  • This isn't rare at all. It's off the Cream Farewell Concert, which is for general sale on DVD

  • oh is that what it does eric? man , humanity sure was new about then?

  • This is from a BBC program about the Cream, made by Tony Palmer circa 1968. There is another good clip where Ginger Baker plays two different rhythms at the same time, and another moment where Jack Bruce says the guy with the best bass lines was J.S. Bach.

    Great stuff!

  • How old is Clapton here?

  • @tomfong292 He was 23 here.

  • Clapton is GOD

  • SLOW FOOT

  • The best thing with Clapton and Wah has to be Bad Love. Great riff and of course, the brilliant Phil Collins in for the ride as well!

  • It wasn't long after this clip that Clapton stopped using the wah, due to the fact that, as he himself said, "Why bother, when Hendrix said it ALL with the wah?"

  • i still say clapton is God. you can have your stupid shredders, il take slowhand :}

  • Sounds just like Hendrixs tone

  • eric quit smoking years ago but the guitar seems to still be addicted

  • yeah its the real eric clapton the cool version before he turned into an old bb king wannabe if clapton had of got into hard rock just a little bit more he would have been as good as jimmy page infact clapton for led zepp would have been good

  • @shredmaster100 Question: How do you shred the blues?

  • Answer =Jimmy Page LOL

  • I can this " Wah " thing going places.

  • What's this from?

  • @ZakkHendrix666 late 1967.. or early 1968 interview.. eric clapton... included in the video for the cream.. farewell tour 1968

  • as i rock the pedal

  • Damn that's fluid

  • Behold - the most badass wah wah starting in history.

  • what a nicotine addict - the cigarette on top of the guitar

  • @MrGuitar373

and you never saw that before?????? damn how old are you?

  • @MrGuitar373 A lot of guitarists do that, even EVH

  • i dig that wah wah but just in funk music.

  • cool man!

  • Looks like Howard Moon

  • what's the similarity between clapton and coffee? only good with Cream.

  • Clapton is by far and above my favorite guitar player of all time... but, there is a reason Eric said Knopfler was one of his favorite guitar players. I love both, but to my ears, Clapton makes the guitar sing unlike anyone else... except maybe Hubert Sumlin... but I prefer Clapton. I have always found EC to be the best for over 30 years. And I have heard a lot of guitars sing. Clapton makes me feel like life has meaning in those sounds.

  • @Qlorn i think it only relates in guitar in cream, and derek dominoes, tears in heaven and all are amazing written songs

  • @Qlorn Clapton's a hack. A talented imitator, but an imitator all the same. If this guy makes you feel that your life has meaning, then you haven't heard many guitarists.

  • @zoznack So, when BB King says "I admire the man. I think he's No. 1 in rock 'n' roll as a guitarist..." he has no idea what he is talking about? Im sure BB King has no clue about guitarists either? When you make comments like you have, you clearly show your opinionated derisiveness. Just because you dont like Clapton, doesnt mean he is a hack. Ive seen BB, Clapton, Guy, Landreth with Hiatt, Raitt, Lifeson, and McLaughlin in concert off the top of my head. But what do I know?

  • @Qlorn Clapton's a hack, regardless of what you CLAIM that BB King said about him. BTW, Eric ripped off BB aplenty...Clapton hasn't done dick in 40 years. His best days were with Cream/Blind Faith and Derek and the Dominos, when he was actually PUSHED by great musicians. His stage show is right out of Vegas.

  • @zoznack Seriously?

  • @zoznack Forgot to mention Mayhall as well, which is sublime. Secondly what do you get out of slamming someones opinion? Music is clearly subjective to each person. Do you just like to be combative or be nasty? Who makes you feel that life has meaning when you listen to their music? I would never take that away from you or anyone. I try and teach my children to respect every ones views and beliefs without passing judgement on their person because they dont agree. Life's to short dude.

  • Spinal Tap.

  • Which wah is he playing here ? I should know but i´m not very much into clapton...

  • @Oudl3000 and why not??

  • @Oudl3000 My guess is a cry baby wah which he got in 67.

  • I miss wah-wah pedal!

  • Who posted this? There's NOTHING rare about it. You can buy it from any decent music DVD vendor.

  • @mckendrick4046 Not to mention that there are sertain sites showing this kind of stuff on the internet.

  • STONED, nuf said.

  • Eric certainly raised the bar for guitar playing with his incredible touch and tone in his hands.

If i could only make the guitar sound an eighth as sweet as he can I could die happy one thousand times.

  • ....and then he met HENDRIX.....and HENDRIX made that sound without the pedal.....and the world was never the same again....!

  • @ReekoChet

No he didn't. He had one aswell. You can't turn the treble and bass up and down like that without the pedal.

  • If your sitting down like Eric you have to stomp to engage the switch . If your standing you don't have to stomp on it but lots of guitarists still did to make sure it was on.

  • très fantastique!

  • I wonder did he really think he had to "kick" it on, or was he just being smart?

  • rare? hahahah no way man. this video is everywhere

  • what is this from?

  • @kemicchew The film of Cream's farewell concert.

  • haha damn, my cousin did that to my vox wah (about 3 years ago made in China) and it broke the damn thing. Clapton fucking SLAMMED that bitch. Back when things were well made. You could use that thing as a hammer lol

  • is it just me or does he sound like he should be in spinal tap

  • @DainBramagedcorp He's too smart for Spinal Tap lol

  • @DainBramagedcorp Who do you think they had in mind when they wrote Tap? :)

  • @DainBramagedcorp

But you see...mine goes to eleven. Not ten...But eleven. You are right on with that one.

So fuckin' funny. Spinal Tap in the making!

  • Yes, just a simple click will do.

  • claptons stiff

  • Does anyone know where the rest of this interview is at? It is very interesting, And I saw in another video of the same interview jack bruce for a split second and changed the camera towards clapton talkin bout his woman tone.

    Really interesting please lemme know!!!!

  • @MrManonthemoon69

Cream Farewell Concert DVD. It's on Youtube too just look for it.

  • is the whole video floating around somewhere...

that tone is really really good.

  • Hendrix was the first and best wah pedal user.

  • If there was ever an ad to make cigarettes "cool"... this should have been it!

  • Comment removed

  • "I have to kick the pedal to start it" STOMP!!!!! *pedal on*

  • I love You Eric Clapton. . . Sounds kinda gay, but still

  • What ever happend to this Eric Clapton? We want him back...hes been missing for 43 years already!

  • @JASONCALEDONIA No kidding - his solo career has been bloody awful - Tears in Heaven = barf etc.

  • Clapton was fuckin' cool as ice back in the 60's. Then he sobered up.

  • cool hair

  • not sure thats a cigarette it may be a funky version hahah

  • Love the cigarette on the strings ;)

  • how did he get his cig on there like that. I want to do that.

  • Lol @ the cigarette

  • man that tone is godly!

  • Isn't there a lot more to this interview. I think I remember him being asked about developing his technique, and him playing a single note with a lot of vibrato and saying something like "First you spend a couple of years learning to do that". Does anyone else remember that, and is it from this interview?

  • @kentswearingen yea it from the farewell concert 1968 dvd they interview jack and ginger too

  • @kentswearingen yeah, just look on the related videos on the right ( if you havent already) the ones about 4 min long are what you are looking for!

  • Can someone please tab what Clapton's playing in this video?

  • @Ashweedy you have ears and hands

  • @78locomocion true

  • Sounds like an interview with Nigel from Spinal Tap.

  • What happened to guitar players today?? I am a guitar and I'm influenced by all these cool legends etc. I feel some people think the way I play is old? and then I hear some trendy player using 2-3 notes with too much delay for a solo which I think sounds terrible and everyone thinks thats cool???I'm hanging out with the wrong people :)

  • I dig claptons pre fender tone

  • WOW! EXTRAIT RARE--- NOW THAT REALLY REALLY IS RARE. PROBABLY LIKE SUPER RARE OR SOMETHING.

  • how cool it looks how he had put his cigarette on his guitar.

  • is it just me or he looks a bit like Tony Iommi here? xd

  • is that a smoking joint on the headstock

  • You shouldn`t cut this video like this... everthing around it is important for guitarrists...

  • Not rare, this is pulled from the documentary.

  • oh. my. god.

  • What the fuck man. Why can't I find the whole interview!?!

  • Love Clapton. He is the Elvis Presley of rock guitar.

  • The Fool, I wonder where that bitch is. That would go for a lot at auction.

  • Where's the full video?

  • he looks just like hyde from that 70s show here

  • @andrewcy17

dude i grew up in the 70's ..

i don't need to watch "that 70's" show to now how fucking great that decade was....

fucking totally different world then today....

we beat up queers instead of befriending them...

  • funcking awesome!!!!!

  • dude, he lookes SO stoned in this vid lol!!!

  • Clapton and his amazing moustache.

  • "Our amps go to eleven" so that's where he got the accent from!

  • i swear hes had so many different appearances throughout the years

  • god i love this guy.............CLAPTON FOREVER

  • i like his moustaches

  • That is from the movie "Cream" that I saw in the theater on Capitol Hill in ~ 1972, which was after Cream broke up.

  • ahhhh yess....when clapton used to be in his prime, and playing like the god he used to be. LOVE IT!

  • to the two guys disagreeing a few months ago about whether Eric or Jimi are the best guitar players ever..... I've been playing guitar since 1968 and am still obsessed by it. Their are only a dozen intervals and about a dozen chords (chords used in blues/ rock). What's amazing is that certain players like Jimi and Eric can sound so different. Besides everybody knows Randy Rhoads was the greatest!

  • What type of wah wah pedal does clapton use

  • @ledwhofloyd101 the only 1 they had back then was the original vox wah, in my opinion still best, forget about the dime cry baby

  • @MrSnatch22 watch the Crybaby doc, they were the same thing under diferent companies...

  • @MrSnatch22 you should see the Cry Baby Documentary, where the creator of this pedal explains that Vox and Jim Dunlkop use the same device, 'cos they had the same source, Phillips Organ Company or something like that

  • esti qui kick trop fort sur ça pedal o.0

  • the most overrated of all

  • he kicked the shit out of that wah-wah pedal there

  • so rare its on youtube.

  • Music is a big exchange of emotions

  • Jimi is the king of wah.

  • @RastafariPoet just cause of purple haze?

  • @PILLOWofECHOES

He didnt even use it on that song lol

  • @RastafariPoet yeah, i meant all along the watchtower. had a pretty damn good high going last night. then after i posted the comment i realized i stated the wrong song and it was too late

  • @PILLOWofECHOES he sure as hell uses the pedal in purple haze. uses the hell out of it on that song at woodstock

  • i want to know how you do that what are the notes for this

  • I judge as follows: NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE it is important HOW YOU PLAY, HOW YOU SING, HOW YOU COMPOSE, HOW YOU FIT THE SCENE, BUT MOST OF ALL H O W Y O U D E V E L O P. As a matter of fact Eric Clapton stop giving himself THE TEMPO WITH RIGHT FEET some years ago. This is a very bad habit for BEGINNING MUSICIAN /boys and girls at school age/. If I was him I should deny interviws.

  • Poor Eric Clapton! All these years you have been playing SAME SHIT PENTATONICS /not even precisely done/. Remember: DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS, DEVELOPERS. Thousands of guitar players ALL OVER THE WORLD that simply didn't have a chance, but NOTICE: MUCH BETTER AND WELL PREAPARED THAN YOU. Don't talk about music. It sounds sick from your mouth.

  • @dickensbg All these years he still has millions of fans (including me).

  • @dickensbg WHAT HAPPENED WITH YOU,B DUMB FUCK

  • Jimi and Eric both admired each other's playing...Jimi had a fast and phycedelic style and Eric had a fast wah wah style.

  • @dubbly1 yea, i tottally agree. though i dont like how everyone says jimi is better than eric clapton vise versa. its just all the people were amazed with all the tricks jimi did and then think hes the greatest guitarist of all time. i personally dont think jimi is better than eric clapton, nor clapton better than hendrix. but it seems for that clapton makes his guitar talk and has more soul. but thats just one guys opinion so noone send me bullshit messages saying im a dumbass. somthin like tht

  • @PILLOWofECHOES

Honestly?.. Makes his guitar talk and has more soul.. Over Jimi Hendrix? Really? I know that is your opinion. However, I find it absurd. Jimi clearly was far more talented than Eric. Not only do I know that, Eric himself knows that.

  • @RastafariPoet well i can see that your an all out hendrix fan. its just i dont view him as the best guitarist, nor do i view clapton as the best. hes amazing. its just my opinion. people are just amazed at alot of the tricks that he does. hes in my top 5 though. same thing with eddie van halen, alot of people i know think he is the best. hes amazing, but not the best. i would know somethin about guitar seeing that ive been playing for almost 10 years. oh and yes he does use it in purple haze

  • @RastafariPoet THAT NOT TOTALLY TRUE

  • Ahh This is the best type of Clapton!!! I love his pycedellic rock style when he was in Cream=)

  • Was Hendrix using a wah pedal in 67?

  • Sorry....but Paul Kossoff was a better guitarist in every aspect

  • As a 12 year old I remember sitting open-mouthed at this back when it was first broadcast on the BBC in black and white. Amazing that he was already an icon at - what age was he here - 23? The boy has lived a full life that's for sure. And BTW - listen to that vibrato again and try to copy it. For those who think ti's easy - I'll guarantee yours' doesn't sound the same!!

  • what a good!! What a God!! What hell did you do when you turned 26 years? you played fag songs.

  • he is not in a wheelchair. he walks just fine where did you see this i saw him live on febuary 27 and he stood and walked just fine.

  • To add to the debate about the cigarette in the strings, i have seen pictures of John Lennon in Hamburg Germany in 1960 with it in his Rickenbacker. Not trying to ensue an argument with anyone this is just information. Clapton Is God!

  • Cigarette's just like in the strings.....

    badaaaaasss

  • who copied who? did dave mason or clapton come up with the ciggie on the neck bit first?

  • @wp4866

I think it's as old as cigarettes and guitars!

  • year??

  • Comme ca on dirait zappa xD

  • You can hear that little girl scream the instant he kicks it on right at 0:02. Short clip but totally bitchin!

  • To all u Clapton haters out there...We'll blow ur planet up

  • I'm on your team. I'm a Clapton lover forever even in 20 years from now when he's in a wheelchair and it marks what the 65th year he first entered music. He's the best British white male blues guitarist out there. Hands down!

  • @noxinferius ...I'd like this if it made any sense

  • @Noseheros how doesnt this make sense you fuckin cunt

  • @crakker321 dude chill, Im a huge clapton fan and I read his auto-bio...but its such a short clip...I dunno why I said it doesnt make sense but wut ever

  • @noxinferius Who the fuck hates Clapton?!

  • What was this taken from? It may be interesting to see the rest of it.

  • "these go to eleven"

  • This is an effin' unbelievable footage video!

    Thanx, mate!

  • does anybody knows were to find that guitar?

  • @gabuxi11 You might be able to find it on eBay if your lucky. It will probably cost over a $1000.

  • i think he left it at lennon's place one day and never went back to get it

  • check out his eyes

  • Was that a joint on the headstock? lol

  • I remember that on the telly year s ago but in B&W

  • Does anyone know where the rest of this video is? I remember it used to be up on here and its an amazing interview he goes over Women Tone and a tone of other things. But it seems to have disappeared

  • @nirvana314 It's from the Cream Farewell concert DVD.

  • Well i not sure where to find it on youtube, but I do remember how he said to do it. Just turn the bridge pickup all the down to 0.

  • its called eric clapton and his gibson sg (1968) but when u click on it, it says it is not availiable due to copyright

  • love how hes got a lighted cig on his guitars neck
