I think Merle is one of just a few country artists staying true to tradition. His new original songs are always faithful to what traditional country music should be.Modern and traditional at the same time!
her Mom is smiling,..because she would be PROUD,..Its HARD for a Father, to bring up a Child,..alone,...,...evry Mother, on the Earth has had to do it,....but very few Father's,...I have nothing to brag about,...just did,..what I was Supposed to Do,..
Its hard to pick a favorite Merle,..but I had to be a Dad, & Mom too,..when SHE passed away,...& when I had to be both,...well,..lets just say,..that we BOTH grew up fast,...My little girl,..at 30,..has just given me ,..a Grandson,...Her Mom,is looking down,.& smiling,...
Ooohh Merle, you still know how to jerk the tears ! ! My baby's gettin' hitched next spring to a city boy. He's studying to be a doctor & says he loves her & she says she loves him, so I put the shotgun away...for now. As long as he knows I've still got it, I think that'll do. Long live Merle ! !
Other than the violin outro being crap and meaningless (pluck, pluck), it was a great performance. Just play the notes son - no need to embellish. What was recorded by Gimble is suffice for even O'Connor.
'this is one of my heros that i like to sing his songs on stage. Good no i should say you have a great channel, i love to see and hear these living legends live, Keep up the fantastic job.
I am sad for the day singers like Merle are gone. Sincerely, is there anybody to take their place other than the cookie-cutter formulaic tight jeans boy ? I don't think so.
@RaggedTelecaster You are exactly right.Merle is one of the greatest country singer/songwriters.Nobody around this day and time to come close to what he's done for country music. The majority of his songs are timeless and will last forever. The contemporary junk out there now all sound the same and will soon be forgotten. No staying power with the new stuff. This is my opinion anyway and you know what they say about that.

"Irreplacable" is a word that gets thrown around a lot. To describe Merle with it is perfectly accurate. When he's gone, that's it.
