  • geez, synchronize the sound with the video.

  • Erich Kleiber hatte etwas automatenhaftes. Erich Kleiber was a little bit like a robot.

  • To me, nothing surpasses Munch's RCA recording of the Symphonie Fantastique. The performance here is truly hair-raising, but a bit out of control at the end. Everyone who loves this work should get know Munch's studio recording with the BSO (1959).

  • @maxreger100 Please, listen to the Carlo Zecchi's, with Czech Phil.

  • How interesting (and odd) that Erich and Carlos Kleiber conducted so differently. Erich is the consummate architect--precise and imperious, whereas his son was all poetry, long lines and completely inhabiting the score. Both were rare talents but, for me, the gifts of the son surpassed the father completely!

And Munch--how lovely to hear his brief admonition to the orchestra to vibrate more and to play in an exalted state. A symphony (Franck) that can be so ponderous just gleams here.

  • What a great shame that it gets more and kore out of synch all the way thru.

    Can that be fixed?

Greetings from East Anglia in England
