you said, the original is more floral, you get more of the violet note and it is a bit more fresh. Like you, I wanted more wood in the fragrance so therefore I chose Rocky Mountain. However I do think the original HeWood has little bit better projection and longevity.

Sounds like I have to try this. Whenever a frag desk clerk tries to get me to sample this and says it's "Canadian", I always say no and think, "My country is getting in to perfumes now... this has to be a travesty." But hey, if you say it's great then I'll def try it!

I did some research and apparantly there is a new flanker that just came out called "He WOOD Ocean Wet Wood". I know you're not big on aquatics, but hey it's a heads-up.

@robes08 Fall for me out here in Sacramento CA you get a pounding hot sun all summer. When that rain hit's that asphalt it's like having that in a bottle. Not saying that it smells like that, its just what is brought to mind. I enjoyed this scent today. Maybe also a foggy old growth forest on the coast. Great smell!!!
