  • The swagger.....the breathing.....the way he played....., hell, Just the way he was,........

will never be another like him......I've heard the wannabee's ....and no one will ever duplicate this guy.

  • Junior's on piano....This was a pickup group.....No rehersals......they just wailed it.

  • Now that's style man. Dexter lives in me.

  • man.......this guy was so smooth......it's scary.......he walks through the changes here likr theur not evem there Wooof

  • 4 minutes 20 seconds of some of the greatset tenor playing ever captured on film. Watch this closely......watch Dex' Body langauge.....See him figure where to next.....four choruses of tenor genius.......once in a liftime solo......(though Dex had many of them) just when you think he's done......he takes it to the next level. the drummer is my long late pal Oliver Jackson.....who was a teacher .....and a great friend.

  • Dammit.......this is LTD at his best . Great film here .... anyone who ever saw him live ......will apreciate this..... Damn the rst of ya.

  • @Docnolan1953 you're so right...... playing with him was even better.....like walking with a god.

  • Very inspiring. Makes me want to get a new reed. Where are the young lion tenor players? Most of the new young 20-30 yr olds sound like 95 years old with emphysema.

  • Dexter is a monster, I like the subtle blues riffs too

  • Impossível não gostar. Dexter Gordon músico espetacular.

  • dex at his best

  • Dexter Gordon Quartet, "Fried Bananas", with Junior Mance (piano) Martin Rivera (bass) Oliver Jackson (drums). Montreux , July 1970.

It´s the first take on the live cd by Prestige.

Enjoy ! and Long Live Dex !!

  • who's the drummer?

  • I love Sonny and Trane but there was something unique about Dexter. Can't explain it but he was THE MAN.

  • Master,master,master...

  • Dexter in fine fettle here.

  • I'm playing this song with my band now and it is so fun to play. especially to solo on. One of my favorite songs ever. Great vid!

  • "Fried Bananas" is based on the chord changes to "It Could Happen to You".
