@ judecreek2,yes this band is one of the best ever put on a stage, but theres a lot of stuff about this tour that joe wont talk about, chris stainton said in a n 2003 interview that joe was burnt out from a year of previous touring , and most everyone came out of the tour w /flying colors except for joe, he finished the tour in heap
@stalkingwolf1954 I agree with you completely. It's a shame that something so wonderful as this tour caused so much pain for Joe. It should have been the best time of his life, to be creating such long lasting music. He should have had as much fun as we do watching and hearing him.
the spotted dog belonged to a band member who brought it on the tour. Don't forget, it was 1970--as Leon put it in his song "The Ballad of Mad Dogs and Englishmen" it was a hippie commune, modified. They had their kids and dogs wandering around on stage during the performances. Imagine trying that today!
It was the American tour of the Joe Cocker 71. There were dozens of famous musicians like Leon Russell, Rita Coolidge and Lenear Claudia, journalists, friends and guests, traveling together as a family: a kind of musical reality show. And a family had a child and dog. The dog belonged to the group, (eheheheh) ..
my little girl (Dixie) now 3 years old, was born in a hospital in the special care baby unit on life support, every night when i got home i played this version and it gave me strength, thanx joe! Dan Dryden, PS she is the strongest girl in the world now!!
Best tour ever!

@stalkingwolf1954 Yes, indeed, Joe was the "star" of the tour. But what good is a "star" without a great supporting cast?
