I live in Junction City, and this freakin tornado hit Chapman, lifted back into the clouds right before it was about to cross the highway, then bore down upon west Manhattan as an EF4. I certainly hate it for not hitting us. I've always wanted to experience one, to be in the other peoples shoes. And I want to be a storm chaser when i'm older, so, what better way to start than to be IN one.
I chased a tornado earlier this year and I was lucky to escape with my life after it caught me off guard while I was at a gas station. It blew the trunk door off of my car with me in it. (I had a hatchback)
You never want to be in a freaking tornado, moron, If you ever see a tornado, no matter how far away you are, you're still putting yourself at risk. Study storms for a few years before going out on a chase, or go with someone who is experienced enough to know what he/she is doing.
god, you need to CHILL OUT man. I'm simply saying that I feel sorry for those who lose almost everything they've come to possess and love, and that I could never truly understand what they're going through unless the same thing happened to me. god...
"I've always wanted to experience one, to be in the other peoples shoes. And I want to be a storm chaser when i'm older, so, what better way to start than to be IN one."
Where in there exactly did you say that you feel sorry for those who lost almost everything? Because all I see is you acting like a pansy because the tornado didn't annihilate your town.
...and what better way to way to experience that than to have a tornado completely flatten my town and lose everything that I've ever owned and possibly even lose some friend and family in the process OR BETTER YET lose my own life. What a great idea!
I'm tired of this argument. I hate to say it, but, I'm gonna stop. Before I do though, I'm going to state that I have a right to give my opinions as well. You may enjoy boasting your somewhat knowledge, but I have a career I'm going for, and thats what I'm going to do. End of argument.
Now that you ask, I haven't quite fully decided. I'm sure that I want to at least be a storm chaser. As for big jobs, I was thinking about programming or video design. You know, most of the people I know, I've met through arguments. Want to be friends?
There is ALOT of things that go into becoming a "storm chaser". Of course capturing that moment is a thrill and can be very rewarding, but also remember that these are the same things that kill hundreds of people each year. Programming is going to probably get you farther than video design will. Please please PLEASE make sure that you learn as much as you can before you are ready to chase. Forecasting is just as important as the chase itself.
With that being said, having the right equipment and tools at the right time are probably what is going to keep you the mose safe. I have a pretty simple setup myself, laptop, wireless internet, GRLevel3 radar (soon with GRLevel2 Analyst Edition) gps on my laptop and gps on board, and my camera. Just enough to keep me on top of things but not enough to get in my way.
you really have talents in harmonics and tones to make out the differen't types of sirens in there. If i hear a siren, i basically just dive for cover, rather than think of what class of siren it is, lol.
I hear quite a few siren here. I hear a Federal Signal 2001 series, a dual tone siren with a 9/12 port rotor, and another siren that I can't Identify. Pretty scary sounding!
MAN, the sound of those tornado sirens are creepy!

Perhaps you missunderstood that quote. When I was saying being in other peoples shoes, I was referring to their losses and experience.

Don't be butthurt just because I called you out. I'm not boasting, I stated a fact. What career are you going for, exactly?

Tornado sirens, definitely one of the creepier, scary sounds to hear
stell29 3 years ago
ACA Allertor, xt22, FS2001, Tbolt - multiple of those it seems. There's another siren in that mix that I can't put a finger on.
Interesting harmonics of those all going off however! :)
