  • OMG IT'S CURRY!

  • When I first bought my guinea pig, he chirps for like 5 seconds, and never chirps anymore..... xD

i like to hear him chirps again..

I thought it was a bird though...

  • One of my guinea pigs has just started to make this noise. It occurs around the early am in the morning and usually wakes me up. But when I sit up, she stops. Both my guinea pigs are in heat though, so perhaps it is some sort of "love song"

  • i let my guinea pig listend to this and he was just quit and standing still

  • @TheCoco47 lol mine did the same thing

  • i don't think it is wrong how is it wrong? its a pretty noise and your guinea ppig is cute

  • So cute ^^

I've always wanted to see a piggy do this in real life :3

  • @oXhugzandkissezXo they often do this at night, i don't know why

  • Only one of my pigs do this and he does it ether really early in the morning or late at night. He rarely does it though.

  • My guinea pig Peanut is really cheeky and has learned that I when he chirps I usually respond in giving him some lettuce, so now he does it 24/7 :P But he only gets lettuce some times

  • haha! that is so funny!

  • Hahaha! He has you trained

  • guinea pigs only chirp when they are extremely disturbed or scared

Something might have been bothering him/her

  • no, no one knows exactly why the chirp, they purr or chatter when when they're disturbed.

  • It's when they're extremely happy.

  • My sister's guinea pig just started this, shortly after I moved in with the only male guinea pig in the apartment. I say it's her love song.

  • no not true

  • This is wrong. No one knows why they do it. Experts say it happens when they're happy, sad, irritated, hungry, full, scared. In a new place, in a comfortable known place, night, day, to strangers, to owners. It happens during all possible scenarios and no one knows why. Some have concluded that it's just another noise they can make that they do just for the hell of it, like when you're bored and hum to your self.

  • my pig does this when she's bored... at night... around 2 or 3 am... about once a week... i think she does this to annoy me... jk...

  • My Guinea pig just Chirped! It was so sweet, and she looked so happy. All the other guinea pigs just sat and listened :)

  • OMG i love the cages! did you do that?

  • Chirping means they are VERY happy, not scared,

  • Cuuuuuuuute <3

  • I have a feeling its just like a prarie dog alarm. Also as in when it chirps, it thinks, or knows there's danger

  • i read that guinea pigs chirp when theyre r VERY scared or stressed out.when my guinea pig heard this he tried to hide under my shirt

  • at this moment, Iwi was indeed stressed. I tried to put her in an other group and she didn't like the other guinea pigs at all. Because she didn;t know what to do, she started to chirp. Directly after this video I put her back in har own cage.

BUT guinea pigs do chirp also because of nothing. I also hear guinea pigs starting toc hirp during their daily routine, while nothing scary of strange things are going on. So it can be both reasons, stressed but also without any good reason at all.

  • I think they do it when they want some company. My Puffkin does it when she wants some attention. If I don't give her enough attention during the day, she will chirp at night. And when I have some one pig sit her, she will do it while I am away.

She doesn't live with other pigs. She is bonded to her human (me :) ) and has refused to be paired with my other sows.

I'm not saying they do because they are lonely, just when they want some company. I have single pigs (live alone) who never chirp.

  • when a piggie chirps it usually means der happy!!

    (its not provn though....)

  • aww!! how sweet!! i wish i could hear my guinea pigs make that noise

  • woh, how strange!

  • There is no proof known as to why guinea pigs chirp.

  • Yea but they studied them. But thats just what they think its not a guarentee that thats the answer. So there just saying what they think.

  • justlovetosmile your dumb, there is no evidence on why they chirp.

  • Your calling justlovetosmile your dumb. They Have technology that studies them and there noise and its not a guarentee that its right but they most likly are right. and besides just because she has a different opinion than you doesn't mean you have to call her dumb. There is no law that says she has to have the same opinion as yours.

  • That is a loooing chirp!
