  • @msktomson I actually passed it over to the client before i was able to get any photos of the final picture!!!

  • You can soak your paper but you have to use 800 wet sand paper... it has a different adhesive... I like 600 my self

  • Hey man, I've been airbrushing RC bodies for years but recently I had been asked to do some helmets for some folks. I searched to make sure I wasn't missing any details and found you. Great video. I really appreciate the time you took to do this for everyone and I learned what I needed to know. Thanks again.

  • @theboneclover That is the exact same story that led me to create this video, I was airbrushing for about 3yrs and have done almost everything under the sun until I came upon a stump when i was asked to do the helmet!!

I did some research and came upon few resources. It was time to take matters in my own hands lol!! Thank you for taking the time out to watch and comment on the video, it means a lot to know that i am actually helping people!!!

  • Next time try wetsend it with 1200 first than with 2000 grain before u paint

  • @MickNJ1979 Thank you so so much for the information!!!

    =3

  • Respond to this video... thank you so much for taking the time out to watch and show love on my video, it means a lot!! I am glad that i was able to help!!

  • @lp22hot people say you need to

    sand it

    primer it

    then sand it again

do you need to sand it again after you have primerd it or can you just continue your main coat after a couple coats of primer?

    good vid btw

  • @FMXrider45 I do apologize for the late response my friend i have not been on the tube lately!!!

i have to say that seem a bit excessive i would say sand it at least two to three times!!! make sure the helmet is thoroughly clean and it will be ready for the primer!!! also do about two to three coats of the primer and you should be fine, Trust me!!!!

  • Now what you should do is film one of you actually airbrushing it. I think we would all love to see your work!!!

  • @krikster1 Sorry for the late response my friend!!! i actually had the video of me airbrushing the helmet but unfortunately it was deleted by mistake before i pulled it off the card!! but if you want to see some airbrush asking you can watch some of my other videos!! a decent one to check out is the 2pac airbrushing or the wicked riders logo one!!! thanks for the love!!

  • I have a matte black helmet and I'm planning on painting it a bright, neon, yellow so I stand out more in the traffic (and as result of that, won't get hit by a car). The helmet is made out of ABS, what kind of primer and paint do you recommend?

  • @Tlawesome you can use regular primer my friend!! try going to like a Home depot or something of the nature and look at some different brands!! I used Crylon

  • @lp22hot Doesn't the primer affect the material of the helmet? Since I'll be using it in everyday traffic I can't afford to crack my skull the first time I kiss the pavement.

  • @Tlawesome Trust me, a bright helmet won't keep people from hitting you. I have been next to a car for a few minutes. Even saw they looked at me and seconds later start to get over in the lane and push me off the road. Poeple are idiots. don't trust anyone even if you had everything on you and the bike neon and bright colors

  • @tas9195 I'm aware of that, but riding around like a funfair ride instead of a shade will improve my chances of being seen

  • @Tlawesome been a while. but I agree with your point. Just saying not to count on people to see you no matter what. Just looking out for fellow riders. Hate reading stories of riders getting hurt or killed cause of idiot drivers.

  • Loved your video dude very informative. No disrespect at all but has anybody ever told you, you resemble the character Lafayette from the HBO series True Blood. I noticed it and laughed a lil bit. Again not baggin on ya just sayin. :)

  • @Freakazoid30xxx Hahaha lol thats funny but never i never herd that one!!!!! but thanks for watching my friend!!

  • Can you tell me where to buy those helmets the plain one you have there?? Im in Amazon?? ebay?? what?

  • thanks my friend!!

  • @pepik87 you are very welcome thanks for the taking the time out to watch!!!!

  • dude thanks alot

  • @migue590 You got it my man i hope i was of some help!!

  • koo man, thanks for posting this, i'm doin this step by step it helps alot, i just got done sanding down the helmet.

  • @marcer7 no problem!!!! i would like to hear about and see the results!!!!

  • word! thats the thing, im always confused on some parts on preppin ish, ure right man, experiment is key..im gona try it, and yea will nt try to experiment it on something i cherish! Thx for replying brovah!

  • @ARTKOREflix No Problem buddy lol!!! listen if you do decide to paint something either than the helmet using the same methods please let me know, keep me posted thanks!!!!!

  • Yo brah, should the same prep you taught here be applied on other stuffs like guitars, cars and perhaps turntables? Videos dope man!

  • @ARTKOREflix that is a very good question bro, but to be honest i have absolutely no idea!!!!!! i say experiment!!!!! but dont experiment on nothing you cherish!!!!!! and thanks for the love!!!!!!

  • Thanks so much for posting this. I was looking on youtube for a video on prep and it was hard to come by. Thanks so much for sharing!

  • @TheParker332 no problem at all my friend i am so thrilled to know it was of some help!!!

  • what did it look like before you painted it after sanding

  • @xXxchipperchopperxXx it was and all black helmet with a high gloss coating!!!!

  • @lp22hot after sanding?

  • @xXxchipperchopperxXx it was very scruffy and pale looking!!!!

  • What was that noise at 6:26 ?

  • @Dvdog007 lol you know what i dont even know lol!!!!!!

  • @Dvdog007 sounds like a phone vibrating

  • @Dvdog007 his kiddo laughing and his girl telling the kid to sh im good at guessing noises

  • nice sharing mate;-)

  • This video is a great resource for a do-it-yourself-er. Yours' is the first one that I have seen that actually explains the sanding part and it was pretty thorough. So thanks for this. Also, to the commenters, your input has been helpful as well.

  • @JMGibson0983 thanks my brother it is gratifying to know that the video is actually helping people!!!!!!

  • Nice job Dude.

  • @billyray3761 thanks alot dude!!!! I hope it helped!!!!

  • Thanks man, this was a start for me!

    What bike do you ride?

    Cheers from BR.

  • @ph4nt0m22 I dont personally own a bike, i am just the artist who paints them!!!!!

  • I'm very new to airbrushing and would love to custom my race lid, your video has been a good base to start, Thanks bud!

I do a lot of prep and detail work on sportscars and when I'm preping bumpers etc I find that if you soak the paper you get the same results as you found, but if I just dip the paper occasionally while I'm working it tends to keep the paper lubricated and not soaked, as soon as it starts to dry it leaves tracer scratches. Many thanks for your video matey!

  • @timmedhurst big smiles i am happy to hear all of the positive feed back on the video post!!!!!!

  • FWD... from user (myrx2)

when i prep all my helmets i use wet and dry sand paper with dish washing liquid in the water. start with 400 grit then finish with 800 grit. wipe it with a damp cloth then i use tack cloth. looks like paper towel but its sticky and picks up anything you missed with the damp towel.

  • @ibmatictv yo i just went on his page it said that he was 37 years old, Got damn son...... lol so not only is he ignorant, he is also old as hell and board, go to the hospital to see if you still have a healthy sperm count my man, and while you at it up load some videos on your page so i can crack on them and we can really make an SNL skit

  • Wow! This guy is a real pro! I love the tub that use to be a baby wipe bin. LOL I laughed my ass off during this whole video. The baby crying in the background was awesome and then the phone vibrating at the end was a nice touch. You couldn't write better comedy. This looked like some skit you would see on SNL.

  • @hidingfromu lol yo my man you are corny as hell, before you start talking get a profile pic you pre historic dinosaur lol you probably go to your friends house to use the computer on a dail up connection...

  • @lp22hot That's kool man; Im just busting your balls. Truth be told I used your technique to paint my helmet recently to a flat black color and it came out real good. Thanks for the information.

  • @hidingfromu its all love my man no offense taking at all, i actually thought you were funny as hell i laughed to myself a few times reading the comment. but i am glade the video was of some use to you. thanks again take care!!!!!

  • i have been searching for videos that does the plastic panels of the car interior, i tried krylon fusion but it never did the job well on the kind of plastic that i have on my car's trunk, the preps has been made accordingly but the paint just chips off, i hope someone would post a video on how to paint those plastic interior of a car, especially the trunk where it faces lots of abuse. i feel disappointed with krylon.
