Yeah, Chris with the bass, he plays it as a lead instrument, it's not for time-keeping etc; a lot of musicians don't get this but Muse get the best out of every piece of equipment they use, it almost seems to be effortless for them, they're just up there in the zone and they never come down, it's just a state of mind.

@musicResistances Not all other bassits play so cold. I agree 95% of them do but there are still some other good bassists besides chris granted Chris is my favorite bassist. Obviously Matt is my fav vocalist/guitarist and dom is favorite drummer. But there are few other bassists that play with alot of soul like Chris. Some of my favorite Bass playing is from Muse, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin and Cliff Burton. They are all great bands and Cliff Burton was an excellent bassist

I have realised on the absolution tour they used a lot of backing tracks for extra effects- i know people will give me a thumbs down for saying this but the bass line in the begging is a backing track (for the saw effect) and then chris plays normal bass underneath,same with hysteria and some others like Stockholm syndrome with the guitar. But now they don't use it,if you compare the sound of the effect to the Wembley Haarp version,there is no backing track and he uses a really good pedal.

You do realise that they have people trigger the effect for them backstage because to have that amount of effects they use on stage and for them all to trigger manually would be stupid yes some stuff is done on backing tacks but the majority of their sounds are all live. I don't know if you have ever listened to Muse but if you didn't notice they use a hell of a lot of effects and that would mean a huge effects board (Y).
