  • The way i suggest u shoud try is using the samll grid to help make the tracks. that way each sahpe is exact and the gap inbetween is perfect everytime and soo small, that you get no shaking at all, Pleas watch my tank creating video. U might not, however i find it a much quicker.

  • Ive tried for a while to make a tank with suspension and it dosent work at all. Even if the suspension is stiff it bends when the tank drives and gets crushed by the rear driving wheel.

    am i doing something wrong?

  • Hmm i recognise your name, i just can't remember who you are.

  • Help me RZ22G, can you make a tutorial of how your tank spawns. you just press the button and the last tank dissapears and a new fresh one apears. i tried every thing but it won't work. plzz help and reply. BTY nice tank levels

  • @PAPERofROCK .. Sorry about taking SOOOOO long to reply. I have been doing other things. I think I put my level as copy free a while back so you should be able to copy it and see how its done. Its basically a track way above with a trolley that has emitters. It emits an invisible box with the tank inside suspended from floaty material.. so it drops in slow. The box and floaty material are set to only last a few seconds so thats why the tank falls in kinds of slow.. then suddenly drops.

  • THANKYOU!!!!!

  • you could have done grids to make the distance of of the thingies equal

  • If you watch the vid with your eyes closed...

    It sounds soooo wrong.

  • when you came out at :58 i was like holy shit! then i realized it was your arm XD

  • Comment removed

  • hey rz22g im a alright tank builder all my friends say im good but i need an expert opinion. i've made two no three yeah three tanks, i havent published them yet though so could you pop round to have a gander i would be greatfull thanks yours trully...

    monster2cakes. psn ID : mr_milk_carton

    oh and thanks :)

  • You should use the grid

  • awsome tut

  • XD you sound like dennis anderson lol o & thank you so much ive been trying 2 make 1 4 like a few weeks

  • this helped me alot thanks

  • @Akimbogunner77 My friend said it was. He said he promised it was but no it isnt. He is a dick head. He only cares bout PS3 games and nothin else.

  • at 4:17 when u havin difficulty adding them together shoulda paused it

  • How do you copy?

  • Nice tutorial I'll try that now! But I have a tip for making the treads. If you want to be a bit more precise use small grid. Overall great tutorial thanks!

  • love the accent!!! dude

  • I can't wait for part two. I finally found a video that explains the treads. Thank you sir, you have been a tremendous help. 5 Stars for you.

  • Your TV big as HELL!!!

  • o.O You have xbox360?? Metoo ima bout to get this game and i'll need some help building. Im sure i got the body down but the tracks will be hard. When i get the game i'll send you a friend request or u can or whatever u want to do. If thats fine with you the pst me back and i'll feed you the name of my sackman.

  • @XDStringmanXD is lbp out for xbox

  • I want this game but own an xbox360 :(

  • cool down guys i think that he used a beamer...if not....holy shit i want this TV :D

  • Good tutorial

  • @moderndaydelilah93 Try using a more dense material ie. from cardboard to wood/steel

Also are you sure they arn;t glued to anything?

  • when i built my tank (its just v1 at the moment) i built it around the treads

  • mine squeaks non stop and when i set the tank down it act as if its sitting on a spring and goes up and down do u know wat im dong wrong?

  • @jdmajs its hard to say without having watched you make them. You may have the treads pulled to tight. There needs to be some slack. Bounce can also come from what type material you use on the tank wheels and body. Try different materials but loosen up the treads first to see if that fixes it.

  • @jdmajs its actualy because of the matireal the treads are made of. Iknow its retarded but metal and stuff will bounce with certain loads

  • Opps srry about posting so much. I never commented on youtube before.

  • Do you still help people with their tanks? My treads seem to break all of the time and when I lossen them then the tank doesn't move.

  • i was making these long before i saw this video and they were ok, after seeing your tank and how well your tank works i thought i was doing something wrong, but i wasn't...i guess im just cursed with tank treads : /

  • man it woulda been a breeze if u used the grids instead of no grids to align the peices right

  • use small grid -.- i can see u not pro...

  • Awesome! Thank you!

  • nice vid thx

been wondering how to do this

  • copy and paste

    2. send this to 2 other videos.

    3. hold your breath for 10 seconds.

    4. press refresh twice.

    3. LOOK AT YOUR HAND 3 hours ago

  • can you help me to make the treads (add me overlordflame)

  • thank you

  • Whats your PSN name

  • agregame my nick es efrainfusion

  • i use grid its easier

  • great tutorial it helped me out a lot

  • nice rz22g ill add u on psn let create some tanks together k cya thx for this Tuturial its good

  • I know ur like the best tank builder and everything but your going the hard way for almost everything but it is a very helpfull tutorial i have another way of making treads but your treads come out nicer and are way better

  • when you put the second part behind its smar to just place 2 bolts on the front than you put thembehind eachother the only thing you then have to do is grap the piece and press X again so it wil screw the bolt onto the other secion , this way is ten times faster, you're the best tank builder I just had this to say.

  • hey can u ask howitzer to make to try to make the very first tank invented plz

  • @nunchuck19 Uh, The British mark 1 but I guess thats technically an APC. The first true tank is the FT-17 Renault, I think. And I already made that (PSN: agrx-legends)

As for horwitzer, working on a T-34 tank right now on his new account PurleyWisdom

  • ugh lemon. Deleted me for no reason. dont add him.

  • Could you make a tutorial on how to get the top part(where the switches and buttons are) of the tank mounted onto the treads? I always try to hold it up with rods, but that always fails. Anyways, awesome tutorial!

  • doh that's where i've been going wrong i make the caterpillar things or treads whatever they're called too big this vid is totaly worth the time i waste on my comp cheers

  • this tutorial is perfect, i made a tank that shoots paintballs and bombs, but i couldnt get the treads to work

  • how much weight can it hold?

  • i played the new level u can only get on goty edition

  • Saw ur rank on call of duty 6 it's very impresive lol

  • Saw ur rank on call of duty6 it's very impressive lol

  • heyy rz22g! i have envied your tanks treads secrets since i bought the game, i am hopefully starting work on a war themed level soon, i will be 100% sure how to do the treads now! thank you so much! anyone want to add me on the ps3? its me, lemon_and_gravy! woop woop

  • @LEMONandGRAVY i love all your lvls on lbp, want more hospital bomb survival. soooooooooooo fun!

  • omg its lemon and gravy you are my mentor pls add me im billionfold764 on psn

  • can you add me im a really good creator of lbp so we can make stuff in lbp PSN...cangry48

  • Your TV is BIGGGG!!!!!

  • Visit my APC level, I need something to make it better more exciting, etc.

  • rz, i need your help please. ok so how can i make those pistons that only goes in 1 direction and stays there (they say using a permanent magnetic key switch) like those "walls" in levels that require you to go near so they will open and stay open the rest of the level (1 shot sensors i presume) help?

  • Send me a friends request on PSN and I can jump in create mode with you if you want. Its basically a piston with a button hooked to it set to direction. I emit something onto the button and it activates the piston.

  • ok ill add u but i already get how to do a 1 shot piston. thanks :D

  • It helped me very much in some parts of the video. But it is very tricky to build.

  • awesome vid... thanks a lot

  • At 0:53, I just went "Oh my god is that his arm?" Dude your TV is MASSIVE!

  • @TacoHawk76 its probably a projector but still DAMN

  • Thanks rz22g I've been trying to make a tank for weeks but I couldn't get the chain right so I gave up. Anyway I don't know how you came up with it but your a genius.

  • I found that the treads, like the ones that u are making, cant support much weight. they break all the time. (I am doing the double bold config like in this video.) Am i doing something wrong?

  • Try using single bolt. Make one piece on front plane, second piece staggered on plane behind that and glue those together. Copy that piece then bolt as many of those together that is needed to make your tread.

The bolt is a weak point on any tread design. Sharp edges and excessive weight will break any tread. I have not seen any tread that is indestructible. Also alot of people use single bolt but keep in mind that means more moving joints, more weak points and more stress on the system.

  • I did try the single bolt design, and it did work better. But are they're any other tread designs u know of that are very stable?

  • I have no issues with my current design. Unlike a lot of tanks and levels out there, mine actually climbs over debris and rough terrain. Sharp edges can snap a bolt joint on any tread design. I think any improvement in treads design is going to have to come from the developers end by way of better physics.

  • My problem is that the tanks structure has to be very light. Wood is too heavy even. I wanted to put thin metal plates over the cardboard, but even that was to heavy for it too just go in a straight line. I feel like Im making them wrong. Ill post a video soon to show you.

  • @rz22g are playing in the movie theatre screen?

  • yo u prolly saw my video wit my tank with treads which was the 1st ever on lbp, anyway i think i roped mine together with pulleys lol or somethin it worked tho..

  • this is awsome!

but i have a prob... when or how do you unlock the bolts and others things in that bag?

do you have to do the game's story?

  • i have a question, why cant you grab the ends of the treads? instead of using other shapes to push and pull and hold?

  • Once connected the editing software sees the assembly as one. When you select one piece, all of it is selected and frozen.

  • darn i had a feeling you were gonna say that. it seems so annoying and hard that way. theres no easier way? Im getting the game dec 10 and im just learning things so once i get it, i can get ready to strt making levels.

  • Someone else suggested this but I have not tried. Suspend the treads over the wheels then connect a rod to each end. Then adjust the length of the rod to pull the treads together. Once together you can fine tune the alignment, remove the rod and then bolt the ends together. Sounds like it should work.

  • wow that sounds like it could work, or maybe not a rod, but a rope?

  • @rz22g It's actually much easier to put in that tricky "master link" if you arrange the treads into a square while making them... of course using the small grid.

  • also what do you mean by frozen?

  • It selects the whole assembly and will not let it hang freely. For example you cant select the end piece and lift from that point while the rest hangs and swings. It will all remain in the shape it was in when you selected it.

  • You're a awesome teacher, i'ma try this technique right now!

  • you never did get the tutorial for building the rest of the tank up.

  • Im waiting for my HD vid camera. Plus I have to figure out the best way so the video is not an hour long.

  • H4H:ers H4H do it cause they cant make good lvls an r trophy hunters

  • i only need the hearting trophies and i gt the platinum so H4H all add jester8576 and write in the message lbp H4H

    Ty all

  • @Ollie3496 If you have gotten them legitimately (not to be mean) you probably don't deserve it .hearts are meant to be earned. I'm glad they are getting rid of the heart system altogether in lbp 2

  • great tutorial...thanks! =D

  • oh yea and i was wondering how to make the motorbolt go to the center mine is always off and it breaks the tracks any tips?

  • well in the psp version forst i click the wheel with pointer it automatically goes center then i press back and moterbolt it still in center and their u go bbut this is for psp i never played ps3 one

  • i made a tank with one layer and it worked but when i ran into the wall it broke so i did undo and it kept breaking this is more complicated but much better

  • how big is that screen O_O

  • @darrends3390 it might be a projector, i have one and its amazing on MW2 & Modnation

  • Nice tut thanks.

  • when i make my treads something wierd happens, the treads kinda stick to the 2 main wheels and then they break can some one help me or tell me any tips.

  • You H4H:ers H4H becouse you just cant do good levels and all whats in your mind is trophies!

  • thnx for tut !

  • heart for heart

my psn : Pwnstar_Qc heart me and my 5 lvls and i heart u and ur levels send me a message as soon as you hearted and i will do it back ASAP

  • Or maybe a main layer and a thin layer?

  • Yes you can use one thin and one regular but the only reason would be to make a single layer tank, which I have never seen a single layer tank, or tank with a single layer tread that I liked much. A 2 layer body with 1 layer tread is an idea but you have to watch level design even more.

  • thanks.

  • There any way to do this using only one layer?

  • can someone check out my tank level thats caled to rz22g or go to my youtube chanel plz

  • Good tutorials, but I have to say that you have quite a strong accent.

  • i hope we can make stuff like this in the psp version

  • wow an 61 inch, and i thought my TV was big T_T

  • Comment removed

  • im planing on building my treads last on my vehicle. is this a good idea? if so how?

  • Not sure if you'll listen to this, seeing as it's from a random guy on Youtube, but I would make the treads first, because it can be a real pain making the treads fit on the tank.

I've made three tanks, and the one thing I've learned is to make the treads first. =P

Once I figure out my recording device I'll try making a tank tutorial...

  • I alway's build my tank first. then "wrap" the treads around. What you have to do is 1) lay the treads out in a long line. 2) place the tank on top of treads, and make part of it dark matter so it won't move, 3) attach some dark matter to 1 end of treads. 4) go to the other end and make a dark matter square/circle. use a "connector" such as (rod/string) to connect dark matter to this end. now you can drag the two ends together Around the tank. remove excess links and maneuver ends together.bolt

  • thank alot man i had troubles doing the treads thanks again

  • yay tyvm fo the guide, i tried to make treads earlier today using rope and blocks of wood but then the thing would just sit there and bounce around and slide for some reason

  • wooo thats ome huge screen but nice tuto!

  • Well done! By far the best lbp tutorials! Thanks a lot man!

  • Jesus, how big is your tv??

  • He might have a projection screen and if he doesnt that is an awesome TV

  • Nah, it's not a projection screen otherwise the screen would project on him too, he's got a huge fucking T.V.! :O

  • no it wouldn't you retard. lmfao your so stupid its not funny.

  • Dude, whats your problem? You don't think a projection screen would appear on you too? The only idiot here is you my friend.

  • thats the best vid iv'e seen that helps!!!

  • thanks for the totorial i used it and it worked great

  • At 7:50, what if you're happy with the size of you're wheels and dont want to change the size of them, but do want to tighten the tread? Is there a different way to make tread without using bolts?

  • Im sure there are several ways to tighten the treads. I put the whole assembly in the air, selected one wheel so it would stay in the air, unbolt the other wheel and then move it outward, stretching the tread, then bolt it back into place. Helps to change the wheel your moving to something heavy like stone first.

  • great tutorial but when in the game do you get those wheels

  • You make them.

  • oh i see u put a wheel and cut the parts out where u needed them

  • lol he pulled off an art attack

"when youre done it should look something like this"

  • nice dude ive been wondering how to do this great video 5*

  • Hey man, use the grid to move objects in a straight line.

Plus... Could you tell me how to get the bolts to rotate freely?

  • Nice tutorial

  • Set the grab for each piston to DIRECTION.

  • If that question is for me you need to be more specific... which piston or part of the tank?

  • i have reason to get the ps3 now

  • Funny you say that. LBP is the most played game on my PS3. I have others that I play.. Grid.. Dirt.. GTA4 but LBP gets the biggest play. Other than that its playing a bluray movie.

  • dude.... how big is ur t.v? or how small

     are you?

  • haha... Im 3' 4" tall or my TV is 61"

  • Holy shit O:

  • wtf man, don't u know how to use a grid? You can do this a lot easier that way! U can use a medium grid for the treads and a small grid for the bolts.

  • I dont like using the grid. For one I like the visible gap as opposed to ends touching. I have also made the exact same tread I have on my current tank using the grid and it was less reliable than my manually made design. So other than saving a few seconds I saw nothing it offered that made it better.

  • well, you are really good at making treads either way so whatever works best for you

  • Thanks for the advice, I made my own tank and test level check it out if you can PSN: 'Mooshuman', I gave a thanks to you in my description, if theres anything you can think of to make it better please tell me. and thanks for the advice again!

  • it always breaks for me

  • its much easyer to make the segments using the small grid

  • wicked

  • add me naseer1992

  • same one help me Tutorial level

  • Thanks! This has really helped.

  • great tut, ill go try it out in a minuite, but how do you copy/paste?

  • when you have an object selected, press l3

  • oh why save while you have infeninte bolts?

  • you dont glue the treads you bolt all of thos (==) pieces

  • do it in play mode so it's easier too.

also after you draw the treads together you can use one more rod to align the two tread pieces perfectly together for bolting. then remove em

sorry for spamming up your video man. ;)

  • here's a quick tip I've learned through trial and error.

After you lay the treads over the wheels all you gotta do is take a "rod" and connect it to each side of the tread.

Now decrease the rod's length in small increments until the trade is together. Then just bolt up the tread and delete the rod. :)

  • *tread* damn typo. lol

  • That is an awesome idea. I plan on updating my video soon and will use that and credit you.

  • thanks bro, I'm glad you found it useful!

btw my psn id is JimboSlice666, add me up if you want. :)

  • excellent video. very useful and very appreciated.

  • would rubber treads still work?

  • that is a big TV. Thanks for the vid.

  • You have a big TV Dude!

    look at 0:54

  • alrigh now i know like Everything BUT not how to savwe items you created O.o so ??ANYONE ?

  • go into the items menu and at the very top there is a sort of camera icon. click on that and move and reshape the box to fit in the thing you want to save

  • Your accent is great.

    Your telly is huge.

And your vids are very helpful.

    Full marks rz22g
