90% of the time, they chain dogs up because they don't want the dogs ruining their furniture or dirtying up their house. Most people think because of dogs fur coats they won't get too cold in the winter. Wrong. A dogs fur is like human clothes. We can still get cold and numb even if we do have clothes on. And what about in the summer? A dog can die if it gets hydrated or overheated. So I think it is reasonable to have a law that states dogs are only allowed out for a hour or so on a chain

Why should it be illegal to chain dogs up?

Some people need to tie them up or their dogs will run amok, endangering themselves and possibly others.

Chaining up a dog for a few hours is not a big deal, I can't see how anyone would find this cruel.

Although tying a dog up for days/months is too damn long. The point is to be a RESPONSIBLE pet owner.

@NFT2: Leaving dogs outside for a few hours also annoys the neighbors if the dog barks a lot. The least people could do is let the dog have a COMFORTABLE shed or shelter they can go in if it gets too cold with food and water. Some people don't even do that.

Everyone has their cause that they help with. I don't dislike humans, I don't wish them harm. I give food to homeless people when I see them and when I have something to give them. I am not blind to the troubles of humans.

Most people do nothing for anyone-at least I am doing something for a living being who is mistreated. Why should you discriminate against me for helping dogs?

Dog which is kenneled in the average 6x12 foot kennel: 72 square feet

Dog which is tethered on a 15 foot tether: 700+ square feet

Dog which is tethered on a 20 foot tether: 1256 square feet

Which do you think a dog would consider "cruel"?
